The Gigantic all encompassing TRADE THREAD
Rowand44 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 29, 2005 -> 12:35 AM) FWIW that was the Rowand 2HR game at Fenway. Ben Davis also had 4 RBI. The Ben Davis is god days, I rememer those well. -
Ken Rosenthal picks 5 Sox for All-Star Game...

QUOTE(Carlo Paz @ Jun 29, 2005 -> 12:34 AM) I am truly f***ing baffled at the talk of Konerko as an all-star. Can someone please explain it? He hasn't been allstar caliber this year imo but the reason it's being discussed is because outside of Teixiera first baseman has been a disappointing position in the american league. -

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 29, 2005 -> 12:32 AM) Chicago White Sox IP H R ER BB SO HR Contreras W(10-5) 6 4 4 4 5 8 1 He got the win and 8 strikeouts while only allowing 4 hits, the problem is he walked 5 and gave up 4 ERs. Not very encouraging. Ok, thanks kalapse, I remember he was in a bunch of jams that game and I think he worked around a few of 'em so maybe that's why I thought he had a real good outing. -

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 29, 2005 -> 12:31 AM) If he pitched a decent game in Fenway, I'd be inclined to call it a fluke. Fair enough, I'm not disagreeing with what you said I'm just pretty sure he did pitch one good game there. All I know is Mark, Jon, Freddy and Jason in a 5 or 7 game series is just nasty. That would be real hard to beat. -

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 29, 2005 -> 12:28 AM) The reason I'd make that deal ... The road to the AL crown is going to go through Boston. Contreras cannot win at Boston. That is a proven fact. If we are down 2-1 in Boston, I'd much rather have Scmidt on the mound than Contreras. Who knows what the situation will be with Hernandez? IIRC he did pitch a pretty good game at fenway for us last year at some point but when he was with NY he definitely got lit up against the Red Sox. -

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 29, 2005 -> 12:10 AM) This is a tough call to make. Is Schmidt the same guy who can pound the zone with 98 mph heat and be an ace or is he a guy that will sometimes hit 94 or 95 and struggle as he's coming back from his injury. Alphonzo's numbers look decent, but will he struggle with being in the AL for the first time? Crede may not be gang busters at the plate, but he's got to be worth an half an out per game defensively over the average 3B. I'm very leary of moving Crede right now as he has been an achor of our improved team defense which has helped our pitcher's so much this year. I'd move BMac, Anderson and Tracey for Schmidt, but I wouldn't allow Crede or Sweeney to get away. Just MHO. That's a great package and would probably land Schmidt in a heartbeat. Honestly, I make that deal for me if we can get to the playoffs and go in there throwing Buehrle, Garland, Garland and Schmidt in a short series is to much to pass up imo. I agree about Joe though, the left side of the infield is as good as you'll find in baseball imo, I'm not sure I want to mess with that even with their offensive struggles. -
QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 11:53 PM) Was he really that good or did our lineup make him look better than he actually is? How many K's looking did he get? He was really, really good tonight. When you hit corners like he did today no offense is going to hit you.

QUOTE(Wolverine31 @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 11:35 PM) Oh really, if it was such a joke that you are all dumber after reading why does Mark Buehrle have to say this in the game recap: "The man upstairs is a Sox fan this year," said Buehrle with a wry smile. "There are games that we shouldn't be winning that we are winning. It's the way this team is. We keep battling, and everything is clicking for us." Baseball Prospectus has done studies on one run wins and it has to do with luck entirely. You aren't as good as your record and will come crashing back down to Earth next season without additions. Edit: Hermanson wasn't good. He was facing Young and Monroe. Anybody could get those hacking clowns out in a clutch situation. Fantastic a delusional tigers fan. The Twins have been quite lucky for the last 3 years, haven't they?

I'm going to say this about Roberston I don't care if he doesn't live up to some of your qualifications for a great starting pitcher but he was awesome tonight. He was hitting corners all night, the ump was giving him the inside corner to righties and he was starting that 2 seamer at them and just froze 'em. His performance was outstanding tonight and no offense would have hit him, he was just that good on this night.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 11:40 PM) We won, right? Apparently not. I must have watched the wrong game. Is this redsox talk??

QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 11:29 PM) Neither I would love to have Mike Morse as our SS right now.... The guy is hitting 0.395, 1 HR, 9 RBI, 2 SB, 0.461 OBP in 24 games Yeah, small sample size but he looks promising. Please note I am not whining about the Freddie trade. I still think it was a great trade as we have a solid starting pitching core for now and the near future, and I have no qualms with the trade whatsoever given hindsight is always 20/20......but it sure would look promising right now if we had Morse playing on this team. A grinder like him low in the order would be awesome....with that average he would have 3 times the RBI here and at least 3 times the runs scored with Pods, Guch, Frank batting after him (assuming he would play in the #9 hole) With s***ty, s***ty defense. No thanks I'm keeping Juan.

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 06:55 PM) I don't really see a big difference between Elton Brand and Sean May. That's the comparison I've used a lot as well.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 06:51 PM) Green keeps failling. May, Okafor in the paint=promising I actually hate May and think he will bust though. 6'8"... I think May is going to be an absolute stud but I hate him as well for obvious reasons.
