  1. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 05:07 PM) Exactly, but I said it to help his argument. IMO, they don't even have 3 aces. But I'll give him time to come up with his list. I'll help him out, there is NO team in baseball with 3 aces at this point.
  2. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 05:04 PM) Most people say Prior, Nut-Grabber and Mr. IR. So I gave him that one just in case he wanted to mention that team. I would say, even they don't have 3 aces. Prior's an ace no doubt about that, Zambrano has more to prove last year he was fantastic this year he's been average and Wood isn't and never will be anywhere near an ace.
  3. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 05:02 PM) Okay, name me teams with 3 aces(with realistic shots at the playoffs). I guess if you want to count the Cubs and that's pretty much it. Bullpens are what you need in the postseason and right now, ours isn't that strong at all. It's good, but not as good as everyone else's. We also don't have an as good 3B as the rest of the teams who have a chance at the playoffs. That's coming from someone who loves Crede. The cubs 3 aces are who??
  4. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 04:59 PM) ^ Front court depth, or a big 2 That's about it. I'm going to 3rd that statement, he'd be an awesome fit here imo.
  5. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 04:55 PM) It look's like Roger Powell might go undrafted. Would he be a viable pick-up as a back-up big man? To small to be a big man in the NBA.
  6. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 04:46 PM) I wouldn't say it's not a big deal, Welsch is pretty solid. Celtic then a Cav. Welsch is actually a guy I would have loved to see the Bulls go after.
  7. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 03:50 PM) You also have to realize that if you pitch when the team is down by 1 or 2, you are not going to get a hold, but to keep the opposition at bay, not allowing them to score any more runs is vital. This argument is even more true considering this current team. With Cliff being able to keep the opposition at bay the Sox have come back so many times in the late innings.
  8. A couple of Bulls playoff games back in the glory years were unreal, also the Northwester vs. Michigan game a few years back where a train fumbled and NU pulled it out. That was by far the most exciting game I've ever been to, that was unreal.
  9. QUOTE(jerseysox @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 03:31 PM) if he was as good as you claim he is, he would be closing games. it's so hard debating things with people who are 17 and would rather let someone f*** their girlfriend as opposed to letting the cubs win the series over the sox. You're unreal. All you have to backup your argument is that Wickman closes games and since you have nothing at all to back it up you stoop to how old people are. Well guess what a bunch of 17 year olds just out argued you with ease, so what does that say about you?
  10. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 03:23 PM) See i have always really liked cotts as you know. But at the beginning of the year you have to take a bet like that, especially considering i am not the optimist you are, no one really is. This is true but as I've told you Neal is one of the guys I've always felt strong about, I've always thought he was going to be really, really good.
  11. QUOTE(jerseysox @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 03:23 PM) i listed you 12 guys who i think are all-star pitchers. the one guy you don't think is going to go is bob wickman, the saves leader. i am willing to make wagers with anyone and everyone that cliff politte isn't going to the all-star game. i'll bet ANYTHING on this. We're arguing that he should be there, most of us realize he probably won't be there but he's definitely deserving.
  12. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 03:21 PM) Already have a bet with wite on it and rowand. Afraid to make bets with me anymore??
  13. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 03:18 PM) His era will be around four at the end of the year. He has alot of things against him now. Are we going to make another sig bet?? Because you're already going to owe me one.
  14. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 03:14 PM) Indians were suppose to have an awful bullpen... i was told this by everyone and they thought i was crazy for thinking other wise. You also thought Hermey was gonna be bad
  15. QUOTE(jerseysox @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 03:09 PM) you got me. i can't fight that logic. Here's the logic: Politte has an era of more then a run and a half lower then Wickmans, less hits allowed, less bb/9, more k's/9. Bascially every single stat Cliff has been better in.
  16. QUOTE(jerseysox @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 03:03 PM) note to soxtalk -- this is not, i repeat, NOT, rotisserie baseball. Ok, well what would you like to look at era?? K's?? What??
  17. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 03:00 PM) Wickman is the AL saves leader. He stays. Who cares if he's the saves leader, Politte's stats trump every one of Wickman's.
  18. QUOTE(jerseysox @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 02:57 PM) All-Star pitchers Mark Buerhle Jon Garland Kenny Rogers Roy Halladay Bartolo Colon Matt Clement Johan Santana Mariano Rivera BJ Ryan Eddie Guardado Dustin Hermanson Bob Wickman Alright. Who gets thrown off the island so the Holy Lord of Middle Relief can pitch in the All-Star Game? Wickman's been good, Politte's been better.
  19. QUOTE(SuperSteve @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 02:26 PM) He throws hard as hell. I never said obvious too, but IMO he will be good. I never said he is going to be great, or a Cy Young winner, but he has the stuff to be a good solid pitcher. I'd sure as hell take him. He's got dynamite stuff there is no doubt about that.
  20. QUOTE(jerseysox @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 02:29 PM) please. tell me why. Because middle relievers our a positions they're in your bullpen just like a closer. Just because middle relievers don't pitch in the 9th inning doesn't mean they're not just as important as a closer. You can argue whether or not Cliff is an allstar but to say he shouldn't be because he's a 7-8th inning guy is just ridiculous.
  21. QUOTE(jerseysox @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 12:51 PM) i truly believe that if cliff politte was a freaking brewer, none of us would care if he made the all-star team. and you know why? because he's a freaking middle reliever!!!! this is the ALL-STAR GAME. it's like putting a guy on the team because he's really, really good at sacrificing runners over. no one goes to games to see craig counsell move guys over, and no one goes to games to watch cliff politte pitch the 8th inning. let's move on. is cliff politte really good at what he does? f*** yeah. but he's not an all-star. This is one of the more ridiculous posts I've seen on this site.
  22. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 02:21 PM) You are looking at two teams whose offenses were considerably better than the White Sox is. Those teams could get away with having less in the pitching department because the teams could mash with the best of them. But look what happened to St Louis when they met a team that was just as good hitting, but had better pitching? The Red Sox mowed them down like noones business because they had pitching. Houston also had 0 bullpen outside of Lidge, they couldn't get him the ball.
  23. QUOTE(Cubs Suck23 @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 02:05 PM) A report here in SF on the flagship station is that Ned Colletti will be in Detroit the next few days to watch the Whitesox play.. Dont know if that means Schmidt is coming to the Sox Well I don't think the sox are going to trade any major league talent so if the Giants scouts are coming out it wouldn't surprise me if they're coming out for Weds.....

QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 04:06 AM) 0.0000000001% is what it should be. Why don't you tell everyone why you pretend you don't like me even though everyone knows you do love me.
