  1. Don't have a link....... the info doesn't come from print, my man. How often have I steered you wrong before?
  2. Yeah, managing is so easy........
  3. I know for a fact that Omar hates leading off....... that good enough?
  4. The owner of BALCO is now admitting they gave two different types of steroids to Barry Bonds. I am so tired of all the innuendo, rumors, hearsay, that I will post this and disappear from the topic. Let me know when it all shakes out and we know EXACTLY what has and hasn't happened. LOL ESPN.com Breaking News
  5. All the list posted in this thread means is that these guys are now free agents, able to sign with whoever they want, whoever offers them the most money, the best opportunity, etc. The control is on the side of the players here. The Sox have to decide which guys they would like to keep and try to re-sign them, just as they do with Major League Free Agents. Minor League free agents make more money than their teammates (often more than 40-man roster players), signing bonuses excluded, because of this.
  6. Jason, can you scare up a list of the minor leaguers that the Sox have to put on the 40-man roster or risk losing in the Rule 5 draft? I am not sure it is available in print anywhere, so you may have to make a call or two. Have it on my desk by noon Friday. Thanks!
  7. I'd sure as heck like to see the comments he made..... or at least learn in what context they were made. Geez, this could be all about NOTHING.
  8. STILL waiting for someone to find the comments Maggs made to start this. I know about the surgery in Austria and his appaent unavailability to the Sox, but what has he said to deserve this venomous response? Anyone? Buehler? Anyone?
  9. Very simply, weekday games in April are not big draws. The weather is likely to be bad. School is in. Major League Baseball does the best they can NOT to put teams in that situation. Obviously, that isn't always possible, but if you look at all the schedules, the warmer weather teams usually open at home.
  10. I am not convinced Pedro is worth $13 mil a year, especially if it is guaranteed for 3 yrs...... Not for a pitcher that cannot consistently go beyond 100 pitches.
  11. Pardon my ignorance here, but where is the original comment from Maggs that KW was referring to?? And FWIW, that quote from Kenny is at least a week old........
  12. The only team that should fret over '94 is the Expos........ single-handedly ruined the franchise.
  13. I don't think I could disagree with that more. Foulke was asked a question and answered it honestly. He didn't come across as venomous against the Sox. What he said was pretty much true. If no reporter asks the question, this is not brought up. Why jump all over Embree when all he did is spoke the truth? Can only the great players be quoted now? This story is so not a big deal! Take a valium!
  14. It was watchable before?? The NBA became uninteresting with the departure of Larry Bird and Magic Johnson. Jordan kept things interesting enough to keep people hanging on for a while, but now.........
  15. Arizona isn't just trying to dump salary. They will only trade RJ if they can get premium in return for him. They know he is their only ticket draw right now and aren't going to slap their fans in the face by trading him just to dump his salary. Normal salary considerations in trades most likely will not apply here.
  16. Can't comment on your whole rant because I stopped reading it after the first paragraph. Let's not forget this was apparently not the first time that Honel has had a mysterious drop in velocity. Sometimes blame does not have to be placed. Sometimes things are just what they are.
  17. Especially from somebody with only 29 posts?? Is this a new name from an old poster? How the hell would he know about spam posts?
  18. I'd hate to give up too much for getting a guy for just one year.
  19. And you know this how?
  20. Like I said, just disband the league....... hardly anyone would notice.
  21. I thought about that when they were showing the OF highlights...... I was thinking that none of these plays are better than what Edmonds did last night. Then again, his climb-the-wall catch in CF, which I thought was the play of the year was pretty damned sweet. He could have his own highlight reel.
  22. That still doesn't tell me how far into this they are. Would they normally have started the regular season by now? Are they just missing exhibition games?
  23. Thsi may be a dumb question, but what is the deal with the NHL right now? I know their is a lockout, but how far into it are they? Are they already missing regular season games? Has their been any sign of a reconciliation? Thanks for keeping a sports fan who can't stand hockey informed. LOL
  24. Agreed.......... I think what made Jeter's catch so great was the circumstances around it. It was a key moment in a Yankees-Red Sox series. It was an unbelievable play in a clutch situation, but I don't agree that it was the play of the year. I'd have to see it again, but it looks as if he may have been able to make the play while sliding, which would have allowed him to avoid the stands. Either way, it was a great play, but in my mind more of a clutch play than the best play of the year, if that makes sense. And you can quote stats all you want, Jeter is a winner. I'd take him on my team any day!
