QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 12:19 AM) Not many people change the start menu stuff from the defaults. That's kinda freaky that we have the same wallpaper and color. Edit: Maybe a lot of people on here change the color because they are computer savy. None of my friends know how to change it. I have no clue how to do that, care to help a fellow sox fan out? EDIT: Nevermind, I figured it out myself.

What's the record for stolen bases in a game?
Rowand44 replied to Tadahito Iguchi's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 10:18 PM) Yah and after he gets that 3-4 hit game he needs to actually get the bags stolen! He had a chance earlier in the year when he had 4 stolen bases already in the game, problem was the game was a blowout. That's a tough thing to do for scotty because chances are if he's on base 3 times in a game already with 3-4 stolen bases, the sox are going to have scored a ton of runs that game possibly resulting in another blow out. -
QUOTE(sircaffey @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 03:03 PM) That's if he lasts that long. I have some serious doubts that if we make it to the playoffs, El Duque will even be will us... He's not going anywhere. Kenny signed the Duke so obviously that the sox would have 5 major league starters but also because he is a big game pitcher, if we need a win in September or October to either get up past the Twins or get us through the playoffs El Duque is going to be there pitching his ass off and pitching well, I'll guarantee you that. Something else I wanted to add is even though Orlando has been struggling lately, he's had an absolute HUGE influence in making Contreras one hell of a pitcher.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 02:03 AM) Contrary to some peoples' beliefs, you don't have to be a big strike out pitcher to win. There's no doubt and we all know that around here, I just think dbaho is pointing out that is why Mark doesn't necessarily get the pub that the other aces around the league get(correct me if I'm wrong db).

That game was beautiful, that is all.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 01:31 AM) Sounds like Gage brought all of the LA traffic with him. Ya, thanks a lot Jas :headshake It was honestly nuts out there today though, it was the worse traffic I've ever had getting to a game.

First, let me say great thread idea, it's fun to look at what everyone else thinks. For me there is only 3 pitchers considering everything that can be thrown in with Mark and that's Peavy, Johan, and Halladay. Those are the only 3 guys that are even worth thinking about imo and even with those three I don't think I'd trade Mark straight up for any of them. As a fan right now it'd absolutely kill me to see Mark traded, Mark's is as good as there is in baseball right now and I think he's answered that question whether or not he's an ace and the answer is a definitive yes.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 11:59 PM) God damn work and traffic on the Ike f***ed everything up. I got to the park at 6:50. I missed the tailgate. I'm not very happy cause I missed it too. I left the same time I normally do to get to games and I usually get there at around 5:15, today 6:30, traffic was absolutely horrific today. Well, I hope you guys had a great time, I'm sad I missed it.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 12:00 PM) Ok, this really doesnt have alot to do with the game thread, but my boredom at work is killing me. I was just checking the power rankings on SI.com, and I cannot help but notice that Dan George bears a uncanny resemblance to Paul McCartney. My random thought of the day. On to the game, what kind of an out pitch does Houlton have? I havent heard much about him, other than his last start was pretty good(against the twins?). hopefully the AL Central can continue the domination of the dodgers via the White Sox. I dont expect anything less than a series win. Game thread is below, bud

Rogers picks are mostly solid but a couple had me scratching my head. In his rotation: Garland Buehrle Prior El Duque He picked Burnitz over Dye that's basically a toss up so no problem there. Patterson over Rowand is the real horrendous one, that's not even close. Arow>>>>Patterson

QUOTE(HSC's Biggest Fan @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 11:32 AM) Valid point but on paper they were one of the best teams in baseball Buerhle was their number three pitcher. To go with the thought of this string the 2003 team was better than this team. Plus Garland had an era under 4 in the 2nd half of that year, Damaso and Flash were unhittable with Sully and Kelly in the bullpen as well. On paper that 03 team was as good as there was. I said they would have been a very tough out because of the starters they would have been able to throw out there in the playoffs. Anyways on paper yes that 03 team was better but this is a better team no doubt in my mind.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 11:45 AM) Here's an article from a few days ago which mentions Getz and the 10th round pick from the Miami area who'll be assigned to Great Falls: http://www.greatfallstribune.com/apps/pbcs...322/1006/NEWS17

QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 11:19 AM) Did Brooks sign, I hadn't seen that anywhere. Not yet.

QUOTE(jerseysox @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 11:11 AM) but it's 43-22 combined with the fact the yankees, red sox and twins aren't what they once were. if the white sox were 43-22 at this point last year, i wouldn't be nearly as optimistic as i am now. btw, when does this ======> come in handy? This is the best team the twins have had since their run began imo.

QUOTE(whitesox91403 @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 11:07 AM) I really appreciate everyone's help: Just to clarify. I55 North to Dan Ryan South (Toward Indiana) Exit 35th St Past 35th St towards 37th and will be waved in just before 37th Also: Is the Dan Ryan 355 or 294 or somethign else? I'm actually better with the numbers and is this a lot you have to pay in? I'll let someone else answer the highway question just incase I f*** up again :banghead But yes it's a paylot, 17 bucks just like the rest of the lots.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 10:58 AM) He's coming from I55... he'll be going south on the Dan Ryan. No turns necessary. Steff, I have no clue where I55 is, I just misread your post. Don't mind me, I'm absolutely retarded when it comes to directions. I'm trying to help and I'm just making things more complicated.
-
QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 10:53 AM) Note, when you exit at 35th St. you will have to make a quick left hand turn onto Wentworth - going south. Then as Steff says, you'll see them waving you into the church lot on your right hand side, just before 37th St. Depends which way you're coming from. If you're coming from the north on the ryan and get off on the 35th street exit then you just go straight. EDIT: Nevermind, he's going north not south, sorry about that.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 10:49 AM) Damn he was rolling and then took that line drive off of the chest and was never the same again. Its sad really. He was actually a decent 5th starter before that shot, it's to bad.
-
QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 10:41 AM) Interesting but not a total shock. They are really shaking things up in Charlotte, I would not be surprised to see them sign a few veteran pitchers off the scrap heap. I'm surprised a bit he actually wasn't doing to poor but like you said it looks like they just want to shake things up.
-
The division is still very top heavy imo. I think the Sox and Twins are the two best teams in the al but after that I don't think to highly of any of the other 3 teams and that's including the Indians.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 10:37 AM) Bakker to Kanny. I'll have the FS PR up shortly. Awesome, it was just a matter of time. Now we get to see him dominated Winston Salem. I wonder when Liotta gets the call up as well??

QUOTE(rafacosta @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 10:09 AM) Changing subject? Well kind of, I was just mentioning that cause supposidely(sp?) it happened before this interview.
-
On Silvy and Carmen Bruce Levine is on and said that before the interview Padilla came up to Buehrle and said "I'm rooting for you guys to lose this weekend cause I'm a Dodgers fan." If that's true that's one of the most unprofessional things I've ever heard.

QUOTE(Randar68 @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 10:02 AM) He's always projected to more power than he's shown, but he's a pretty good hitter and patient... If he ever figures out how to hit the ball with good carry in game-situation, you could see that power show up down the road. He hits the ball hard regularly... The guy is a monster you'd think he has some hidden power. I'm sure his linedrives into the gap in the met will turn into some homeruns in Charlotte, wouldn't you think?
