Houston ready to make an offer to Beltran
This can't be possible. Eight teams have already made offers, according to a write up already posted here. Can't recall the guys name.

*Official* College Basketball Thread
I just finished reading about it...... very unfortunate situation. My parents have season tickets and were very impressed with Dupree Fletcher. He was the Wisconsin Division I Player of the Year last year (not sure what level Division I in WI is). Marcus Butler was a two-time Division 4 Player of the Year in Ohio (again not sure about states and their divisions) and a lot was expected from both. They were the only two freshman in this year's recruiting class. I don't know much about Nelson, other than an article said he was voted most improved in the pre-season, whatever the hell that means. All three were guards, which will seriously hurt their depth. For a team that was just struggling to get back to respectability, this will hurt big time.

NCAA Football 2005
I think it is a great game. Passing is difficult, but it gets easier once you get the hang of it.

Don't know if you guys knew this or not but
More likely a Memphis Redbird

It wouldn't be a coincidence at all if Jim's friend saw rashid's post, rather than actually hearing it on ESPN News.

Willingham out at ND
Good posts fotop. Speaking of QB recruits, does anyone know about a guy named Ben Olson or something like that? A friend mentioned him to me, but I don't know much about him. Apparently he went to BYU, went on his mission and now has decided not to return to BYU. That's about all I know.

Willingham out at ND
Let's keep in mind that Willingham didn't get fired because he didn't win 9-10 games a year. He got fired because Notre Dame was getting embarassed. He got fired because they would show promise by beating Michigan and Tennessee, yet lose to BYU, Pitt and BC. If ND would have been competitive and not gotten blown out so much, and if they would have beaten the teams they should beat (even if that meant less upsets), Willingham would likely still have his job.

Willingham out at ND
Bones, in Notre Dame's case it was clearly a case of how it was done. Notre Dame had lost 5 games by 26 points or more under Willingham. Bob Davie lost one game that bad in his time under the golden dome. Holtz never lost by that much. Dan Devine lost by that much once. Recruiting had not been going well, and the losses were piling and they weren't competitive in those losses. IF ND beats BC and/or Pitt and doesn't get blown out by USC, then he probably keeps his job. But there was no indication that things were really looking up. They kept ending up in the same position every year, barely being bowl eligible.

Unfortunately money dictates the game be different now. When coaches stop getting $1.5 - $2 million a year contracts, then perhaps some of that pressure to win will subside. Until then, the coaches want big dollars, they campaign for the best facilities known to mankind and they get fired if they don't win. That is how things are today, like it or not.

A "Beltran" like CFer for Garland?
Personally I think the Sox would be better off staying away from Bradley AND getting rid of some of their vets, but that is another story. Beck, I see your point. I just don't think the Sox need to be messing with dynamite. I think they have a volatile enough of a clubhouse as it is. I think you are pretty much alone on this one. Here is a story about Bradley and his life. Looks like Burks and Lawton tried to help him, but it obviously didn't work out, since Cleveland later auctioned him off to the first bidder. Bradley knows only one way - the hard way

I disagree. The right coach comes in there and those 5 steps backward become leaps forward in a hurry. Meyer was an assistant at ND for 5 years, so his name is the first to surface. If something doesn't work there, don't think they won't go after Petrino or don't discount Jon Gruden this time around. Notre Dame is still a cream of the crop job and will be back to at least the 8-3, 7-4 level within two years. Book it.

Even though I am an IU fan and have it in my birth contract to hate Purdue, I am with you on this one. I have even softened a bit toward Purdue in my old age, but can't consider myself a fan. That said, I do find myself rooting for them when they are playing out of conference. I think you put it very well. Most people I know root for their conference, their home town teams that aren't their own (i.e. HS playoffs), etc. when they are playing against outside competition. I know I used to root for Purdue and Kentucky to go 0-30 every year (another unfulfilled dream.. sigh), but now only save the hatred for UK. If Purdue can help earn some respect for the Big Ten - a league that needs some respect right now - then I am all for it.

I don't think the line between the two is as black and white as you think. I know we disagree on this one, but I just don't see the defined line between the two. Bradley is a ticking time bomb. Another such player that the Sox got rid of was Rocky Biddle. I'm still voicing opposition to your idea on this one Beck. Got any others we can agree on? lol

Sox in hunt for Nomar?
Some felt he wasn't there for his teammates....... that he wasn't giving it his all, while they were duing a pennant race...... That in itself can definitely fit the definition of a cancer.

In my mind, Purdue was not a spot to look for the Big Ten to get a win, so tonight was expected. The Big Ten nees to win 3 out of 4 tomorrow night to have ANY chance of pulling this thing off.
