  1. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 11:18 AM) I've been able to watch the last two games and I can think of quite a few time Joe's went to right or center in those games. That's why he is starting to hit a big again, working the ball to center and to right field. Even yesterday after his first hit he absolutely scorched a ball into centerfield but unfortunately it was right at Drew.
  2. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 11:18 AM) Ah that's right. July 1st was the night the trades were made. My bad. That game sticks in my mind because I remember having an offday after that game and then Koch blowing the game on a Crawford walkoff on the 4th
  3. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 11:12 AM) It has to get mentioned. The July 1, 2003 game against Minny. It was Robbie and Carl's first game in a Sox uni; I wanted us to take that so bad. Kong hits the PH game-tying HR. Frank goes to LF w/ the walkoff the very next inning. Beat me to it. That game was just special cause it finished off the sweep of the Twins. Of course Koch blew the mojo on the 4th of July. Greasy, not to be picky but that game was July 2nd.
  4. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 11:07 AM) I started talking to my wife about the most memorable games I have ever seen, and was trying to rank that with some others. Here is my list #1- Robin Ventura's walkoff Grand Slam against Goose Gossage of the Rangers #2 Dave Stieb pitching a no hitter into the 9th against the Sox at old Comiskey. The Blue Jays were leading 6-0 and everyone had started to cheer for him to get the no-no, except for me, and then the bottom of the 9th came around. Rudy Law, Bryan Little, and Harold Baines, went backtobacktoback to make it a 6-3 game, followed by Fisk and Kittle getting backtoback doubles to make it 6-4. The Jays then went to the pen, and finished off the win. I'll just never forget everyone going crazy. #3-Harold Baines hits a walk off 3 run HR against Dan Quisenberry of the Royals, while Quiz is the best reliver in the game. #4-Sox get down 6-0 to the Cubs early, and comeback to win 13-8 in a huge turnaround. #5 Carlos Lee's extra inning Grand Slam to win a game against the Cubs. The Frank walkoff a couple of years ago after Pauly hit a bomb to tie it in the bottom of the 9th against Guardado. That 8-0 comeback against the cubs with Pauly going yard twice. The 3-0 comeback off Wickman the 2nd game of this season was pretty special too just because the offense was so down the first 2 games. Those are just 3 that came to me right away, there's been plenty more then that though.
  5. I love it. Does anyone else just open up the newspaper just to look at the standings even though you know what their record and the standings are, for me it's just fun to look at. Ok, I'm weird.
  6. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 10:31 AM) I wonder how much concern the 2000 Cleveland Indians had with the White Sox. I've been a baseball fan too long to just dismiss somebody because they are not expected to contend. The 1969 Cubs had an 8 game lead in August, and were playing great. Were they concerned with the Mets? Crunch all the numbers you want about win totals if we do this or that. Calculate how easy it should be. Then go look at the last two weeks of the 1964 NL season, or the Yankees run at the end of 1978. Well they were expected to contend though, once again they're not out of the race because we still play them 11 times and they're 8.5 out and playing great ball right now it's just my personal opinion that they aren't that good of a team and they really have no chance but like I said that's just a personal opinion.
  7. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 10:26 AM) Sure. Just the simple things I've done for myself throughout the season. Just a little combination of 2 layers. Thank you, I love that wallpaper. Sorry I can't answer your question.
  8. Greasy, wharris told me you made a really cool wallpaper with the celebrating pic from saturday's game, can you post it?
  9. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 10:19 AM) Auerbach had 0 Stars, Bill Russell sucked. See punch you did say that.
  10. That would be one of the worst trades in sox history.
  11. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 09:30 AM) I don't know about anyone else here, but when I saw Roy Oswalt's name on that list, I had to change my pants. Ha, well that ain't happening.
  12. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 12:55 AM) The fact that this is even being discussed is utterly insane. I don't feel like adding anything because it will just enfuriate me more than I already am. uh huh. They've both won 9 championships, Auerbach won his when there was what 8 teams in the league?? While Phil has done his with more parody and many more teams. This is a good topic for you to say this is utterly insane makes you well....utterly insane.
  13. This is a dangerous series imo. Coming off of all the weekend festivites with the Dodgers and the Cubs coming up it's one of those middle series that could be a bit overlooked by the sox. That being said the Sox are just such a good team I expect atleast 2 0f 3 but it is a dangerous series imo.
  14. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 09:12 AM) I tend to agree and I hope the board remembers this if and when the Sox go into a small slump or lose a couple of series LOL. It will be interesting to see if McCarthy can handle things. If he gets torched, it may force KW's hand. One thing for sure, he will not sit on his hands if there's a need. Like I said before I've been as guilty as anyone on here about talking trade, mostly because for me it's just good conversation and fun to talk about. Honestly though this team is just so special there really is no reason to mess with it unless there is a truely special player available but that's jmo.
  15. They're going to get over 2 mill easy this year.
  16. This is very smart imo and what I expected as well. Crede is starting to hit a bit better and as long as he can hit decently he's very valuable because his glove is absolutely outstanding. The only other thing this team can maybe use is another bullpen arm and there are some good options down on the farm with Baj and Jenks. If Bobby dominates in Charlotte I wouldn't be surprised at all to see him with the Sox in July or August. I completely agree with kenny's thinking here, if there isn't a real special player out there don't mess with this team.
  17. It's gotta be frusterating as all hell for the Indians right now, they keep winning but so do the Sox. I personally am not worried about them at all, imo their hot streak will end soon, I just don't think they are that good of a team. YAS, I do consider the Twins a threat, I know Cleveland is only a game behind the Twins but I just think the Twins are so much better then the Indians but obviously that's jmo.
  18. Awesome, I'm just very excited about Jenks, this guy really does have stud closer written all over him. I'm really interested to see what he can do in Charlotte, if he dominates there we may just have something special.
  19. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 11:02 PM) We won because of a bad call by the ump (the Podsednik safe call). Your point still has some validity to it though. No, not necessarily, if that call isn't blown the game is still tied, no??
  20. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 09:41 PM) Can't comment on that, but to say the least Brandon didn't enjoy Charlotte and that ballpark. CMON, CMON. Just playing, thanks for the info
  21. If maggs is healthy enough to play in this thing, Ozzie could be managing Maggs. That would be interesting to say the least.
  22. Jas, you said somethings just weren't right with Brandon when he got back down to Charlotte, could you elaborate??
  23. Reading through these game threads can be sickening at times. Jabroni, when the hell are you going to learn this team doesn't play corpseball they're the best team in the league for a reason. The team hits when it counts, period. Anyways, I love this team.
  24. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 01:23 PM) "Charges Against Teen Upgraded After Dog He Allegedly Raped Dies" http://www.fox21.com/Global/story.asp?S=3456745 That kid deserves a serious f***in ass kicking. :fyou :fyou
  25. QUOTE(jerseysox @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 01:39 PM) the twins are not that good. Yes they are.
