  1. The meltdown thread wasn't as bad as I thought either, I think and I hope some people are starting to realize that every time this team has had a bump in the road they just rise to the challenge and shut up all the pessimists for a while. I think we get atleast 4 of 6 on the road trip, I think maybe even a series win at Oakland.
  2. Freddy's awesome, like it's been said both teams should come away pretty happy but that trade was and still is a no doubter for the sox, Freddy is a top of the line starter and we resigned for a very, very reasonable price.
  3. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 27, 2005 -> 11:08 PM) What makes you think Sweeney will be better, what have you seen from him to make you think this? Well there is a couple of things: Obviously right now Ryan has displayed no power but I think within the next year or two he should fill out a bit more and add some power and what also is going to help is getting out of the met, Sweeney might not ever have a ton of power but he'll hit some homers in my opinion. The main reason though I like Sweeney over Anderson is just his swing to be honest. Sweeney has one of the beautiful smooth swings. His bat just comes through the zone flawlessly, obviously this is jmo but I do think Ryan will be a better player a few years down the road.
  4. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 27, 2005 -> 10:01 PM) "Top prospects may be on the move Contending clubs might deal Minor stars for big-league talent" http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article...t=.jsp&c_id=mlb How in the hell does Arnie Munoz have any trade value? Arnie has some trade value because he still has a chance to be a valuable bullpen arm in the near future and as far as untouchables go, I guarantee we have none at the minor league leve, including bmac.
  5. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 27, 2005 -> 10:32 PM) I always see around here sweeney> anderson. Why is that, because he is younger? Anderson > sweeney in my opnion and it's not really that close. This is just my opinion but I think Sweeney will be better but as of right now you're exactly right, Anderson is the better player.
  6. D'angelo Jimenez.
  7. QUOTE(AirScott @ Jun 27, 2005 -> 07:45 PM) .230 BAA, 4.41 ERA, 86 hits and 42 walks in 100 innings for Zito this year. his ERA and walks are a little too much, but is sort of tied in to the fact that he gets zero run support. I'm sure if we brought him here, he'd do fine, and here's why: in his 16 starts, he has left the game with his team scoring 1 run or less 6 times, and 2 runs a few more times (I'm tired of doing research, I just got home). I don't understand what you're getting at. Zito's era is still way to high, what does run support have to do with that?? Like Kalapse said Zito just isn't worth it with the package we'd have to give up

    QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 27, 2005 -> 07:39 PM) I believe Timo has options left. He does.
  9. QUOTE(DMoneyIsMine @ Jun 27, 2005 -> 07:24 PM) Barry Zito. Supposedly an extremley nice guy, gets along with everyone on his team and would add nothing but a sure fire ace to go along with an already solid rotation. Let's not forget the guy is a former Cy Young award winner and is only 26 years old. Seems like the kind of person who wouldn't effect the chemisrty of this ball club, and basically would add a great talent to this already solid Chicago White Sox team. If they add a Barry Zito, how great. Could you just imagine? Whoo Kenny! This team would be smokin' Zito sucks.
  10. QUOTE(chisoxfan14 @ Jun 27, 2005 -> 04:18 PM) yes! He lets me hug him! and he's always singing! He's just an awesome dude! He is so sweet! Didn't see this one coming
  11. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 27, 2005 -> 03:33 PM) He is also pitching at Comerica, There ya go, that's a big key right there. Brandon has been having trouble giving up the long ball more then anything, Tigers lineup or not I think his numbers will be much better this time around and he'll atleast give us a shot to win.
  12. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 27, 2005 -> 12:24 AM) http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?sh...ndpost&p=745760 Gracias.
  13. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 26, 2005 -> 11:50 PM) If it was said in this thread then it wasn't Jason it was Jim. They are both extremely reliable sources. This was the quote from this thread: That was all he said. I trust him as a reliable source however I just don't see the Sox getting Lilly but I wouldn't put anything past KW. Kalapse or Milkman can you guys link me to where Jim said that I'm not sure if it's in this thread or not but I can't find it.
  14. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 26, 2005 -> 11:25 PM) Eh, what's the point of even thinking/hoping/wishing/praying for a starter like Burnett, Oswalt, or Schmidt. If we get anyone, it'll be Lilly or some marginal pitcher. We have the pieces to get just about anyone we want, oh well. Lilly will do. When has Kenny ever been afraid to make a big deal?
  15. QUOTE(Southside hitmen @ Jun 26, 2005 -> 11:03 PM) The Florida Marlins are considering trading right-hander A.J. Burnett, a blockbuster move that would alter the pennant races in both leagues, The Sporting News has learned. The Marlins are engaged in preliminary discussions about Burnett with the Orioles and a second, unidentified American League club. Their goal in trading Burnett, who will be a free agent at the end of the season, would be to obtain three major-league parts — a young starting pitcher, quality reliever and left-handed hitting outfielder. Hmm an unidentified american league team, yeah that's us.
  16. QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Jun 26, 2005 -> 05:32 PM) As long as we're venting here...f***, s***, damn, freaking son of a f***ing c*** whore b****, damn, spit, growl, snap, spit some more, f***ing Boris Said is a mothing f***ing jackass f***ing ringer son of a freaking f***ing b**** and damn Tony had to beat Ricky Rudd damn it all to hell. Oh and the scrubs pissed me off to !(@*&$(*^$@)&@%$&@^!%$^& to them - I had a rough day what can I tell ya lol. Ok, now I feel a little better. It might just be me but I get the impression your day didn't go so well
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 26, 2005 -> 03:27 PM) Against rhp, we don't have enough lefties. Yeah, neither did the Marlins two years ago. These last two games were bad but this team will bounce back they have all season. Prior was unhittable today so that happens the one thing that really got to me though was both Frank and Pauly swinging on the first pitches aftera leadoff walk, that was inexcusable. Like I said though we'll bounce back, no worry from me, this team is just to good.
  18. QUOTE(Southside hitmen @ Jun 26, 2005 -> 08:48 AM) I believe D Lee sign an extension in the beginning of the season That was Aramis.
  19. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 26, 2005 -> 07:06 AM) We didn't exactly light up that weak pen yestreday, did we? I think the Sox will pull out a close one, but it will tougher than some of you think, just my opinion. I don't think anyone is expecting this to be easy.
  20. Eddie looked horrendous today throwing out the 2nd first pitch.
  21. Just got back home, not a good game obviously, we'll get 'em tomorrow though.
  22. Anyone remember that guy's name that sidekicked the catcher in the minors a few years back?? That was good stuff.
  23. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Jun 25, 2005 -> 09:59 AM) Just a BTW for the Dye haters... .269 BA 12 2B 14 HR 39 RBI Dye is now at a point I consider offensively solid. A 275 average and I'm happy with Dye He's been en fuego for a while now.
  24. Cliff Politte by FAR, have you seen the guys stats this year???
  25. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 25, 2005 -> 09:01 AM) That won't happen. Why would they keep Schmidt for the rest of their losing season and then pay him $3 million to get rid of him? They are going to decide to either trade him at the deadline or pick up his $10 million option for next season. Keeping him and buying out his contract would make absolutely no sense. Sabean is just trying to up the ante on Schmidt to other teams that are interested in him. Right, that would make 0 sense. I still say if Sabean decides Schmidt's available and Kenny wants to get him he will, maybe we can trade Minny Minoso for him.
