  1. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 03:30 PM) I don't give a damn about advanced statistics in this case. If there's 10 seconds left in the game and I need a basket to win, I'm givin' the rock to Kobe 10 times outta 10 over Lebron. Anybody who says otherwise needs to quit watching basketball and take up Lacrosse as a hobby or something. Seconded.
  2. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 02:51 PM) via I heard that on ESPN. f***in hilarious.
  3. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 02:45 PM) Where did you pick this up? Just about every game on national tv? I mean, you don't have to be a genius to know that any opportunity a network can get to put Miami on national television, they're going to jump at.
  4. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 02:48 PM) Retherford is a man without a position, he's a sub-par defender everywhere on the field, and probably a utility man if he makes the majors. There are also some makeup questions about him, and his attitude. Torres is just not nearly the prospect McAllister is, without even getting into the age discussion. Torres is a nice guy to have in the system, but nothing terribly special. Best case he's a back of the rotation starter for a weak team, more likely he's a long or middle reliever. I just saw K's post, and yeah, Flowers is not only much older and slower to develop, but also I believe Montero is considered a defensive wizard, and I don't think Flowers is anything like that. He's not, he's just like Tyler when it comes to that.
  5. QUOTE (pktmotion @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 02:34 PM) Very similar trade packages; only thing is NYY prospects are ridiculously overvalued. Well there you go, there's my rebuttal. Stats aren't even close to the end all when it comes to prospects. No matter how you look at it, Montero is considered one of the better prospects in all of baseball and while Flowers is considered a solid spect, he's no where close to the level that Montero is at. It's that simple really, Montero is an elite spect and Tyler isn't. Not to mention, CJ and Torres really aren't prospects at all.

    QUOTE (Gregory Pratt @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 02:19 PM) That is not, as you know, what I wrote. This team probably won't make the playoffs. They were dog s*** for 2 months then got hot. The Tigers and Twins are both contentedly mediocre. Our offense is and will remain atrocious. There are good things about the team, sure, but this is not a legitimate contender. And I think you and every other person who's going to be offended by my post in defense of Oswalt knows that. I'm not offended by your post about Oswalt, as I said before, I really don't give a s*** because there was no chance that he was even going to be a target. I should've known that since Gavin is still in our rotation that we couldn't possibly be a contender.
  7. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 01:04 PM) White Sox have to win their division first, this helps that a lot because he's not going to Minny and he won't be there when the Sox play Seattle this year in Seattle. Also, the Yankees pitchers are going to have a s*** ton of innings pitched when October rolls around and their pen outside mariano isn't very good, so the starters are going to have to pitch 7-8 a lot... are they the favorites? sure, but as I said earlier, it's July 9th, I'm glad he's not going to Minn and worry about him in October if they get there I'm not going to say I would rather have been traded to the Twins because that would just be stupid, in the perfect world he obviously would have been traded to the NL. Thing is, if we're going to win this year, we're going to have to go through the Yankees at some point, I'm about 90 percent sure of that now. Before this deal, if we added another bat I actually think we would have had a decent shot to knock them off if we got to the playoffs(they'd still be favored but I'd give us at least a solid shot), now we'd really be in some trouble if that matchup were to happen. And I'm obviously getting way ahead of myself but that's the way I'm looking at it right now.

    QUOTE (Gregory Pratt @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 02:06 PM) Dude wants to win, but going to the White Sox is not a sufficiently good place to do that. If he wants to pitch for a lousy offensive team, he can just stay in Houston. Why would he uproot mid-season to play in a bandbox with a bunch of guys who can't hit? So he wants individual wins, but he doesn't care if his team wins? Not that I give a s***, cause it's not like he was going to come here anways but you just made him sound like one selfish baseball player.

    Is Oswalt just going to come out every season and say he wont accept a trade to the Sox?
  10. QUOTE (pktmotion @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 01:23 PM) We could have gotten Lee for Flowers-Retherford-Torres. No.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 01:52 PM) How is this not GREAT news? It went from Twins leading for him to him going to the Yankees. Please don't tell me you thought the Sox would contend for his services? If you believed the Sox could compete for the pennant, this certainly hurts those chances.
  12. QUOTE (Cali @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 11:59 AM) I think it's kinda lame that the Sox can't get a replacement player on the roster with Hudson coming up... Now we dont get represented in the game We've probably been the least represented organization in this game in the last 6 or 7 years due to trades and callups and what not.
  13. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 01:42 AM) Like I've been saying, chances are you're not going to find a stud SG who is good on both ends of the court, so you have to make do. Thats why I liked the idea of Morrow and Brewer splitting time. Pretty much. You're not going to find the perfect player at this point, you have to figure out the best part for this situation.
  14. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 01:39 AM) I'd absolutely adore the addition of Michael Redd, but monetarily, it's hard to see that working out unless he's your only big addition and you fill out the roster with minimum guys. Then you'd hope to use his expiring deal next yr for a free agent, or re-sign him for a much lower price. I've been wanting the Bulls to trade for Redd for quite some time. Rose/Redd/Deng/Boozer/Noah is DAMN good if Boozer and Redd stay healthy. Ya, I wasn't even taking into account money, which obviously is a huge a factor.
  15. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 12:33 AM) Also, of SG's possibly available for trade, Jason Richardson or Michael Redd make the most sense. Redd also has 1 yr left at 18.3 million or so. As long as Redd is healthy, either of those two would be absolutely perfect fits.
  16. God do I hope the Lakers can somehow beat these assholes next season.
  17. As a fan, LeBron has become by far my most hated athlete in all of sports. He was already up there to begin with but now no one is even close. He's a giant tool and I wish him nothing but the worst. The Lakers have also instantly become my 2nd favorite team as well, as they're the only team in my mind who has a shot to knock off Miami next season. Basketball has always been my favorite sport so I hate to say this, but this NBA season is going to be the most pointless season in any sport, almost ever. It's going to be the Lakers and the Heat in the finals and I don't need 82 games and 3 other playoff series to tell me that. I'm also going to say one more time, that this Heat team has absolutely 0 shot at winning 70 games. None.
  18. God it's painful to hear D.Rose talk. Nice hat though.
  19. Not so much Badger. Just tweeted that Chicago got no love either. He still doesn't know anything, nobody does.
  20. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 02:44 PM) I wonder who our rep will be. I'd feel a lot better knowing that we aren't just sending some staffer and that the Heat are sending Riley. Dennis Rodman. I have no idea.
  21. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 03:02 PM) Isn't that series over? Yes it is.
  22. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 03:01 PM) First sweep of the angels since the 80's did I hear that right? Think she said first sweep at home since 83?
  23. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 03:01 PM) So that's 21/26? I think it's 22 of 27, no?
