    QUOTE(dasox24 @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 10:19 PM) "Legends of the Hidden Temple"? That show rocked. What about guts?
  2. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 01:17 PM) The Bears could never, ever begin to approach the Elite 4. New England Jacksonville Buffalo Carolina Let's take a look at this more closely. I will only list players who are above average (aka solid) or better. If you're merely adequate, you represent a hole as far as I'm concerned. First off, one of the deepest defensive squads in the history of the NFL: New England FS: Eugene Wilson (All-Pro Caliber) SS: Rodney Harrison (All-Pro Caliber) CB: Duane Starks (Solid), Randall Gay (Solid) CB: Asante Samuel (Solid), Tyrone Poole (Solid) OLB: Willie McGinnest (Solid), Rosey Colvin (Solid) ILB: Ted Johnson (Solid) ILB: Chad Brown (Solid), Monty Beisel (Solid) OLB: Mike Vrabel (All-Pro Caliber) DE: Richard Seymour (All-Pro Caliber) DT: Vince Wilfork (All-Pro Caliber) DE: Ty Warren (All-Pro Caliber), Jarvis Green (Solid) I'm counting 16 guys who are solid (aka above average) or better. There is not one hole on this defense. It's New England, and then the following 3 teams: Jacksonville FS: Deon Grant (Solid) SS: Donovan Darius (All-Pro Caliber) CB: Rashean Mathis (All-Pro Caliber) CB: Kiwaukee Thomas (Solid) OLB: Akin Oyodele (Solid) MLB: Mike Peterson (All-Pro Caliber) OLB: Daryl Smith (Solid), Greg Favors (Solid) DE: Paul Spicer (Solid) DT: Marcus Stroud (All-Pro Caliber), Tony Williams (Solid) DT: John Henderson (All-Pro Caliber), Rob Meier (Solid) DE: Reggie Hayward (All-Pro Caliber), Bobby McCray (Solid) Buffalo FS: Troy Vincent (Solid) SS: Lawyer Milloy (All-Pro Caliber) CB: Nate Clements (All-Pro Caliber) CB: Terrence McGee (Solid) OLB: Jeff Posey (Solid) MLB: London Fletcher (Solid) OLB: Takeo Spikes (All-Pro Caliber) DE: Chris Kelsay (All-Pro Caliber) DT: HOLE DT: Sam Adams (All-Pro Caliber) DE: Aaron Schobel (All-Pro Caliber) Carolina FS: HOLE SS: Mike Minter (Solid) CB: Ken Lucas (Solid), Ricky Manning (Solid) CB: Chris Gamble (Solid) OLB: Thomas Davis (Solid) MLB: Dan Morgan (All-Pro Caliber) OLB: Will Witherspoon (Solid) DE: Julius Peppers (All-Pro Caliber) DT: Brentson Buckner (Solid) DT: Kris Jenkins (All-Pro Caliber) DE: Mike Rucker (All-Pro Caliber) Now that we have the elite 4 out of the way, we have the teams ranked 5 through 13 IMO in no particular order because it's too tough to call at this point. Those teams: Chicago Pittsburgh Philadelphia Baltimore Denver Dallas Washington Tampa Bay San Diego Now, let's take a closer look. As I have said, I won't even attempt to put these teams in any particular order. I'll also have a 14-22 bracket for teams that are middle-of-the-road. Some might wonder why I don't have the NY Jets or Atlanta in the Top 13, but I'll go on to explain later. They'd round out the Top 15 IMO. Chicago FS: Mike Green (Solid) SS: Mike Brown (All-Pro Caliber) CB: Charles Tillman (Solid) CB: HOLE OLB: Lance Briggs (Solid) MLB: Brian Urlacher (All-Pro Caliber) OLB: HOLE DE: Alex Brown (Solid) DT: HOLE DT: Tommie Harris (All-Pro Caliber) DE: Adawale Ogunleye (All-Pro Caliber) Now, scroll back up real quick and compare the elite 4 with the Bears. We just can't f*** with those teams. Philadelphia FS: Brian Dawkins (All-Pro Caliber) SS: Mike Lewis (All-Pro Caliber) CB: Sheldon Brown (All-Pro Caliber) CB: Lito Shepherd (Solid) OLB: HOLE MLB: Jeremiah Trotter (Solid) OLB: HOLE DE: Jevon Kearse (All-Pro Caliber) DT: HOLE DT: Corey Simon (All-Pro Caliber) DE: HOLE Pittsburgh FS: Chris Hope (Solid) SS: Troy Polamalu (All-Pro Caliber) CB: Deshea Townsend (Solid) CB: HOLE OLB: Joey 3. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 05:10 PM) Was it really not raining for a long period of time at Fenway during this delay? That's what it sounds like.
  4. Carl and Pauly have been outstanding lately.
  5. QUOTE('94WorldChamps @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 01:30 PM) Three woids: it's over.
  6. Blum with a shot right at Adam Stern. 1-2-3 for Clement.
  7. QUOTE(SnB @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 01:10 PM) i know i don't speak just for myself on this one: you have jumped many posters to be the most annoying person on this board. i'd hate to see what you are like during an 02 type season. Put me down on that list.
  8. Nice play by Pauly. 1-2-3 inning with a lot of pitches thrown.
  9. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 01:02 PM) HE GAWN ^
  10. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 01:03 PM) Not as ridiculous as Buehrle probably losing Tuesday Night against Santana. I'm still waiting for this thread you were going to create about Buehrle not being an ace. You realize you can't find anything to back it up?
  11. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 07:14 PM) I don't. I was obviously wrong. We have no one who can shut them down. Our pitching is overrated. Probably because of the poor offenses we faced in our own division. It's obvious our pitching isn't as good as advertised. All I know is that come playoff time, I wouldn't bet on a White Sox advancement. Holy crap you are ridiculous.
  12. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 12:53 PM) The two guys we have in the minors with similar upsides are McCarthy and Young. And Roosevelt Brown.
  13. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 12:54 PM) So when they say "player X" cleared waviers, does that mean he cleared and now its over, or does that mean he cleared, and now any team can make a trade proposal to him?? Once a guy clears waivers any team can make a trade for that player.
  14. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 12:39 PM) Carl is adequate in the OF and would be better than what I saw from Ozuna last night. Pablo should never have been out there in LF Pablo was actually pretty damn good in left field during spring training. I guess you an expect a bit of a dropoff when this is what his 2nd time playing left this year?
  15. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 12:35 PM) *patiently awaits aces to shut down a team worth a damn* You're absolutely correct. Mark and Jon have not shut down any good offenses this year. :headshake
  16. QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 12:31 PM) Another interesting thing to consider, Chris Young hit leadoff for Birmingham last nite. Could mean nothing. Good point. Now that would be an interesting call up, personally I'd rather have Owens get the call this year before Young to leadoff.
  17. Think Jennie Finch knew she was wearing a Geoff Blum jersey?
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 12:18 PM) Can he really get the job done at the MLB level? The Willie Harris comparison scares me a little. We'll only find out if we give him a shot. I'm sure you agree that it'd be better to give Owens a shot if Scotty is out for a while instead of leading Pablo and Timo off every game.
  19. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 12:11 PM) Like Garcia, he's always a little shaky at first, but usually settles down afterwards. We need to get to him early or it's probably lights out Unfortunately we killed him that inning and got nothing.
  20. QUOTE(3E8 @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 11:37 AM) Chuck LaMar is just totally insane. Yes, yes he is.
