  1. Well, he said that slowing down the offense to the 1980s would help fix the toughness and defense, but it turned out it just made their core young prospects worse and didn't fix their defense at all (all with a better roster than Fred was working with). Their defense is still bad, but now at least they can score, their key young pieces sans Dunn are developing, and what changed was him going back to the offense that he said was causing all of their problems by "shooting too quickly" and too far away from the rim causing rebound issues.
  2. Otto Porter has been down this year but has been a good wing for years and just had a very good game.
  3. Otto Porter doing what he was begged to do in Washington: being more of an initiator and finding his shot. 35 points.
  4. It will be when we least expect it.
  5. Roster. Construction. And Boylen running Hoibergs offense. I didn’t love Hoiberg but it’s ridiculous he didn’t get to have a shot with Lauri this year.
  6. Was at a steak house tonight, no Hahn. Excellent experience at Ponderosa again though.
  7. Yep, feel the same. Save us matt lisle.
  8. He's going to be a youtube unboxing influencer showing off custom kids shoes
  9. At some point in the next couple days, manny's camp will come to the sox with a suddenly lower demand, they will finish out the details and it will be done. I really doubt they are even negotiating now but I do doubt that the padres are sitting on top of the white sox offer (they haven't even freakin met him yet)
  10. I think we could too but as I think about what's necessary to build the team out for fun I try to take a conservative number. I do think it again re enforces how valuable it would be to sign manny now. edit: to too
  11. That's true and a decent point for locking in a salary like harper and machado in today's dollars. This won't make any sense, but its easier for me to translate this years top salary along with what I would anticipate arb 2 and 3 numbers of our prospects and expected contract amounts for our players in today's dollars to better approximate what roster makejup will be available in 2022 than trying to guess the inflated player values of 2022/3 dollars.
  12. With inflation (i'm pretty sure i'll get this wrong) I think our 2011 recent peak salary would be around 145mill, so I typically forecast a top salary of 150 mill.
  13. I'm interested, less so in rotisserie (i'll not check past may)
  14. Dang 73 won!? Curses!
  15. His performance in interviews has been very good but still not someone i turn the dial to listen to, but that maybe due to mcneil for me (not a fan personally)
  16. Rendon is basically a superstar in an arbitrators eyes, but we will have an additional 4 years of arbitration growth (and arbitrators have been increasingly pro-player).
  17. Harrison probably a good bet for a major league deal, thanks. I'm honestly gonna be surprised if Carlos Gonzalez makes it, and Span at this point feels like when we used to sign Bourjos
  18. I think a good illustration of this is the white sox spent $24 million this year acquiring two decent bullpen arms and a 5th starter. It adds up really quickly as you add even marginal depth.
  19. I think this weekend is going to be quite busy. My guesses for actual mlb contracts signed of who is left: (harpchado obvs) Keuchel Kimbrel Moustakas Gio Jose Iglesias Dietrich Marwin Gonzalez adam Jones On Fence on: Gattis, Buchholz, X Cedeno, Sipp Everyone else is likely gonna grab a minor league deal, and obviously quite a few may be like melky was last year just waiting for some injuries.
  20. It's going to be so embarrassing for Flacco to be unseated by a rookie two years in a row.
  21. I underestimated how much more impatient I would be for this after seeing pitchers and catchers report in arizona
  22. I place a lot of value in scouts discussion on the offensive or batting impact of prospects and their pitching motions and pitches and it's future impact. I place a lot less value in body projection and position projection.
  23. Eminor3rd 12:39 Could you elaborate a bit more on the flaws you mentioned in Eloy Jimenez's write-up? Specifically RE: body size, injury proneness? Eric A Longenhagen 12:39 Forgive me but I think listing his entire injury history in the writeup is pretty elaborate.\\ +++ I am a fan of kiley and eric's writing and personality, but as a sox fan hoping to get insight, it has been incredibly annoying the past 3 months having them answer 10,000 words on every yankees prospect that's asked and basically only answering questions on nick madrigal, and stuff like this. But, I also worry that this reflects a negative attitude from industry toward sox prospects.
  24. I'm just hopin we don't see anything like Rodon not pitching even though everyone else is pitching and they lie and act like it's a new schedule.
  25. I mean there is asking rick hahn and there is asking jon jay. Jon Jay can't sign manny. The content being produced from asking jon jay manny questions isn't very good and I'd rather the players get more baseball questions soon and get me the classic spring training fluff.
