Cleveland is just on a hot streak. When their bats quiet down again, so will they.

The indians in there winning streak have beat a horrible Giants team. Then swept the d-backs and rockies at home. Tell me when there beating the good teams.

I refuse to call a team that must win 9 in a row to pull within 8.5 games of first a threat, sorry.

Those same d-backs took 2 outta 3 from us

True, but we had Widger catching for Contreras and a sore-shouldered El Duque pitching 2 of the games.

We played the worst we have all year in that series.

How can El Duque pitch in 2 of the games? He only pitched in the 2nd loss of the series.

I think he counted widger catching contreas as 1 game, and El duque being sore as another so that is 2.

I wouldn't call the Indians a threat at this point. They're on a pretty good hot streak right now. Will see what's up in a month.

Ahhh yes my bad, I was just confused by the wording of the sentence. :bang

This is off topic. Does anybody know of any good Twins message boards?

No we didn't.

A stretch against Texas and Anaheim was when we played our worst. We were getting b****slapped pretty good during that stretch of games.

And as has been said, a team that is 8.5 games out is not a threat. We get swept in a 4 game series by them, and then they might be a threat.

Yep, those 2 games at Texas and the game we got shutout by Ervin Santana of the Angels were the worst. Thank God that third game at Texas got rained out and post-poned.

the first 2 vs 'zona were not pretty

Take it for what its worth, but Cleveland sits atop the MLBs in Team ERA at 3.50

But of course, the Injuns bats are alot more inconsistant than our Sox are...thats saying alot huh.

If you consider Minnesota a threat, you have to consider Cleveland one as well. They could be one of those young teams that is beginning to believe in themselves and getting on one of those magical rolls, like the 2000 Sox.

At this point, I'd consider them a potential threat worthy of keeping an eye on.

Agreed. I'm surprised at all the "bad mouthing" of them. "They're inconsistent." "They've played weak teams." "They'll cool off." Sounds very familiar to a Marriotti column about the Sox from earlier this season.

Yes, they're a threat.

Yes, they're for real.

Yes, we have to play well against them.

They're certainly a team to keep an eye on, especially if they get all parts of their game going. Their starting pitching and bullpen has been really good so far, but some guys like Cliff Lee are known to have 2nd half fadeouts. Scott Elarton isn't really much of a 5th starter either.

Their offense has been heating up a little in the last few days although it's nowhere near last year's pace. Grady Sizemore's made a big difference in the leadoff spot, but they need power production from the middle of the lineup, and guys like Aaron Boone to continue what they've been doing in the last month. I still think they'll finish 3rd though, with about a 85-77 record.

People were getting all excited about the Cubs a week ago as they were chasing a team with a comparable record to the White Sox. They are quiet now. I suspect all the Cleveland buzz will simmer down by the end of the week. 9 wins in a row, but still 8 1/2 out doesn't seem too promising to me.

Are you worried about the Twins or do we have this division all wrapped up?

All teams seem scary when they are on fire. Winning 12 of 13 is impressive. But, we all know that they will cool off.

Right now, at 8 1/2 back, we do not need to worry. However, that can change easily. If they get within 5-6 games, then we need to be concerned.

Regardless, we must play better than.500 against them.

up until now, we've played well against our division. As long as that continues, I'm not terribly concerned about a team 8.5 games behind us.

The Twins still have a chance. Cleveland has been on an unbelievable roll, and are going to cool off, probably this week and next when they play Boston 6 times. Minnesota hasn't played well the last week. They'll heat up again.
