Fans don't root for the on the field product, they root for the owners. That's why I'm a Bears fan, for sure.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 28, 2014 -> 08:52 PM) What's wrong with the hire? Don't know anything about him other than the resume. D2 national champion. Hiring d2 coaches is sort of unprecedented but if you just think of as a longtime assistant, which he was, I don't see the problem. It is honestly one of the worst hires I could imagine. We know from his assistant years at mizzou that 1. He could not recruit, because nobody he recruited was good. 2. He was an assistant toward the end on some very bad Norm teams. 3. He is old. Really old. 4. He was such a good D2 coach that no low-tier program offered him a step-out. We aren't talking about Bo Ryan here. By the time this guy builds a program he'll be at the point most coaches start thinking about retirement.

good lord, mizzou might approve the contract at 1pm and people think it may still not be known who the coach is.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 28, 2014 -> 02:06 PM) I hated GoT last night. WTF are those story lines? My least favorite scene was littlefinger having to spell this s*** out to Sansa for the second week in a row. Like...really Sansa? He told you this a week ago. What do you think he was doing with that necklace?

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 28, 2014 -> 06:40 PM) Because he finally crossed the final line, and was racist towards a legend. It is incredibly stupid and hypocritical to only now act on it, but thats how these things work I guess How stupid is Sterling though? Magic OWNs LA Elgin Baylor is also a legend. What he said obviously was so transparent and just incredibly terrible it deserves this. But it is funny to me seeing all these outlets suddenly realizing all the stuff Sterling has been accused of.

QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Apr 28, 2014 -> 04:34 PM) Heinrich had 4 of their 16 turnovers. He was terrible, but only had one more turnover than Noah and Taj had. May be true number wise but maybe 6-8 more passes almost got picked off.

Can't believe how tightlipped mizzou search has been.

Sox @ Tigers, Quintana vs. Scherzer, 4/24, 12:08, CSN
QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 24, 2014 -> 05:15 PM) My thoughts exactly. Especially for a day game. He shows up and you see how he feels right then and it should be pretty clear. Here's to hoping that somehow Beckham hits great? I guess? They did the Adam Banks test.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Apr 24, 2014 -> 03:33 PM) What's wrong with it? Back to back thursdays, backloading all home games in the last half with 2 december night games. I feel like the NFL tries to think of how much pain they can put on fans before they will stop watching, knowing they won't stop. It's like a drug dealer adding laundry detergent to the dope.

Jose Abreu general discussion
QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Apr 24, 2014 -> 03:34 PM) He'll have his ups and downs. But the early season weather hasn't seemed to bother him, and that was one of the concerns going in. He's hitting bombs off pitchers he's never seen before. He's hitting the ball to all parts of the field. I assume that you'll see pitchers make adjustments as time goes on, and I think that'll lead to more walks. If Dunn continues to have a decent year, Abreu will have a better chance to see better pitches to hit. All that being said (and assumed), 30+ HRs seems likely. Exactly, we should be prepared for an extended slump this year. Mentally, I'm guessing this year will be exhausting from the change and waiting for his parents to arrive. Hopefully it will only get better for hi.m

The Finer Things In Life
QUOTE (G&T @ Apr 23, 2014 -> 12:12 PM) I just got back from Italy and was looking to make some. What was your recipe? Honestly pretty simple. Luckily have a nice cool spot in my house that stays consistent temp. I peeled 15 lemons and cut any excess pulp away. Put the peels in a 750 mL mason jar and filled it to the top with vodka (grain alcohol would be more traditional). We let it sit for 3 weeks, and mixed it with 2 cups of simple syrup. The simple syrup recipe is probably where tastes will differ. I think we did .75 cups of sugar to 1 cup water.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 23, 2014 -> 04:26 PM) I mean, we would be better off with a lottery pick, I'm not sure there's an argument to the contrary. But I'm not blaming that on Thibs, it's not in his nature to tank and everyone knew that. Frankly if we tanked that meant the talent on this roster was not good and 1 extra player wouldn't help. Now when we look at roster we're like "man one more player and we're stacked!"

NBA Thread 2013-2014
Really not pleased with Thibs overuse yesterday. Clear he ran DJ into the ground and he had no legs in last 2 minutes when we needed him most. But I have to say, John Wall really looks like a bball player out there. Much improved. Just shows how hard the jump is to NBA point guard compared to other positions.

QUOTE (dasox24 @ Apr 22, 2014 -> 09:52 PM) I can't decide whether I'm happy with him or not. What was he doing his 1st 2 years in the league? Why did he look so schlubby 3 months ago? I mean, I'm glad he's putting in some work now but damn, he should have been doing this years ago. In his defense, he probably felt he needed to put on more weight to stay on Dline, now that he is LB he probably felt more comfortable going down to 250.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 22, 2014 -> 05:06 PM) At this point? Win a title. I think it's also Pop's player health management which is revolutionary, his continued excellent development of players, and great offense and defense. Thibs did a great job with scrubs, but Popovich is clearly best coach in NBA. So he should win.

And that's a white sox winner!!
I was thinking about fandom last night as the game thread was ripping apart our offense. As mad as we were to not hit against sanchez, how much worse do you think Tiger fans were only scoring 1 run against the top 5 worst pitching in the league?

I've been sayin to anyone who'd listen, that man down there is the best ball player I've seen since Zeke Bonura.

They tied it but having that be your last play when you have two great offensive threats shows how much of a hack Brooks is.
