Even so, the problem is them creating a shortlist for the GM rather than allowing the GM to run the search based on the info already gathered. That is unless they are farther along in a GM but that seems unlikely given the names still to interview.
-
Wow my confidence in this search just cratered with the announcement they are scheduling next round HC interviews before GM. Same shit different year.

Eh, I'm sure they've already considered every scenario players could propose and worked through what they are going to press for vs ease up on, they'll take days to respond because they think it's awesome to do. Eventually as deadlines come down the hands will get revealed. I do think the players need to prioritize a bit more on what is most important.

Never said anything about worst, in fact I said this: I am pointing out that our classes have rarely been much different in volume than what was initially reported from Badler. Right now it's at 3. So if it's 4 or 5, that still leaves this as a very small class. My issue with this is it would make more sense with the way Shirley is drafting by going after 2-3 key draft targets to bring in volume with intl, instead they are both going after smaller classes. I have no doubt that some additional transactions will occur (as with Bailey, Guzman, Rodriguez), but with an additional six months I don't understand why we are being so conservative with our budgets.

Can't tell you how exciting it was for me to see a white sox players name in a writers tweet. Can't wait for this to resolve ? Good for Dylan though. He seems like a guy who will enjoy Boras' metaphors.

I sorta gagged when I saw this, but after reading up on him was glad he's included (also vikes are going to meet with him too): He's not had a good defensive roster or offense to take any heat off the defense yet, and is generally seen as overperforming with the units (much more so last year). The NY media all sees it as a priority he stays. But in reading some articles - one of the few writeups of belicheck disciples that sees affible and that the key to his dominance is adaptability and changing your scheme to antagonize the other team and put your players in best position. Not sure if he's ready yet and most concerned about staff, but he definitely seems like he's on a fast track to being an HC. Reminds me of Vrabel honestly, he came to TN when HOU had a pretty terrible year. I think it's good when these guys are tagged early as HC material for more than coordinator dominance.

It was our second year and the As, Astros, Padres and Nats all were under penalty but managed 15+ player classes. So your sample size for classes under the new CBA where Sox weren’t under penalty is like 3. Not sure why you would be confident in the size.

While this may sound reassuring in 2018 we signed 5 players initially and only like 30% of our pool. So 3 players on 75% isn’t that out there. And even if it’s 5 or 6, that would again be a very small class.

Dodds interviews today. I'm a bit surprised how few interviews a day are happening, but actually very impressed the Bears are not rushing this. The fact that they are mimicking the vikings search is again making me hopeful. As much as Schoen/Daboll seems great, the whole "let's just recreate what another franchise does here with their #2s" never seems to work that well does it? Otherwise we'd all be terrified of how the Texans are about to become New England south. Not saying I'm against either, I like both, and Daboll has that key trait of adjusting to counter opponents weaknesses. His career actually reminds me a lot of Arians and even Fangio. But I don't think it's wise now to just throw plans out the window and throw ourselves at them because they had a peak game.

Why are we sure? This isn't the first time the initial draft class has come in and we thought there would be more. I'm sure they will sign more people, but in the past that has indicated the kinds of guys that have shown up in DSL in June transactions.

No announcement, but I’ve said the same thing three years now. Badler doesn’t miss much.
-
Absolutely hate college rules and in general when we treat specific parts of a game as different That’s the risk when you don’t go out of bounds. It was just a dumb dumb play.
-
Sox 3 announced signings are the fewest of any team. Dodgers announced like 30 players.
-
So we have like $1.2M still unattributed.
-
I think he’d rather be a major leaguer but maybe we can ask him if he wants to be charlottes starting 3b instead.
-
Was hoping we’d get some new names today, just 3 so far

Vera just stayed last year, so it was the concern. I can’t speak to particulars, mainly was concerned because it kept happening with every Cuban prospect (Sanchez, Robert, Vera). With Colas’ age though it just seemed like an awful idea

Stupid white Sox trying to improve a player
-
Y2Jimmy0 said Colas may be stateside. I was really hoping that would be case. For him, had to be a tough choice but he would have been potentially sacrificing ever getting a mlb pay day getting so far behind the ball.

BA also has DR RHP Angel Cruz

This is such a weird way to phrase a report

It is curious with the QBs under Nagy, how they all looked exactly the same bad. The greater experience and processing time gave a little flavor differently but when mitch was running well was about the only time it all looked ok.
-
I guess if you were hopeful you would see things improving slightly each time. Angelo being hired in june, holy crap I forgot about that. Had no idea Mel Tucker was told he could only run lovie's scheme. Obviously he's gone on to become a better coach, you'd think at some point they'd have said "hey maybe we should find a guy who has run a cover 2". Nagy had plenty to work with, QB issues aside. Ryan Pace and Nagy could have worked if they were the right choices, but it wasn't the ideal starting point ever. And even with fields that's the case again. That said, this search is just so different. It should have never taken this long, and plenty of orgs have had the right set-up and failed, but hopefully things are finally aligned here.
