  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 14, 2014 -> 07:36 PM) Trains are better than buses, and if the weather is OK, a bike is better than a bus. If I take the bus to work, even with bus tracker which will tell me when the bus will be at my stop, it takes about 20 minutes from the time I step on the bus to the time I sit at my desk. It's about 12 minutes from the time I walk out my door until the time I sit at my desk if I take a bike. If I take a bus to work, I will walk home. I don't own a car anymore. I use car sharing. Zipcar. The other thing is, when you are used to it, you walk a lot. Walking a mile or 2, I think nothing of it. When I was younger and lived in the suburbs, I would drive to go half a mile. Agree on all accounts. On weekends going east to west in the city, you will save 30 minutes by bicycling.
  2. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 14, 2014 -> 05:46 PM) dream big if you are gonna consider moving him. If other teams dont want to pay your price, you still have a very good coach Also, keep in mind that there are very stupid owners in the NBA that want to "be in the playoffs" at all cost with disregard to the idea of waiting to get your franchise player. The idea of getting thibs will be enticing to some dumb team. It's too bad Jordan's team already is out of lottery, he'd probably give us #1 overall.
  3. No reason to take less. With 2 outside lottery picks this year getting another one does nothing for me. There is no "making it up by volume" in the NBA.
  4. Also FWIW there has been a lot of great discussion on this in the MLB catch all thread regarding Jose Fernandez injury.
  5. QUOTE (raBBit @ May 14, 2014 -> 04:23 PM) I don't think that's true. Pitchers aren't working their arms that much besides throwing their regimen usually includes running for 45 minutes after starts and squats/lunges and an emphasis on the core. What I found more interesting, something that I can't comment towards intelligibly, was their ideas surrounding the height of the mound. Supposedly if the MLB raised the mound 2-3 inches it would be a lot easier to get the tilt on the offspeed pitches. That would be a good idea but perhaps a tough sell with hitting already dropped off os much.
  6. I can probably just tweet at him and ask.
  7. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 14, 2014 -> 03:56 PM) I'll take a lottery pick for Thibs. Bring it on. You have to imagine there is an additional talent threshold that would surpass the drop off from Thibs to league average coach (and I think Hoiberg will be a great coach)
  8. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 14, 2014 -> 04:47 PM) I'm sorry what? Nordstrom is brutal. But you can slot Regin in. Or #freemorin. With the Hawks, he could be deceased and they'd still call it day to day. No good information coming out. It wouldn't surprise me if he was out the whole playoffs, even if they say "day to day" and now "closer to being day to day" I'm talking gut feeling. A yahoo article said he should be back any day now, and I thought how in the hell would they know. I think 75% he's out for playoffs 20% he's back for game 3-4 this series, 5% his leg was amputated out for career.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 14, 2014 -> 03:48 PM) The line up is soooo different with him out. I didn't want to hop in to the "Robin is an idiot" arguments, but I think I can see his mindset, where he'd rather just plug in some temporary players in leadoff and not mess with the players actually hitting in their lineup spots. I am not sold on it but I can understand it. But with Eaton suddenly the lineup becomes "HELL YES WHITE SOX BASEBALL"
  10. We've reached the doldrums. Can't wait to get Eaton back.
  11. I kind of feel like this, if losing Thibs is inevitable, then I'd rather we trade him and get something.
  12. Do people think Shaw will actually come back or do you think he's out for playoffs?
  13. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 14, 2014 -> 04:25 PM) If the Bulls come to the conclusion that Thibodeau will never win a title because he beats his players into the ground or Thibs decides to go somewhere else and they can hire Fred Hoiberg, I'd be ok with it. I love Thibodeau but in the NBA players matter so much more. We are watching the Thunder perennially underachieve with Scott Brooks.
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 14, 2014 -> 02:56 PM) For "The State of Hockey" they are pretty stupid at times. I spent 30 min arguing with a client when he told me the reason the series was so close is because the teams play the exact same style of hockey. I'm going to blame STL for this. Those fans are obsessed with themselves and still think the 92 playoffs or whenever the "Belfour" thing happened and wanted to recreate it. I'm sure MN was just picking up on that. I blame pretty much everything bad in sports on STL fans though.
  15. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 14, 2014 -> 03:45 AM) So Hawks win this on some BS goal in OT, right? Get outplayed, 100% deserve to lose, goalie saves your ass, some fluke ass s*** wins it. If I'm a Wild fan, that's all I can think about right now. #littlehurtcoffeetime Prophecy
  16. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 13, 2014 -> 10:14 PM) The thread. I have to think the Sox are going to trade one or two infielders at some point, and then he comes up. So yeah. I'd rather not to be honest. Last time that happened we chose BA.
  17. He'll absolutely be here in September. His extended ST look ought to have sold us on that.
  18. I feel like I've heard things about kids throwing breaking balls too early forever. Why now the problem?
  19. Yeah, people have stuff. It's not like Sunday afternoon traffic on 90/94 is a joy for anyone. I think it's the fact that 5 years of largely inconsequential baseball north and south (barring 2012) has led to a serious deteriation of fan interest of baseball. Add to that late playoff runs for bulls and Blackhawks, and then that ends and baseball sucks and people are just waiting for football.
  20. Before Copeland started the bench press reps at Pro Day he turned on Metallica and then had a teammate slap him in the face.
  21. Are invitations for those all set? I was hoping Mizzou'd max copeland would get an invite. He's trying to make it as a fullback.
  22. Most chilling line of that article: Average age of the Tommy John surgery for this years injured: 24.2.
  23. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ May 13, 2014 -> 07:02 PM) No one has signed Colt Lyerla. What a waste of talent. No kidding. You have to have been really, really redflagged for people not even wanting risk of a UDFA contract.
  24. Good article.http://grantland.com/the-triangle/jose-fernandez-elbow-injury-mlb-tommy-john-epidemic/
  25. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ May 13, 2014 -> 03:27 PM) Another reason I'm not big on the Watkins trade is that it's proven you can get really good WR in later rounds. Just look at some of the best WR in football. A lot of them were taken in 2nd and later rounds. Brandon Marshall Alshon Jeffery Jordy Nelson James Jones Greg Jennings Pierre Garcon TY Hilton Eric Decker Few of these are true #1s. Most of those are product of good passing system which arguable if Bills have. Of best WRs regardless in football, I can't think of one that isn't a #1 pick: Megatron AJ Green Andre Johnson Larry Fitz Julio Jones
