QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 2, 2010 -> 06:49 AM) Floyd has made 22 starts. 1st 11 starts: 6.64 ERA, 61 innings, 78 hits, 45 ER, 23 BB, 49 K, 7 HR 2nd 11 starts: 1.06 ERA, 76.1 innings, 54 hits, 9 ER, 17 BB, 63 K, 0 HR That's right. Floyd has not given up a homer in 11 starts. 77 innings. That's impressive. He did something similar last season as well, apparently he's not a fan of April and May either.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 2, 2010 -> 03:56 PM) Yeesh, that read like a story from the Onion. That's exactly what I thought it was.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 07:16 PM) Winstons Bagels, Jimmy Johns, Papa Johns. In that order after hours Don Taco, Jimmy Johns, Wise Guys for me. Fortunately I've been back in the burbs for a few months now so I haven't been killing my wallet nearly as much with drunk food as I do in the Dale.

QUOTE (T R U @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 02:53 AM) Does anyone else order way too much food when they have been drinking? I went through whataburger and order like $12 worth of s*** and I ate half of it and realized there was no way I could eat the rest of this stuff.. Oh ya.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 02:45 PM) Jesus Christ, this is the most sadistic and cynical fanbase in all of sports. Maybe, but the fact is that this dh spot is one of the bigger debacles I can ever remember when it comes to a competing team in baseball. Everyone in the f***in world except our brilliant management knew this was going to be a complete disaster. Then we heard that if that stupid idea failed then Kenny would for sure take care of it by the deadline, low and behold it's passed 3 o'clock on July 31st and we're stuck with the same bulls***. Whether anybody likes it or not, people have a right to be pissed about this and it goes back to spring training.
-
QUOTE (PlunketChris @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 02:37 PM) 13-9 for Detroit last year when they went to game 163, 14-11 for Tampa bay in 2008 in the year they went to the world series. He knows how to pitch in a pennant race. Always nice when someone uses win loss record for a pitcher to try and make a point. If he knows how to pitch well in a pennant race then why was he so god damn awful in the 2nd half of last season?
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 02:37 PM) Ok, and? its over. Thome is a twin. It's really hard for some of us to get over it when it was literally the easiest decision any organization could make and we still somehow made the wrong one.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 02:32 PM) Wrong, it is that weak. Flowers, Viciedo and Hudson (before the trade) were the only three names you ever heard about from our side. Because there's flat nothing else after that. It's not perception. It's cold reality. Indeed. Not to mention the injuries to Peavy and Mitchell in spring training really killed our chances to land an impact player as well.
-
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 02:32 PM) No it didn't. Our paper thin system had guys that the Nats wanted, but we refused to part with them cause the asking price was too high. I think his point was, that if we had a bit of a deeper system then parting with some of these guys wouldn't be as big of an issue.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 02:30 PM) Let's face it, the best bet for Sox to have a productive DH is for Viciedo to become the everyday starter. However, I give that a 1% chance of happening. Exactly.

QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 02:24 PM) Do you understand how waivers works? Most likely it will be for a PTBNL with prospects going later on. I do, apparently you do not.
-
QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 02:19 PM) Waiver Wire Trades. August 30th. Understand now? If Scott or Laroche could have been had for cheap it would have already happened so you're making no sense. And the only chance we have to get Laroche now is if the DBacks literally want nothing in return which just isn't the case.
-
QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 12:47 PM) Just like we couldn't add Peavy and Rios last season because of "payroll flexibility." LOL, tell me another funny one...... My god, we had plenty of money to work with last season, adding Peavy and Rios is what made us not have the flexibility to add a higher priced dh.
-
QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 12:43 PM) Is that you Jerry? Are you physically paying $8 million dollars? lol, you do realize that adding that 8 million dollars does limit this teams flexibility to make other moves?
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 12:41 PM) Jackson isn't a great move. If he stays, it does give us a MUCH better chance at reaching the post-season, and it adds one more pitcher in depth that could actually start a playoff game...as great as Freddy has been, I'm assuming nobody wants him starting Game 4 in NY or Tampa Bay. And at this point nobody wants Edwin Jackson starting that game either.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 12:35 PM) Let's bring up another name. Daniel Cortes, or we can add Tyler Lumsden in for good measure. I remember when he was supposed to be around a Top 45-55 prospect in all of MILB. Hudson never came close to that level with most talent evaluators, let's be honest. You're trying to argue that KW does a good job of pitching evaluation by bringing up the trade for Mike Macdougal?
-
QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 12:33 PM) I like this Jackson trade. He's got great stuff and he's 26. He's not as bad as his ERA indicates. 4.27 FIP, .318 BABIP. His fly ball rate is only 30%. People overrated Hudson on this board, he was a no. 3 starter-at best. People can say that Hudson is overrated all they want but the point is that this is an extreme over pay no matter how the f*** you look at it and there's absolutely no denying that. This trade blows.
-
QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 11:44 PM) Dont worry, you just prevented another perfect game from being recorded in just a ridiculous year. Haha. Well, the bad news than is that he still proceeded to throw the no hitter.
-
In my softball league tonight, I ended up ruining my pitchers perfect game when I made a throwing error at 3rd base. I really f***in suck at life.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 03:17 PM) Or that they're not foolish enough to think they can win this year or next year without a 5th starter. Winner. The only way Huddy is getting traded is if we have another deal to bring a sp over here.

Taking a fan to their first game at the Cell . . .
Rowand44 replied to Texsox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The Upper Deck is just fine to watch a game, not sure why some people have a problem with it. The only downside to it is that unless you have season tickets you don't have access to the lower concourse and what not. -
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 23, 2010 -> 11:10 AM) I may be the only one, but I am not a fan of going 12 deep on a roster. I think it screws the minutes up for the better players. Here is what I predict for the minute distribution this year: PG: Rose (35 minutes), Watson (13 minutes) SG: Brewer (30 minutes); Korver (10 minutes); FA or Johnson (8 minutes) SF: Deng (33 minutes); Korver (10 minutes); Johnson (5 minutes) PF: Boozer (35 minutes); Gibson (13 minutes) C: Noah (35 minutes); Gibson (10 minutes); Thomas/Asik (3??) I just don't see how the numbers align with all this depth. I would much rather have eight strong player than 12 above-average players. Taj deserves 20+ minutes per game easily, but if he does, Asik/Thomas get nothing. You can't take away from Noah. Gonna be some minute problems. No, I completely agree. What I'm saying is that there's a possibility that Johnson and Asik can earn there way into the rotation taking some minutes away from Thomas and well not sure about Johnson but you get my point. And if they don't, well no big deal.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 23, 2010 -> 12:05 PM) I just don't see how the Sox would be able to justify Kotsay's presence on the roster. Grindy.
-
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 23, 2010 -> 11:53 AM) I wouldn't trade Floyd or Danks straight up for Fielder. Ditto. Fielder just isn't going to happen imo. At this point the only 2 real chips we have are Dayan and Flowers. Beckham isn't going anywhere and at least to me(which means nothing but I think Kenny feels the same way) Huddy became untouchable the moment Peavy went down with his injury. Laroche and Luke Scott definitely make the most sense right now.

Assuming we sign another wing, the beautiful thing is the depth this squad is going to have. Our 11th and 12th players are going to be guys with some potential who can possibly earn themselves more minutes and if they're not ready to get consistent playing time this year, well it's not too big of a deal because we wont need them much anyways. I really am loving this team. Just get me one more wing.
