  1. Hey Jason, be careful not to strain your shoulder patting yourself on the back so hard.
  2. No idea..... haven't really talked to anyone in Charlotte lately... sorry
  3. Cerb, Rauch has always had a certain prickness about him. I don't think he has ever been very popular with his teammates and his "makeup" has always been questioned inside the Sox organization from what I am told. This is perhaps why he has gotten passed by for some chances others think he should have had. I really think Rauch read too many headlines during his POY season, and unfortunately believed them all.
  4. Yofu had me convinced he was starting.....
  5. I could only find 40 games played in OF, no splits by position. I haven't seen Joe play OF since 2001, so I can't really comment on how he would do in Chicago defensively.
  6. Joe Borchad now hitting .288 Jeremy Reed now hitting .288
  7. Sure I do..... you should see the women I hook up with.
  8. Thanks for picking up my slack MSF.
  9. I know this could belong on the Minor League board, but it seemed relevant since we don't yet know who the starter will be for Saturday's Sox game. Grilli is scheduled to start tonight per the Minor League scoreboard on Sportsnetwork, yet apparently, Yofu is getting the call. I went back and looked at Charlotte's rotation and apparently they are 6-deep right now (not including Pacheco who is on the DL) so I am not sure what that means. Under a normal rotation, Grilli would have been due to pitch last night, which would have also put him right on schedule for Saturday, so that is probably not what the Sox are up to. It wouldn't make sense to have him going into the rotation without him being on a regular schedule. The weird part of it is, Yofu is now going on 3 days rest when they have six starters, so I have no clue what the hell they are doing. Their past six games: 5-24 Stewart 5-23 Diaz 5-22 Kohlmeier 5-21 Yofu 5-20 Rauch 5-19 Grilli Any thoughts??
  10. Big jugs ain't everything..... I nominate that as the thought of the day! Actually, Jim, my comment about old codgers was directed at Jim Fainter, but hey, if you are an old codger and your name is Jim, then the shoe fits.... so wear it proudly! LOL
  11. unlike old codgers like you, huh Jim?
  12. He's 24. He spent three straight years in Lakeland (High A) and last year in Erie (AA). 2002 was his best year when he hit .258 with 23 HR and 85 RBI. Last year he hit .238 with 13 HR and 54 RBI.
  13. The thing I never understood is why Rowand is labeled a part-time player and is harshly criticized, yet Joe Crede seems to get a free ride. Don't get me wrong, I like Crede as well, but both players got off to crappy starts last year and Rowand was the odd man out. This year, Rowand is doing better than Crede on most accounts. I am not advocating mediocrity here, but to me there seems to be a different standard. I guess it is easier to find a replacement for an OF than a 3B.
  14. Reyes must have gone on the DL. He got hurt diving for a ball Thursday night... I hadn't heard how serious it was. But with Morse also out, they needed someone. The Barons roster is like walking wounded right now. Reyes, Morse are down. Spidale missed two games with a bruised foot or ankle. Sasser has had to play OF a lot. Shaffer stepped in at SS. Really ugly lately........
  15. Heavier baseballs?
  16. The Sox are going with a 4-man rotation through June 13th, after next Saturday. OFf days will allow them to do so.
  17. Don't forget to add Reyes was hurt and didn't play. Shaffer had to play SS the last two nights.
  18. I think Webster was a case of being hyped too much, too fast........
  19. Brando, I can't answer that because I have only seen the White Sox a handful of times this year and can honestly say I don't know how Adkins or Jackson are doing. I guess my thought would be if someone went down with an injury, I think he could fill in and handle himself respectabily. I don't think there should be any rush to get him to Chicago, but if an opportunity arises, I would make the call if I were the Sox. Does that help?
  20. I'm just saying that I don't recall reading anyone say they thought he needed AAA time, nor what that may be based on.
  21. I'm not sure where that concensus is drawn from......... I am about the only one on here that has seen him pitch regularly in the last two years and I don't think he needs AAA time at all. Could he step in as a MLB closer? maybe, but I wouldn't put him in that position...... Do I think he is ready to step in as a middle reliever to set up guy. Sure. He is as confident as they come right now and his results are showing it. His command is good and his stuff is Major League quality. Am I saying he could step in and be an all-star? no But I do think he could help a team out of the bullpen now. Without a question.
  22. Big Cecil was in the house a couple of times this week........ then again, he is nowhere near as big now as the Bid Daddy we once knew. He looked good.
  23. 8 hits in 6 innings is not ideal, but only 1 walk with 10 k's does not a crappy outing make. He allowed a 3-run HR which accounted for most of his runs. Not a stellar outing by any means, but certainly not crappy.
  24. Those were his first two baserunners in his last 9 innings pitched. Finished off the inning with a double play ball to SS.
  25. Blakely to W-S; Martel to Birmingham.
