Our LBs who are fast enough to get back in coverage are too stupid to cover run gaps, our LBs who are smart enough to understand run gaps and play action are too slow to cover anyone. The LBs are absolutely an emery problem, as he has focused on that position in the draft.

Ferguson Riots
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 25, 2014 -> 01:13 AM) It really depends. I actually am sick of people printing stuff that is false and then still protecting their sources. We invaded Iraq because of people doing that. And if a person agrees to an interview and says "this is off the record" without the interviewer agreeing, that isn't an agreement. Both of those are annoyingly common games, and one of them helped cost a few hundred thousand lives. That would have happened regardless of Judy Miller.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 27, 2014 -> 02:45 PM) It doesn't matter. You let whomever comes her cut Jay or just stick him as a backup and you let them know that he is not our QB. If we lost because of our defense fine, but he is part of the problem. Emery and Trestman have made a complete and utter mess. In response to Jake, and I already kind of said this, I'm not sure the Bears will have a tough time filling in that coaching spot. They are fairly attractive in star power. The main disadvantage is totally gonna be money, because it ALWAYS is money. It's why Chip Kelly ain't walkin through that door. But, we aren't the Browns of last year (and even they filled in with a pretty respected assistant). There are only 32 head coaching jobs in the NFL. You'll find some takers.

I'll say this for Tucker: Yesterday we had an undrafted free agent starting at CB, an undrafted free agent starting at OLB, DJ Williams, a converted terrible first year OLB in McLellin, and a rookie safety. The Jets, whom have a great coach, have a similarly depleted secondary/LB situation and got torched by Kyle Orton. Similar to me in that the Jets have an offense that routinely puts the defense on the back of their heels. I think Tucker has done nothing to show he can develop talent, but that is a crap pie he has worked with, and it doesn't help that he has had tremendous bad luck on injuries as he institutes a new scheme. That said, the defense is bad. Really bad. But they would probably be decent if the offense could get ahead one of these days and they could pin their ears back. But they are always playing from behind.

You never see players pull up like that and it be best case scenario. Oh well, it was a fitting end point to the Bears season. Best part about Bears fandom right now is you cannot criticize the defense without being on #teamcutler, you cannot criticize Cutler and the offense without being #teamtucker even though all deserved blame. I still think that given the greater resources on offense, that they cannot do a plan like San Diego where they aim to just have long drawn out drives against bad defenses like GB/Pats/Carolina(at the time) is the much much more disappointing issue this season.

We mayyy have our pick of the litter in this draft. After ze Jaguars of course. I don't believe this is a particularly good draft class though

So Al Louis Jean is not there yet. Guess it's good to get him experience. Currently two undrafted rookie free agents out there though.

Every time I see our giant receivers make an improbable 25 plus yard catch I think, yes, I understand why we never throw these.

That is atrocious. But I did laugh seeing Belicheck smile. I feel like it's Larry bird going to the opposing coach saying "really? You're gonna try to beat me with a CFL coach?"

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 26, 2014 -> 07:15 PM) They have tried. He threw Mundy to the ground a few times. He is simply too big for Mundy and no LB can match him on this team Line man. Also just in case we were unaware, the pats offense actually hasn't been very good this year.

Honestly, give him some shove. Something. The letting him run with a full head of steam is not working.

The pass protection thus far has been superb. We should be carving up the defense like this every drive.

QUOTE (Jake @ Oct 26, 2014 -> 06:57 PM) Supposing you want to dump Trestman at season's end, what top offensive mind will want to come deal with Cutler at this point? Sigh, the good news is NFL jobs are always attractive. But yeah, I've sort of written off this decade for the Bears.

QUOTE (Jake @ Oct 26, 2014 -> 06:55 PM) Going three and out after a 17 play drive is a great way to make your defense look awful Exactly. The Bears needed to imitate the San Diego game plans last year (a playoff team with a bad defense) where they dominated time of possession. They have completely failed at that every game.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Oct 26, 2014 -> 06:52 PM) Tucker will correct it. Not defending Tucker but to me, Trestman's/Kromers performance with a potentially elite offense is so so much worse than Tucker's performance with 1 starting corner and 1 linebacker
