Stat o' the Day
Actually, AA to AAA is considered one of the smaller jumps, hence the number of players that skip AAA and go to the Majors. The difference between AA and AAA talent-wise is not that great. The biggest difference is in consistency and experience. AA is full of players who should adapt to AAA rather easily, with minor adjustments. AA also has a lot of players who are at their highest level and will never make it to AAA or they won't stick if they do.

Stat o' the Day
Not likely, but anything is possible........

Proposed Changes
Unfortunately, the bench isn't strong enough to bench Crede, Rowand and Konerko all at once...... (then again, what bench would be?) I agree that it is getting very close to the time to give Reed a chance. Perhaps he can provide a spark and fit nicely in the lineup behind Harris. IF this happens, Sox fans will need to be patient if he struggles at first and not want him shipped right back to Charlotte. Sometimes one move, can wake up a whole team, if a spark is provided.

Five Good Minutes With Joe Borchard
aboz, he mentioned his back in the interview...... did you follow up with more on that? Get any details?

5/8 Games
Just don't see any consistency in his delivery or in his location..... I have only seen him a few times so perhaps I am rushing my judgement. But the guy was a college draftee who spent three years in Class A with mediocre results and doesn't have a defined role with the Barons. Perhaps he will be a guy who develops late. Anything is possible, but I just don't see it.

5/8 Games
maybe, but I would not bet my house on it.........

5/8 Games
Two interesting notes.......... 1. Barons pitchers faced one batter over the minimum 27 because two of the three hits were erased by double plays. 2. There were 5 shutouts in the Southern League tonight..... including 2 doubleheaders with both games as shutouts

If you want Minor League info, it is the Bible of Minor League Baseball and the Draft. It is only published every two weeks, so there are better ways to get MLB coverage. But their coverage of the minors is unmatched.

5/8 Games
Anyone notice Chris Young is heating up? He is not doing it ala Brian Anderson, but he is up to .250 now. He was at .191 at the end of April. H also has 7 walks in the last 5 games, after only 4 up to that point the whole season. Kanny today got beat by Adam Loewen, one of the top players from the 2002 draft. He went to a FL Juco and didn't sign until just before the 2003 draft.

Change-ups
or perhaps they just hit their spots better?

Where do you go for your minor league info
Each team's web site is informative. Some are better than others, but they should have all the stats you need there. Most should be linked into The Sportsnetwork which has the MLB and MiLB stats contract this year. The leaders stats are sortable, so you can click on a stat at the top and it will list them using that category. An example......... Birmingham Barons 2004 Statistics

5/6 games
Wyatt Allen issued two walks to go with the one hit, so his inning wasn't that good. Yeah, he struck out the side, but he did it while walking a tightrope.

Joe Borchard
But at least Dellaero could do one thing EXCEPTIONALLY well....
