  1. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 18, 2014 -> 05:23 PM) I am going to burst into flames if the Bills take Clinton-Dix That was why people were screaming.
  2. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Apr 18, 2014 -> 04:34 PM) That is a hard core draft dream if you are dreaming about what happens in the 2nd round. It was wild, I can tell you guys about the whole thing. Ha-Ha Clinton Dix went 9th. The rest was blurry but a LOT of people were screaming.
  3. I had a dream last night Bears drafted Nix. Great dream.
  4. QUOTE (danman31 @ Apr 18, 2014 -> 04:51 AM) Except Iowa State sucks at football and has a better history of basketball. Either way, very happy to have Haith gone. Christmas came early. I thought we'd have to wait for him to inevitably fail to make the tournament next year before we would fire him. Now he's gone and we don't have to pay him. This is fantastic. Only can go up from here. The real shame is when Anderson left we had three players that would play in the NBA for the next coach to inherit. Haith left a relative wasteland for the next guy. This year seems like there are much more coaches I'd be happy with than when HCMA left. But, again, as you alluded to, this is a tough situation to come into, but it's a place where you could build a program.
  5. Honestly every manager will look terrible when their bullpen was terrible. I think Robin was exhausting every bullpen arm in 8th because he wanted to win and not go into extras. We don't have arms that can preserve leads.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 18, 2014 -> 12:49 AM) Brian Gregory seems like a great fit for Missouri!! I am but I also feel like program is in as bad of shape as when Snyder left. When Ryan Rosburg was the star of Haith's recruiting class...well. I've never seen Freshman show so little development. Coaching searches can be fun, but often times they are depressing. I do not think we'll get a superstar, but there seems to be more talent available this year than when Anderson left. Also f*** haith.
  7. I mean, 5 pitchers in 8th and 9th with 5 or 6 walks was truly something. They really weren't close too. Mikel had no idea where strike zone was.
  8. QUOTE (scs787 @ Apr 16, 2014 -> 03:44 PM) Season sure has been fun so far. I'm "saving up to buy in" at this point(meaning I haven't fully bought in yet, but I'm getting there). I really think the bullpen will work itself out, Robin just needs define everyones roles. If Nate Jones can return as 2012 or 2nd half 2013 Nate Jones it's really gonna help the pen out. Cleto is really looking like he'll be Coops next success story, and Webb looks like he's the closer of the future. If those 3 guys keep it up and emerge as the 7-8-9th inning guys the pen should be in fairly good shape. If 1 or 2 of the vets (Lindstrom, Belly, Downs, Francisco, Guerra) emerge then they're in even better shape. The offensive approach thus far has been brilliant. Sox currently have the highest team OBP in the league. I hear a lot of people bring up wRC+ on this board, I'm not exactly sure what it means, but they lead the league in that as well, so there's that. The only concern I have at this point is Paulino, who I was real high on in the offseason. I just have to remember that, sans ST, this is his first month back in over 2 years. I know ST should be the time to knock the rust off, but there's a lot of rust on that arm. I'd probably give him about 10-15 starts and then go from there. I'm hoping Paulino is a confidence issue. First couple pitches in the at bat he attacks. But when he gets to 0-2 or 1-2 he has no idea how to get a hitter out anymore. I'm hoping that's something he'll get more comfortable with. Or he never will and we'll need a pitcher.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 16, 2014 -> 04:12 PM) Kirk Hinrich just twisted an ankle reading this post. And then got a thigh bruise that bleeds internally for 4 weeks.
  10. Most important thing this playoffs is if we can get through round 1 (duh) and through it healthy. Has not happened 2 years straight.
  11. I'm very pleased with this year so far. I hadn't really watched a rebuilding year since 98 and I was young enough that it didn't matter. I was in Little League so "playing hard" was more important to me. BUt I've watched more sox games the first 2 weeks than I did all of last year probably. I just couldn't take it, it was not entertaining to me at all.
  12. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 16, 2014 -> 01:55 PM) It is amusing to see the Knicks ball out in the last three games after elimination. bmags, you were sweating serious bullets over the last two months, werent you? To be honest I mostly felt dumb because I had told so many people about it. By the end of november they had almost half the wins needed. I thought it was over after the Bucks beat the 76ers by 30. Part of my theory was right, the nba being so weak the bad teams will have trouble losing to other bad teams. Look at the bucks. That is maybe the worst lineup I've ever seen in the NBA, and they came out with 15 wins. That's horrible but I can't believe they won more than 10.
  13. QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 16, 2014 -> 03:44 AM) I've seen you guys had a wager on PHI, but what exactly was it? After the second game of the season Steve bet me that Philly would not win 18 games. At the end of January Philly had 15 wins. They promptly lost 27 straight before hitting 18 wins at game 81 of the season.
  14. For those following, Steve was good on his bet. Sox talk has integrity.
  15. Remember how bulls fans were dumb for not wanting to trade Noah for Aldridge?
  16. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Apr 15, 2014 -> 07:50 PM) The thing is, to me, this is the most beatable Heat team since they colluded, er, got together. If only Rose never went down...IMO, if Wade or Bosh get hurt, they won't get to the Finals, call me unimpressed by the Heat supporting cast. LeBron won't get hurt, he's a robot. The Bulls won't beat them, not enough offense but it could go 7 games. The thing is, if Rose never goes down we never find out that Noah is a point center. I'm interested to see how this new offense rolls.
  17. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 15, 2014 -> 04:07 PM) What does this even mean? I don't care who the favorite is. I am telling you that I think the Bulls can beat Brooklyn and Indy and go to the ECF. I do not however think they can beat Miami under any scenario. So it's either: Get the 4th seed and have a shot at the Conference Finals or 3rd Seed and lose in round 2. 1 scenario - James injury.
  18. Honestly, I think the cubs awfulness since 08 onward has hurt sox attendance. In early 00s both teams had exciting teams, with cubs oscillating more than sox. When the cubs fell off of a cliff and then sox slow decline since 08 (even with 12, our 10/11 campaigns were fueled by huge June's) people just have not been talking about baseball for a few years. And when nobody is talkinga bout baseball casual fans will not think "Hey I should go to a baseball game"
  19. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 15, 2014 -> 03:42 PM) Was going to say 30k at least for Thursday night but looks like the night weather has been downgraded from 70 to 59. Still, Red Sox, Sale vs Lester, lot of people off on Friday and it's going into a holiday weekend. Should see a huge crowd. Sounds accurate.
  20. Excuse maker here, turns out we are now going tomorrow, not today. i'm pumped about that news.
  21. I mean, this is a huge draft for the organization, I would hope Hahn and his scouts personally go see the presumed top ten players.
  22. Yeah I'm still hoping for a miracle 3rd seed.
  23. QUOTE (joeynach @ Apr 15, 2014 -> 05:58 AM) There wont be 10K people there then. U could give me scout seats to tomorrow nights game I am not going out there to freeze my a$$ off. Much happier from my couch and 55" LED in HD. Unfortunately I will be here.
  24. Jimmer may have bought himself some playing time
  25. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 15, 2014 -> 01:32 AM) That was quite the roller coaster of a bet, wasn't it?? Awesome. Steve actually sent me his PayPal info three weeks ago. Best jinx ever.
