  1. Yeah I'd be fine pretty excited with some of those names. Obviously have flagged Stovall before but his lack of defensive profile is a bit concerning.
  2. It has absolutely been the most interesting question to me as well. I love minor league ball, love minor league stadiums. I really wonder after last year if it is actually the best way to prepare baseball players to play at the highest level.
  3. It's so weird following this right now. I'm mostly just in a "take what's good and be happy, but don't worry about slow starts". I mean when was the last time dalquist/kelly/thompson played in front of a crowd? Bailey jumps from DSL to freakin Kanny. OTOH, when I see Jose Rodriguez just doing Jose Rodriguez things, producing like he always has, I find that meaningful ha. I do think the Birmingham/AAA guys that had schaumburg or more mlb camp run, I'm happy to see them all with pretty good starts. Stiever though, man not sure he is gonna be anything unless he finds his stuff again.

    Heuer

Heur is actually how my mom pronounces hi with her baltimore accent.
  5. cc @Chicago White Sox Don't take me sharing this as evidence that I enjoy the exhaustingly boring nfl schedule release day, which I am forced to read all the nfl writers tweet out as if it is scoops despite it not being at all interesting.
  6. The Adam Jahns article this morning on the behind the scenes for selecting fields was great but there was a paragraph or two of Pace reiterating how every scout had consensus on Fields and it made me cringe thinking about Trubs.
  7. All accolades should go to the actual talent doing it, but I have been so impressed with how well prepared these players have been considering the circumstances. Getz really does deserve credit for how well Schaumburg appears to have maintained progression on these players while also getting them ready to play in Major League games - the #1 goal of Schaumburg. AAA is back now and should make things easier, but the returns on the Schaumburg experiment were excellent and a big part of the sox success.
  8. Mieses with another HR, great start for him. Man feels like no matter how much talent we put on Kanny that team always ends up awful.
  9. I wouldn’t be too thrilled with Hill honestly.
  10. You can't really guarantee any new fanbase will take to a team. But, I think Las Vegas has shown a desire for pro sports teams that make it a good fit. Raleigh/Nashville are growing like crazy, but I'd bet Las Vegas handling a baseball team better. Plus, you wouldn't have to deal with re-alignment. I could see SLC put up a fight with its growth as well.
  11. People are very mad they haven't performed a "sell-it-to-the-studs" rebuild and instead just tried to get better every year and hold it against them. They are the milwaukee brewers of the NL West...except with a 200 million payroll. Like a thomas the tank engine with like a rocket ship taped to his back.
  12. Ah, that seems kinda like a hail mary from that mayor though. If amazon calls tomorrow to build a huge warehouse there he'll probably just take that. But anyway, I'd be supportive. The Park District stuff is such a pain, and it really is about as inconvenient as a "central"-city stadium could get. But the football experience is just different than baseball or other major sports, mainly with it playing so few games.
  13. At 22, I would be pretty excited about a talent like that. I think a lot of the college hitters were unfairly maligned early, and are now starting to turn it around. Given our new "everyone can be an outfielder" I'd be interested in hearing more on Peyton Stovall as he keeps rising with his bat, despite a limited defensive profile. And on opposite end, Will Taylor sounds cool but I'm guessing he'll be expensive as hell.
  14. What are you referring to? The only thing on this I remember was Adam Hoge writing an 'I wish' column when the race track said it would be going into bankruptcy after not finding a buyer.
  15. Listened on the radio over a long car ride. I remember so many stats of Sox horrible records through the years in games without a home run. Kinda nuts having a successful offense with zero power currently.
  16. It actually started ringing a bell when I saw some Sox blogs on it. Kinda black out on 2020 stuff.
  17. So I was really confused about Duke Ellis. His milb said he was drafted by the Padres but found this, he was a udfa signing last year (the 5 round draft) https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.burntorangenation.com/platform/amp/2020/6/19/21297378/duke-ellis-signs-chicago-white-sox-kamron-fields-ncaa-transfer-portal Starting CF in W-S he must have impressed a bit

Bham was bad after but McClure was good. Who knows timeline but after spring training I feel pretty good he may be SP depth or BP piece. Definitely wasn’t his trajectory two years ago.
  19. Good lord, this is so juvenile. Please just start a chain email for stuff like this.
  20. Perhaps pujols could be turned into some sort of double-agent that we allow him playing time to chase records if he convinces his mentor and manager to retire.
  21. That 2010 team was a lot of fun too, and it all just seemed like it came to a screeching halt when that idiotic move was made. Seems familiar. Lillibridge was weirdly good in June that year, Andruw Jones was awesome. If they didn't roll with Kotsay at DH that's a playoff team. 88 wins...crazy.

First two nights offense was a lot of fun. I thought bats would be way behind.
