  1. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 08:21 PM) McCain is up by 37.5% in Wyoming polls, I agree with what you're saying but thats a bad example. You're correct, I meant to say Montana.
  2. Just out of curiosity...with the amount of Congress and senate races that the RNC is possibly losing this election, do you think they are gonna put all their eggs in McCain victory so they can negate whatever losses they endure, thinking that after 4 years it would likely even back out?
  3. This team can do two things: 1. Deflate, press too much and fall into the abyss 2. Use this as a rallying cry and crush these freaking teams. I just don't see us deflating. Let's fight this, White Sox.
  4. just the worst news. I wish you the best CQ

    Sarah Palin

QUOTE (mreye @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 07:39 PM) You're swatting at flies, ATH. Wow. I'm surprised to learn she actually put it on Ebay. I thought she was kidding. Come on guys look at what AHB wrote after that.
  6. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 07:11 PM) US magazine may not be MSM, but they are suffering just the same it seems. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26549704/ It has been coming to my house for years, despite my protest. I just get so sick seeing all the fake celebs on the cover (Heidi Montag, anyone?) and have been trying to convince Mrs. Alpha Dog to cancel it for years. but since she got some deal for like $10 a year, she hasn't wanted to. She saw a story on the cover page, and now I get to stop that crap from coming into my house! Yah! It really is a rag. lucky man. I prefer people, if I had the choice.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 06:08 PM) Worth noting his tag line wasn't on either of those articles...but yeah, a guy who almost went to work for the McCain campaign happens to be their head guy in Washington right now...and conveniently, that's how the AP responded to each speech. I believe he is their editor.
  8. One interesting thing to note, is that Obama has resources in all 50 states. What this means to me is that even in states he loses, he will probably be closer than Kerry was in 04. What I'm getting at, is if Obama loses, I'm thinking it's likely that he still wins popular. And that would really be bad.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 06:05 PM) A week ago, the AP ran this article within 26 minutes of the end of Senator Obama's speech. Last night's AP article on McCain's speech was this one: (Came out a little over 1 hour after his speech) It seemed to be not until this mornign that the AP put out a negative sounding article on McCain's speech, and they left that to the "AP television writer" to do it. The AP is sort of the standard wire service for so many newspapers...basically, the earlier they put stuff out the more papers pick it up. So probably hundreds of newspapers carried each of those first articles, one bashing Obama's speech and one praising McCain's speech. The AP under Ron Fornier

    Sarah Palin

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 05:56 PM) ABC News: Investigation into Palin Now on Fast Track I take this as a "get you butt into gear Palin" move. She has been trying to stonewall the investigation until after the election. Reports are today that two potentially damaging witnesses already interviewed. So, maybe this is a move to get her to trestify. If she doesnt, the report gets released with mostly the "bad stuff" and no push back. I think you are right. How outrageous to suggest with the spotlight on them, to move the investigation to the board where she appointed all three of them, especially with all this "loyalty tests" coming to light.
  11. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 05:19 PM) Question for the one's who know more than me: Is it pretty much a situation where if McCain wins OH, VA, FL he will win and if Obama wins one of the three he will win? Kind of. But that's getting too caught up in 2000 and 2004 electoral maps. Now with VA close to flipping Blue and North Carolina, I'd say, in play, Michigan in play, indiana in play all these states are in play now, so we are possibly going to see a brand new electoral map. There's a couple factors we don't know: 1)How high African American turn out will be 2)How high youth turnout will be 3)How much Bob Barr will affect McCain in the south 4)How much Obama's strategy of ground game as opposed to mass ad game will work If all of those work in Obama's favor, we are looking at an electoral shift, where he can even lose in ohio and FL and it won't matter. Small states matter. In 2000, if Gore had kept his resources in NH instead of moving them to try and grab florida, he could've won new hampshire and taken the election. States like Wyoming going blue now, they make a big difference.

    Sarah Palin

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 05:44 PM) A lot of the "issues" brought up around Palin - their daughter being pregnant, for example - are pure B.S. But I must admit, things like this, and her involvement in the trooper firing, concern me. Seems she likes to use her position of power for her personal crusades and vendettas. which were some of the worst parts about the Bush admin.
  13. actually, I just will not let McCain do a speech from here on out.
  14. Okay, I'm McCain's campaign manager, first order of duty: NEVER LET HIM SPEAK IN FRONT OF A SCREEN THAT FRAMES HIM IN GREEN AGAIN! Hire me.
  15. what in the hell were they thinking with that picture in the background?
  16. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Sep 4, 2008 -> 11:17 AM) bmags, very few people read every page of the paper. Very few even LOOK at every page of the paper. Most people skim headlines and read selected stories. I guess you and I are unique. Or just plain bat-s*** wierd. Well, today was a very nice story for McCain front and center in the NY times.
  17. well then call me if they re-bring up Keating 5 and put it on A1. A13 and I read it...huh.
  18. QUOTE (Steff @ Sep 4, 2008 -> 04:42 AM) That reminds me... has he always been that... ummm... pricky? In a word, yes.
  19. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 4, 2008 -> 04:39 AM) I think people are overestimating what it takes to stand up in front of a large group of strangers and make a speech. Memorizing a speech is one thing, being able to stand up and deliver the content fluidly is another. I have spent a lot of my career speaking at conferences, and in front of large amounts of people. There is a difference when you have a small room of a hundred, and another when you are on a stage with a wireless headset speaking to a large auditorium being video broadcast. I think as long as there were so many lights I couldn't see the audience I could do a bang up job. I would Slam my fists down over and over and Point my fingers at the audience and yell at them.
  20. Bill BUrton really sucks at responses.
  21. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Sep 3, 2008 -> 07:49 PM) He should have marketed those eyepatches ah man this had me laughing pretty hard.
  22. QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 4, 2008 -> 04:26 AM) When I hear manage, I just keep thinking I don't want to elect the Kyle Orton of Presidents. (Orton being the "game manager") I want the Rex Grossman. (seriously I love Rexy, stay strong Rex)
  23. after all the shenanigans of loyalty tests and using her power, I see her as Bush pt. II more than McCain.
  24. QUOTE (CQMVP @ Sep 4, 2008 -> 03:11 AM) How was Jerry Owens in the leadoff spot last year, any worse than OC in the leadoff spot this year? Their stats are pretty much identical.... except Owens actually knows how to steal bases. But OC is a huge improvement huh? lol Some of you guys have blinders on. Cabrera is 18 for 22 in stolen bases. He has way more doubles than Owens would have had and more home runs then he would've had. And he's playing at a more premium position. He's replacing Uribe's 07 season, whilst Replacing Owens is a great Jermaine Dye, Carlos Quentin, and even at a bad year, Swish >>>erstad. so yeah, poor offseason.
