He's been saying that for weeks now. I wouldn't consider that "smoke" necessarily. Obviously, I trust our guys here(rabbit, bucket, dave) as they've proven to be reliable before but it just seems like there's so much misinformation going around. I wouldn't be surprised if this thing drags into February and I wouldn't be surprised if he's signed before I finish typing this. And I wouldn't be surprised if he signs with us and I wouldn't be surprised if he signs with the Yankees or Phillies. Just a whole lot of who the hell knows(still) at this point.

We've been a sad organization for a while now. That's why signing either Manny or Bryce is such a big thing for this franchise. You get the on field benefits and it goes a long way in changing the perception of the team so maybe in the future we don't have to jump through all these hoops to get a premier fa to sign here.

Honestly, I don't think that's their plan. We all agree they have a long way to go to get competitive this year but I legit think that's what they're trying to do. Everything they've done this offseason seems to indicate that. If their plan fails then they can fall back on the trade them for prospects idea but I legit don't think that's what they're trying to do right now.
