Bonds fallout hurting Sosa to Mets deal....
Maintaining flexibility is key to a baseball player. Bulking up too much, can actually slow their bat down and hurt their baseball skills. See Jose Canseco for one example.

Bonds fallout hurting Sosa to Mets deal....
Who cares if the contract has wording to get a team out of it. I am talking about the PR hit a team would take if they sign a guy to a huge deal only to find 6 months later he has been a big steroid user. Egg on one's face isn't a good thing and if I were a GM, I'd be careful about what I was doing right now.

This is a classic trap game. Coming off the huge emotional win and going on the road to play against an underrated team is a perfect upset setting. Games like these help define how good a team can really be over the long run. If UI struggles, can they find a way to win? That is the question that will be answered tomorrow.

If I were a GM, I'd think twice about offering anyone a large or long term contract right now. You never know what may come out of all this. In fact, this really could give the owners their own excuse for collusion in this free agent market if they were smart. They don't even need to discuss it with each other.

Willingham out at ND
Dig up some info on Ben Olsen for me, if you can. I have just recently heard of him, and apparently every school in the country is trying to recruit him. Any insights on how good he is and what schools may have an inside track? Also, is it true that Michigan has one of the top QB's in the country already committed? I'm in the dark when it comes to football recruiting. Only slightly less so when it comes to basketball. Gracias, amigo!

Nomar voted 3/4 share of BoSox WS Cut
They players vote on who gets full or partial shares... the list includes many people, including players that played only part of the season all the way down to full-time batboys and clubhouse personnel. I guess since they started playing well and made their playoff run after the Nomar trade, they felt he shouldn't get a full share. Of course, there could be some clubhouse politics involved there as well.

I'll be honest with you I am not convinced that Davis knows how to put an offensive team out there that can gel together and compete as a team. I'd love for the guy to succeed and stay for a long time because I think he is legitimately a great guy, but for now, I am not convinced.

Hey palhosefan, did you see Rashad McCants say "I'm going to f*** him up" after he got his fourth foul? I think little Ryan Tapak was getting on his nerves. lol I liked how IU battled tonight and was happy they hung in there as well as they did. I really thought it was going to be a massacre. That said, IU's problem is still the same as it has been the past 2 years. Besides having a mediocre offense, their offense tends to disappear for 4-5 minute stretches at least twice a game. They rarely, if ever, have 5 guys on the floor that are a legitimate threat to score. Ewing, White and Vaden were impressive, but they will be inconsistent for awhile. Strickland has to be the most overrated recruit ever. Wright didn't try to do it all by himself tonight, which I thought was a positive step for him. ____________________________________________________________________ I'm going to be repetitive about the Illini, but what the hell. They were extremely impressive tonight. It is difficult to tell who is the best player on this team. I honestly think you could make that argument for four players. I really enjoy watching this team. I just hope they play this well in March. Lastly, look for Arkansas to be a trap game. A letdown would be natural for the Illini, especially on the road. I don't know much about Arkansas, but playing an SEC team at home will not be easy, especially if they come out flat. They will need to battle through that game.

Willingham out at ND
On the flip side, there may be plenty of players who were not initially looking at Notre Dame that may enter onto the radar screen.

A "Beltran" like CFer for Garland?
What makes you assume that Frank, Carl and Harold would provide "strong black leadership"? The guy has problems. Players before such as Ellis Burks and Matt Lawton have reached out to him to no avail. Thinking the White Sox have the solution for this guy is very naive.

Jason, one of these days I am going to get you to see the wisdom of staying away from players like Bradley and Guillen. As you get older, I think you will see the light. Until then, I will keep hammering away, hoping you will see how these guys are/can be destructive influences on a team.

That's interesting......... I didn't realize that money filtered all the way down to teams that do not make the playoffs.

Willingham out at ND
I read somewhere that Washington contacted Willingham two weeks ago. Wouldn't that be tampering? Or is is one of those situations where...... some of Washinton's "people" contacted Willingham's "people" and there was never any official contact? Not that ND would care about the tampering at this point, but coming off a somewhat scandolous loss of their previous coach, you would think they would play it a little closer to the vest, so to speak.

DiNardo FIRED
I'd be happy with seeing the program like it was back when Bill Mallory was having some success. Most years were 7-4 with an 8-3 and 6-5 sprinkled in on occasion. Every once in a while, they would upset a Ohio St. or Michigan and usually go to a minor-mid-level bowl.

NCAA Football 2005
pardon my ignorance here, but I have rarely messed with any of the default settings...... Are these settings supposed to make the game more realistic? Are they basically pumping up the computer to make it more competitive? Also, I have been having a problem lately getting a message anytime I try to save changes to my settings saying that I have reached my maximum settings limit, yet I still have 444kb available on my memory card. Any thoughts or ideas?
