  1. Sign him to a minor league contract and invite him to Spring Training as a non-roster invitee. Why not.
  2. I am speaking more specifically of current free agents or those that are still eligible to file this year. A complete list would be cool, but not necessary. If anyone can dig one up, I think all of us would appreciate it. What I do know is that he will have a lot of say in what free agents go where this offseason. I know Boras has the following seven free agents. I am sure there are others. Carlos Beltran Adrian Beltre Magglio Ordonez JD Drew Jason Varitek Derek Lowe Kevin Millwood If someone digs up the list, or if you want to merge this into the Free Agency Resource thread, feel free. Gracias in advance.........
  3. Ozzie played SS for a long time....... I'd trust his judgement on whether someone can handle SS everyday.
  4. I agree...... until I see differently, I believe Bracey is as much a part of the problem as anyone. He's selfish and Davis allows it. Until Davis changes how he treats his "boys", IU is going to continue to have problems. Trust me, I this.
  5. I hope you are right, but color me skeptical until I see something showing me that on the court. My guess is we are looking at 17-14 or something like that. To me, that is a long year for IU basketball.
  6. I'd lower those expectations....... I am guessing it is going to be another long year for the Hoosiers.
  7. Sorry, but Dennis Ulacia is not close to the majors..... He is a fringe prospect AT BEST. Note Rogowski went 3-3 in that game and Bajenaru tossed two scoreless innings. Matt Smith gave up a couple of runs and Pedro Lopez went 0-4. Anderson is the only Sox player that did not play.
  8. I wish Wally well. He was a great minor league manager (probably the best I have ever seen) and a likable guy.
  9. For now, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. I just don't see Kelly making much of an impact as a Major League pitcher again. He was marginal in the first place.
  10. Couldn't happen to a nice program! LOL
  11. Still drinking? lol
  12. You been drinking Steff?
  13. note: I combined sacrifice bunts and flies...... he had 20 sac bunts in 2004.

  15. That was supposed to be in green, right??
  16. That was my point....... in a single or two game game situation, you never know...... Bellhorn hit ALL Of those HR's in the post-season after Francona left him in, being second-guessed along the way.......
  17. That is my understanding yes....... obviously, if he can only get a one year deal, then that is what he will have to take... he'd like a 3 year deal, but I don't think he is holding his breath..... What it will boil down to is how well his agent can negotiate. There will be three or four teams that will make (or have already made) overtures and at least two or three, including the Sox that will be serious. Which team wants him most? Which has the least reasonable "plan b"? Which team will offer an amount to get Omar to say yes without trying to continue the negotiating process? That is what will matter and it MAY take $8 million to get him. It is not like the Sox are the only team that is interested in him.
  18. Man, in the playoffs, I think you can take OPS and toss it out the f***ing window........ a manager knows what a guy can or cannot do. He knows how they are playing at the current time. That is what matters. OPS is a measure of performance over the long haul. It gives you no indication of what a player who is struggling today, will do tomorrow........
  19. Keep in mind that in 2003 he was done after about 50-60 games.....
  20. which was better than Bellhorn gave them in games 1-3 of the Yankees series...... I am not saying that would have been the right move, but the fans, media, it seemed everyone was calling for him to bench Bellhorn. He was 1-12 in the Yankees series and hitting .087 for the playoffs at that point. Hell, I wondered if that might be a necessary move. Damon was 1-13 in games 1-3. Giving Dave Roberts a start would not have been out of the realm of reason.
  21. This is just speculation, but I would think Omar would take a little less if they gave him a club option for a third year with a modest buyout.
  22. Francona's strength as a manager is knowing and believing in his people. How many people were calling for him to sit Damon or Bellhorn down? Hell, they were chanting Pokey in Fenway during Game 2 or 3. Blindly sticking with someone that is struggling can hang a coach or make him a hero. Francona clearly made the right choice sticking with the guys that got him there, showing them he had confidence in them to turn things around. They did rather quickly! He was also very good at letting the players be themselves and do their own thing, while still keeping them all focused on the same goal. That is harder than you think.
