Hahahaha this is excellent

Pace just had like 5 shots at QB. If it wasn’t so clear he’d left the rest of the roster depleted with little room to address it he’d still be Gm
-
Allen’s end of roster fodder. should knock out Portis
-
It seems too difficult. But yes basically he needs to go to a third team, be released, then I think they can sign him.

This comes after a week where I was seeing a lot of decently convincing “debunking” of Brady, pointing out all of his top ten defenses compared to the other great QBs and hyping Rodgers. Brady has had some defensive carried games, but at some point our instincts are right- the last two possessions that got nowhere may have happened to Brees, may have happened to Manning or Mahomes as it did to Rodgers. But it just wouldn’t have happened to Brady. The guy has beaten the doubt out of his biggest haters.

That is very good

Give us the bucks first round pick
-
Ok, dust cleared and things seem pretty sensible. Eberflus is now on Wednesday, and Khan and Brown now on Monday appear to round up the GM group. I’d have to believe They expect in person interviews Tues/Wed and Allen on zoom Tues. Finalists would appear to be Poles (KC) and Brown (IND) with Khan a strong possibility . Maybe Glen cook too. Seems like Harbaugh isn’t happening.

Wasn’t it like weeks before they made Vera official? Like even ST? I know they think nobody cares about a bunch of 16 year old kids but to me it builds up the impression that INTL is an after thought for the org.
-
This is so dumb. It’s not like there is anything better to do. Announce this shit already.
-
Kwesi Adofo-Mensah a finalist for GM in Minny. I think that is a really intriguing possibility but would need a strong org like Minny to make work and Bears just don't have that.
-
it would be nice if one of the bulls beat writers actually became a mouth piece because it seems like they have been a tight lipped group.
-
Schoen goes to NYG. National writers pushing Flores there as well. Seemed like from buffalo beat writers even if bears prioritized him, he wanted those 2 first round picks and clean slate. I still think about, even with Morocco Brown and liking him, how Beane was GM and brought Schoen with. Schoen definitely has an eye for talent, but I still would really like a guy like Khan whom I think has a good chance at bringing good scouts in place and should have the skill of managing the assets well and giving his scouts enough shots to score. Or else you risk, like with Pace, consistently falling in love with draft targets and falling behind and never catching back up.

Engel was also hurt. Vaughn may have been up as our DH without those injuries but it definitely forced their hand. By the time Sheets was needed our 4 top OFs to start year were gone (eaton dfa), leury had to be more often at 2b, and brian goodwin was our CF. So it was injury fueled for sure. If Robert is there, Vaughn/Goodwin/Robert would have been enough to keep Sheets down.

you are welcome. Sad news about Smith, but completely understandable. So much respect for that guy.

But you also have Green/DJJ hang around the arc, so this is replacing these guys who can only slash or begrudgingly shoot some wide open corner 3s with Barnes who people have to cover. It's 4 on 5 now and it would be a very strong 5 on 5. In the playoffs, we know teams are not going to let Demar operate 1 on 1 to get these midrange buckets. So having a guy he can send out the pass to for a 3 will be huge, and he can cover a strong 4 rather than Ball and let ball and caruso wreak havoc on smaller players. The bulls have a very good team, who knows if stars align with guys playing this well again.
-
Some very welcome news I don't particularly understand why (candidate preference?), but it did seem incredibly silly to just be interviewing 1 a day and building out the list AND scheduling a 2nd coach interview. I was so excited they had a list that included Khan and Smith and guys like Joe Hortiz...but then they never were announced. Hopefully they did actually interview.

I think he makes them a lot better. 1. The bulls are the best percentage 3pt team in the league but lowest in attempts. They have a math problem. Their "4s" like Green and DJJ only put up 1-2 3s per game. Barnes puts up 5 and hits them at a 45% clip 2. Because Lavine, Vuc, and Demar operate so much in the mid-range, you don't want a guy that also needs to play there. Barnes would be fine just hanging and getting easy corner 3s. Barnes basically shoots 3s or close 2s. And he CAN back a guy down if needed, which is helpful in the 2nd unit. 3. He is not a great defensive player but he has often guarded the best offensive player on the opposing team and been neutral, and that is on a very stupid defensive team in the kings. The Bulls WITH caruso and ball are actually quite smart on defense, and it's believable he'd do the same. 4. He gets to the line 5 times per game, the guys he is replacing do not get there consistently He's a bit like our discussions of Jeff McNeil for the sox. He's not the greatest player in the world but his strengths fit nearly all of the white sox weaknesses (LH, Low K, Strong OBP, Strong Defense).

Personally I think it is worth exploring a better player than a buyout It is tough though. There are few bad teams and those that are truly bad are mostly just very young. If you can get Barnes you just have to get him. I mean, Ibaka doesn't preclude you from anything. And I mean off the bench is he that much better than what Green would get you (Green's numbers are vs. Starters keep in mind)
-
such a bummer. I don't think we've had a single game where all of our starting 5 + Coby were available. With Ayo playing like Ayo is, I wonder if he can actually be the piece that gets us a starting 4. We do have ample guards.
-
While the Eberflus process was bad yesterday, reports like these remind me so much of the CW on the bears keeping Pace despite now knowing they had polian working on replacements for weeks.
-
I like Morocco Brown, but I feel like the opposite set up would be better. I don’t think there’s a shortage of good scouts in the NFL, I think it’s better the guy in charge makes sure the scouts have enough opportunities to get the right guys. Brown is well rounded enough I think he would be good in the role, but a great scout in a GM role is no sure thing.
-
I've heard optimists say perhaps they have circled their GMs at this point, and if they all had eberflus overlapping, why not. But it seems unlikely. More likely they just loved eberflus. Colts DVOA for defense wasn't as impressive as I'd expected. But I still think he's a pretty talented coach and seems well liked. Should have a lot of coach contacts. Also MIZ.
-
Dodds withdraws. This is the bad news day I see. He had a personality I worried about at the top, plus in an interview with a beat writer he loved scouting so much I wondered if he really wanted a GM role like this. But, maybe he told George and Ted what they didn't want to hear and in 5 years we'll be interviewing his asst gm
-
Eberflus isn't in playoffs though and is just a few hours away. I have a hard time giving them benefit of the doubt on that.
