  1. In my mind, he is gaining favor at this point. Obviously we don't know who the true candidates are and may never know completely, but I am liking Crean more and more. Not totally against Alford, but not pro-Alford either.
  2. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 11:30 PM) You seem to be one of the few that thinks that. Kenny was pushed and prodded until he couldn't just shut up about it anymore. If he had kept quiet, he'd just be a pussy that wouldn't stand up for his own team. From the way it sounds, the players are glad that Frank is gone and this whole thing could be a benefit to the chemistry. KW sees himself as a part of the team, and he won't let a spoiled fatass like Thomas speak so poorly of the organization as a whole. I disagree completely. KW wasn't pushed and prodded. He doesn't have to read the papers. He can keep his focus in the media on this year's team, not the past. Many athletes keep their focus on the field by not reading the papers and listening to sports talk radio. Ignoring the "noise" allows them to keep their focus on what they need to do on the field. This same premise should apply to KW in this instance. Ignore what Frank says and focus on this year.
  3. aboz, do you really think Crean would take the IU job if pursued?
  4. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 02:46 AM) Purdue should already be an easy team. You shouldn't need momentum to beat them if you're a deserving tournament team. And yes, I've factored in that Purdue is your biggest rival. And the fact that IU is 0-6 on the road in the Big Ten at this point?
  5. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 10:30 PM) Well, the Little Caesars just down the road from my house is $5 large, one topping, all the time. So it shouldn't be too hard to figure out what pizza joint gets the majority of my business. After them it would be Papa Murphy's. Their sauce is what I dream about. Little Caesar's blows. I'd rather stick a DiGiorno in the oven than eat that crap.
  6. How many of them thanked greasywheels?? It's days like today that may have a major effect on whether guys like DJ White and Vaden stay. I'm watching the Nova-UConn game and a few minutes ago saw Nova run a real nice backdoor alleyoop for a dunk to one of their guards. Made me wonder, why IU doesn't design those kind of plays for guys like Wilmont and/or Ratliff? Both of those guys are athletic enough and you would think with most teams worried about guarding Killingsworth inside and defending the three there would be opportunities for such plays.
  7. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 07:15 PM) So do any of these guys actually have a chance at the pros or is this just something set up to send a message or what? Just a setup baseball event.
  8. greasy, what was Senior Day like after the game? Did they do the standard player speeches? If so, what were they like? How was Killingsworths? s***, are Killingsworth, Monroe, Strickland and Kline the only seniors?
  9. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 04:40 PM) Yeah but he lives in Indiana...so what does he know?!? If he can settle for Lou Malnati's, he orders online just like Pizza Hut. He just has to plan a day ahead. Tastes of Chicago
  10. Let me backtrack a little on this. Apparently, they have been marketing this game in the inner city and black community rather than doing a broad marketing campaign. Also, ESPN has distributed a lot of tickets to groups throughout the city. So while advance ticket sales may be almost nil, distribution may be better than originally thought. This will be a weird deal in that it still hasn't been publicized much is pretty much a thrown together game. It is on ESPN Classic today at 3:00 central time, so it should at least be worth checking out. They are using equipment (gloves, catcher's equipment, etc.) from the 40's so that will be an interesting twist. The game is at Rickwood Field, the oldest ballpark in America, so that itself is worth turning the dial to for a bit. Sorry for initially raining on your parade, BHAM.
  11. I sure as hell hope not. I'll say this..... I don't think he would ever do it, but I'd take Larry Bird in a heartbeat.
  12. QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 05:57 AM) Hall of fame game This is going to be awsome I can't wait on ESPN for none locals Barons hate to say this, but this event is going to be a joke. As of Tuesday, they had sold a total of 4 tickets! I think it was up to about 20 yesterday. No one knows about this game. They haven't promoted it. The teams are thrown together with who knows what players. You will see a weak game with hardly any fans on a cold afternoon with the only thing resembling a cool game being the uniforms. They are having freakin Willie Mays there and haven't promoted it AT ALL. Hate to be a negative naybob, but this thing is a mess.
  13. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 12:30 AM) Pizzahut.com has a sweet site to use to order pizza on-line for either pick up or delivery. They also have tons of coupons and stuff like that which you can use if you use their on-line service. We just tried it for the first time, and it went pretty well. Been doing it a long time. Not sure if the new site will still allow it, but the old site would allow you order the $8.99 any way you want it first-time order special everytime, by just creating a new username. Your email address didn't even have to be real, so rumor has it.
  14. I've been wondering if that is the surprise.... hate to say it, but its a little too late for that to get me excited. If he does play, his contribution will have to be limited
  15. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Feb 25, 2006 -> 03:56 AM) So, Zach, Rex, Balta, anyone... What's the big surprise for Sunday? Big surprise? Am I missing something? I worked 64 hours this week, so I must have if you are referring to something specific. I may not be able to watch Sunday's game (live at least). I have tickets to the Alabama-Florida game Sunday afternoon.
  16. I was wondering what you guys thought of Taylor Hicks. He is from Hoover, which is just down from my house. Music is very big in the Birmingham area, as evidenced by Ruben, Bo, Diana DeGarmo (born here but moved so she doesn't really count) and now Taylor. He is very interesting and quirky, but has a pretty cool style. I am disappointed that I did not take advantage of an invite to go so him and his band play at a local joint a couple of weekends ago. I should have known it would have been his last appearance before the Idol live shows began. I hope he does well, but I am honestly a bit surprised he is getting as much National love as he is. Pleasantly surprised, that is.
  17. QUOTE(Soxy @ Feb 24, 2006 -> 03:32 PM) Me too. I thought the worst ones went (although it will be easier to get rid of the guys, I think there are less talented guys than girls this year--although the talented guys are AWESOME--there's just less of them). Becky was not one of the top 5 or 6 girls, but I think she was definitely better than some of the others this week. She was better than Heather Cox and definitely better than that b**** Brenna. I also thought she was as good as Kinnik, which did not impress me at all. I was surprised by her exit, I really was. I thought her looks/stage presence would get here through a couple of weeks until the best girls left no room for her. As far as those who see the horse face, keep looking. This girl is HOT. Look at the makeup job in the maxim photos (which were taken in 2004) and how far up the cheek they ran their makeup. That will give you the "horse face" look along with the hair pulled back and makeup on. By all accounts, I don't know anyone that watched the show that thought she was less than stunning. Unfortunately, her voice did not measure up. She'll end up doing well somewhere, whether it is modeling or acting. She had a pleasant presence about her. Simon's very first words before he ever even heard he sing commented on how commercial she looked. One of my favs.....

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 24, 2006 -> 06:46 PM) I miss skyline and goldstar chili, only place they are located is southern Ohio. Skyline rules! But they are located all over Ohio, and in Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan and Florida as well. Kroger grocery stores also carry Skyline frozen and/or canned in many states as well. I can buy Skyline at Publix grocery store about 4 miles from my house. I prefer just a bowl of chili with a mound of finely shredded cheddar and oyster crackers. Add a side of garlic toast and I am in heaven. I'll always settle for a coney on a Vienna Beef hot dog (which I can get in Target down here, believe it or not) too! Skyline Locations If you are really jonesing and don't live near any of these, just order some online. I used to do it every winter until they started selling it down here. Order Skyline Here Hell, why we are at it, here is a link to find grocery stores that carry it, including Kroger and Meijer stores in Illiniois Where to find Skyline in Grocery Stores
  19. That is the best way for a school like SIU to get a big in-state school on the schedule. The MVC has done a pretty nice job in resisting the 2-for-1 contracts in recent years. I know Evansville has had success scheduling this way. They had a three year run with IU where they traded home games and played one in Indianapolis. IU got more of the gate and tickets for the game in Indy, but Evansville got a fair share. It was a great atmosphere and even though they lost, it did nothing but help them recruit the state at the time. Evansville finished the same type of three-game series with Purdue this year. The benefit to the smaller school is they get a home game, and a decent guarantee at a "neutral" arena in the state's biggest city. That game will always draw and pull in fans from both teams from across the state that may not have access to tickets or be able to go to the home arena. The bigger school gets the bigger gate at the "neutral" game and also gets exposure in a different city. The media coverage for such events is win-win for both.
  20. Thanks for the info. He sounds impressive. I guess we shall see how IU handles the search.
  21. Oh I shouldn't forget: Please and Thank You
  22. Aboz, sell me on Tom Crean. What do you know about him? I know he was an assistant to Tom Izzo but for how long? What else ya got on him? Educate me, damnit!
  23. QUOTE(Soxy @ Feb 23, 2006 -> 12:30 AM) I hereby propose replacing Valentine's day with ice cream and muff diving day. You do mean both at the same time, right?? That would be no colder than ice, right?
  24. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 22, 2006 -> 04:25 AM) We went from a virtual lock in the ncaa tournament to what's going to be a first round exit in the nit in one week. Doesn't get much better then that. Maybe tonight was just about Chris Lowery giving a little back to his hometown?
  25. Damn, SIU can say hello to the NIT now. I must say I am shocked. This may sound weird because I am an Evansville grad, but as bad as Evansville has been, I'd have rather seen SIU win to give the conference a better chance in the Tournament. Plus, any win like this could only delay the Aces chances to get rid of their coach and start anew.
