  1. Unless a player is undermining the clubhouse and a jerk hurting the rest of the team while being a darling with the media... you always protect your players in public. Last night just confirmed this weird, weird time we are in: - We have a great, young, fun team that fights like hell for each other - Our owner whose main priority is making sure baseball labor doesn't make more than he thinks they should hired a manager whose main priority is making sure baseball players play the rules he thinks they should Not white sox players for either...baseball players. Then their second-order concern is, you know, if the white sox are good, great. But most importantly that everyone else know that they are standing up for how they think baseball should operate. With this fun, incredible team stuck in the middle. Ain't it always the way.

2 hits for adolfo, but pretty boring night. All the pitchers are like 28 in A ball or milb free agents
  3. He’s announcing remotely isn’t he?
  4. Mike trout out 6-8 weeks... sad. Paves way for yermvp though
  5. This this this this
  6. To be fair the book sorta did that too. Also made a high school pitcher a prime example of his scouts being dumb but he ended up having a decent career (forgot who, played for tigers during their lean years), while the catcher it lauded never did anything. It did predict a good career for youkilis tho. Still an awesome book, Michael Lewis when he has the goods is a great read.
  7. No I disagree.
  8. Thibs was able to keep buy in from his players despite riding them into the ground for as long as he did by never selling them out in public. Tony should do the same. This is about feeding Tony’s ego, nothing to do with real discipline.
  9. perhaps we should dust off those posts about how tony tended to have very public, toxic feuds with players on his team. I was worried about TA, but maybe trying to scape goat the rookie who has carried this team through some injuries is unwise.
  10. Yermin was already the people's champ but this will only cement it further. I'm sure hell get big love next PA in guaranteed rate (unless tony sits him forever)
  11. Realistically though our players really shouldn't be blowing past signs so often.
  12. Eaton, Grandal...both would be fine. Eaton especially would clearly be a good 2 hole batter for today with how he's come on lately.
  13. I would probably play Hamilton every day in CF too. I just don't think people realize that Lamb being less bad vs. RHP this year actually makes him one of our better hitters vs. RHP, and career-wise he's been plus against RHP.
  14. Billy Hamilton is uber playable vs. lefties, and has a 26 wRC+ against Righties.
  15. so, looking at splits...after you get past our core guys who maybe tony doesn't want to move around the heart of the order...there aren't many great options, so lamb isn't horrendous. But Mendick in a small sample size has been better against RHP than LHP. But if you still aren't comfortable with Mendick in the OF...I see how you get here. Hamilton is unplayable vs. Righties, so Garcia has to be CF. Abreu out means Vaughn needs to be 1b. So anyway, I'll actually say this isn't the worst decision, but I'd rather play Mendick in LF and also just do TA Moncada Mercedes Grandal Eaton Madrigal Vaughn Mendick Garcia
  16. Obviously Lamb will hit another homer. I think he should play against righties, eventually he should get up to career norms, but this 2-hole stuff...especially with his 30% k-rate this year, is just so dumb.
  17. Sox Fans: PERHAPS IT WAS THE MENTAL HEALTH ANGUISH OF BEING ASKED TO THROW A BASEBALL AT A WHITE SOX PLAYERS HEAD
  18. I'll own it if I'm wrong but I think sox fans are way in their own heads about this and there will be no retaliation and this guy was brought up because he's dominated the minors and they had a reason to do it today for unrelated reasons.
  19. Dang this guys ERA numbers are crazy good but he only throws 90, apparently has a great change. Sounds like a guy that would destroy previous sox teams...but this ain't your blah blah
  20. I actually do like it too, and do think it makes the game more fun, I just don't think the same "online shame pile-on" that is used (rightfully) against voices in baseball that think retaliation is good should be applied to people who just don't like players breaking unwritten rules/celebrating. And it does feel like it's treated similarly.
  21. It's okay for people to say "I don't like showboating or bat flips". It's not okay for them to throw a 95 mph fastball at a player for doing it. We've largely reduced the throwing at players for batflipping, and people have carried the same energy into people just saying "I don't like it". People can dislike it!
