  1. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jun 30, 2006 -> 02:52 PM) Cuz they are stupid morons who know nothing regarding baseball or because they're bloodthirsty nitwits? First one, I can live with the 2nd.
  2. I love when fans get rowdy after a player gets hit by a curve.
  3. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jun 30, 2006 -> 02:48 PM) He must have wings then cuz he is flying through these hitters. /rimshot //yeah, I know its a bad pun. wanna fight about it? Yes I do.
  4. lol, I like this part: Halos Heaven notes that if Ozzie Guillen elects Orlando Cabrera (.305/.364/.436) to the All-Star game, the relationship between the two teams could improve enough to facilitate a trade.
  5. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Jun 30, 2006 -> 02:23 PM) Pretty pathetic he has to throw those to our pitcher. I guess his fastball aint good enough Jon can actually hit a fastball, he can't getting any where near that curve.
  6. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 30, 2006 -> 09:40 AM) Since they had to first make sure they had a playoff spot, they were unable to have their true ace start the playoff series. In fact, he never had a chance to pitch. Widger wouldn't even play in the playoffs. Their true ace sucked last season. They could have pitched him in game 3 if they wished but they wanted to pitch Wakefield. The Red Sox had 0 good starters last year(Wakefield was there best) with one of the worst bullpens around, like I said it's not a fair comparison.
  7. Because of the sucktitude of the al and nl wests the trade deadline is going to be very tame again. That doesn't bother me at all though considering I believe we have the best roster in all the majors and if every team stays as is, I like our chances a lot.
  8. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 30, 2006 -> 09:33 AM) There are serious problems for this team right now. Three starters have really bad ERA's. They make like 25 million dollars. That is way past unacceptable. And Widger cannot call a baseball game anymore. Those are real problems that will bite us in the ass come playoff time. Whoever said we're like the 2005 Red Sox hit it right on the head. We can't have guys with ERA's of 4.65, 5.00, and 5.76 starting playoff games. Teams with great offenses and bad pitching usually don't win it all. While I agree with the point that our pitching needs to be better, this team is no where near what last years Red Sox were even with the struggles we have going on right now. Boston's game one starter last year had an era over 4.5 with like a 6 era in the 2nd half. We still have two very good starters at the moment and a very good bullpen where the Red Sox had an absolutely horrible pen last year and 0 starting pitching. I understand the point you're trying to get across but the comparison between the 05 sawx and the 06 sox is just way off. As much as our pitching is struggling we're still 5th in the al in era.
  9. Here's a picture of Josh Bone and Tyrone Green, the two recruits SIU has coming in this year. Green is a JUCO transfer and on the right, he's a f'n monster.
  10. This thread will be even more hilarious when the Tigers lose one to Pitt this weekend.
  11. QUOTE(Felix @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 08:21 PM) The stadium gun had Count in the 90's, touching 95 at times (I wasn't really watching the radar gun the whole game though). I don't think Count is nearly as good as people here paint him to be (as I said all offseason, although I expected him to be worse than he has thus far), and he's struggled since coming off the DL. I hope he improves however, he can't be posting a 5.37 ERA and relying on the offense to get his back. If you are looking at the whole season, and you expect those numbers, you'll be disappointed. Right now, he'll probably end the season with a 3.80 ERA, which is still good, but will disappoint people here. I'll bet he ends up with an era under 3.4.
  12. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 07:04 PM) Wow. I just looked at tomorrow's pitching matchup and realized we have a starter with a 5.76 ERA. Just awful. Is it possible our rotation is highly overrated? As of right now..yes. I doubt it lasts but the weakest part of our team is the starting rotation. That does worry me a little bit. No matter how improved the offense is, if we don't get 2 of Freddy, Jon, Vaz to turn it around we're going to have some issues winning in the playoffs if we get there.
  13. Jose is a fantastic pitcher. Give him a few more starts and he'll be dominate again. He just hasn't been sharp since coming off the dl but he'll get there again.
  14. yay, I missed the real soxtalk.
  15. QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 11:49 AM) So I woke up and turn on the tv with it being 2-0 and runners on first and second....and nobody scores. Go back to bed.
  16. Cmon Widge, at least get this 3rd run in.
