I kind of understood it. From Lowe's piece, what resonated a bit was the league is about to change drastically with the salary cap and even if it's unaffected they just want one less variable.

I still just feel like Trestman has given Cutler a multiple choice test but Cutler continues to just pick C.

Kyrie "shouldn't" be a trainwreck, but he is the worst rated d point guard. So big news was that new draft proposal sank today and the bulls helped sink it.

Raanta had a great game as well. Richards/Bickell both had much better games, but most of their movement was away from the puck. Seems like Saad was able to control the puck and set them up a lot better. Richards, he played better but his game right now just seems to be throwing the puck at the net as soon as he touches it.

Not a bad start. Was just to say Raanta looks awkward but he just made a huuuge save

QUOTE (Jake @ Oct 21, 2014 -> 05:25 PM) Jay has always had awful fundamentals when it comes to ball security in the pocket. He is very averse to putting both hands on the ball and he tends to hold it low. You can't pick and choose when to secure when you often don't see the threat coming - it's surprising to me the fumbles haven't been a bigger problem in the past, when he was sloppier and sacked more often. He totally did see that guy coming though which was most infuriating.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Oct 21, 2014 -> 10:51 PM) Pretty many. He isn't Calipari or Coach K when it comes to landing that level of recruit but it seems like he gets a 5* recruit just about every year these days and has for a while. Right well he's won a lot. But his classes are usually 4 star heavy, much moreso than your power 3 but he's always competing with them. I don't think getting a bunch of top 20s in year 3 is as much of a necessity as just making sure your 4 stars get coached up and stay. edit: he's won a lot meaning he will get 5 stars

How many 5 stars does Donovan get? I don't feel like he nails a ton but his 4 stars become seniors and then destroy the 5 star freshman.

Your Current Top 10
Funny, throughout the year people were very excited about the prospect of a non-full time DH finally. And all offseason I've seen way too many posts about signing a 1b and pushing Abreu to DH, or another full-time DH.

Isaiah Briscoe cutting list down to 3 this week. Looking at the list geographically, Mizzou sticks out like a sore thumb. I've always been confused how long we've been in this race, so if we stay in top 3 I will just enjoy the exposure of the top PG considering us.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Oct 21, 2014 -> 06:26 PM) Not what I said, we know he has input, but I think Bowman was responsible for the length and contract of Bickell. Is there a "want to keep Bicks around?" conversation that happens? Sure. But Q isn't the one calling the shots on the how and the what for contracts, and if it doesn't work it doesn't work. Bowman has to manage the roster and the cap. I'm not implying that Q is calling the shots. I think "Stan signed Bickell when daddy wasn't looking over his shoulder" is cheap, and I think the rationale was overpaying for roster consistency. I'm not saying it was right to sign Bickell, but the idea Bowman signed him out of pure idiocy on his part is missing some drivers.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 21, 2014 -> 04:06 PM) I don't think they'll be that bad defensively. But I also don't think they'll be as good offensively at the start. I don't know, the benefit is the Rockets had Asik/Howard to run people into. The Cavs have better wing defense but worse big men defense. Irving/waiters are so easy to penetrate and there is nothing behind them. Luckily, the east doesn't have very good shooting.

That seems almost certain, especially with Gasol and Noah. That said, when Rose was having his way my god the spacing was beautiful with Gasol being a legit threat to start outside and work in (if necessary). Lebron though, that dude is gonna be able to coast this year. Playoffs he's gonna be much better off this year. Blatt was just having Love hangout at 3point line. Guessing he's holding things close to his chest for now.

They'll be able to cover it up enough. Just interesting if they'll be basically the Houston Rockets of the east. They may be good enough even with that to get to finals. Noah looks really weak right now.

QUOTE (Knuckles @ Oct 21, 2014 -> 02:23 AM) Remember fellas, pre season does not mean squat. Both for Derrick looking great (like last year) and for the 2nd unit looking bad (they look good last night). Bring on the season! Last year's preseason mostly consisted of Thibs starting the starters all game to be preseason champs and Rose feasting on second units. I don't understand why people were so dumb about Rose playing last 5 minutes. That clearly was the plan to have him finish the game, which Thibs stuck to regardless of whom Blatt was putting in. Still, not going to listen to "calm down" posts, never going to not be enjoyable watching Rose make Kyrie spin around like an idiot trying to catch him, and watch Kyrie shoot off on Aaron Brooks and act like he's the man.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 20, 2014 -> 07:37 PM) McCown got very lucky with that ratio. He threw a lot of dropped picks and had quite a few bail out Jeffrey catches. Frankly Jeffrey should get more opportunities for bail out catches, that's what makes him special.

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Oct 20, 2014 -> 06:22 PM) Didn't he also not have any through the 1st four games? If so, that's even worse. Sexy Rexy could probably do better in this offense. He definitely had a terrible INT in the bills game that imo lost us the game. I don't think Rex would be better, but I'm hardpressed to tell you that we would have a worse record with Kyle Orton, and have 10 million more to work with.
