  1. From today's Birmingham News
  2. His original position was SS. He was moved for a reason.
  3. Cabrera was indeed the best hitter in the SL this year. No knock on Jeremy Reed, but Cabrera is a special kid. At 20, he tore up a league of mostly 22-25 year olds. In 69 games he hit .365 with a .609 SLG and .429 OBP to go with 29 2B's, 10 HR, 59 RBI, 31 BB and 9 SB's. I saw him play for all of three games in the first week of the season and it was easily evident he was the real deal.
  4. Durham is a AA player......
  5. Anybody got a link for this or is it in print only??
  6. Since when do we hang a guy based on a nameless quote in print?? I am not saying this did or didn't happen, but it certainly would surprise me if it did. Call him all the names you want, but I am not going to get too carried away over a quote that has no one's name attributed to it. I would hope some of you would be smart enough to do the same.
  7. I'll see what I can find...... FWIW, I don not think they will protect Stumm nor do I think he will be selected by another team. He is nowhere near ready for the Majors.
  8. I disagree big time........ That play had everything to do with the outcome of the game. If Alou makes that catch, there are two out with a runner on 2nd. There is no way you can convince me that the Marlins still score 8 runs or even 3 in that situation... That said, yes, they had chances to overcome it and did not so they do bear part of the blame. But you cannot tell me if the same thing happened to the Sox, Sox fans would not be calling for his head too. Lastly, the thing that sucks for the guy is that there were two other guys doing the same exact thing, they just couldn't quite reach the ball. They will get off scott free while this guy takes the punishment alone. Its not like they weren't trying to do the same thing.
  9. MJ is a AAA catcher.
  10. Cotts did not throw a lot of innings this year. He threw 121.1, which is not a lot by any standards. He also did not get hit hard in his few starts for the Sox.
  11. Good article, but strange headline........
  12. Yan doesn't belong there until he can prove he has more than one tool.. Miles is too old for BA's taste. A lot of the Sox top talent is young or borderline old.
  13. I shudder at the thought..... LOL Then again it is a good thing he has some good people around him. Let's hope that helps.
  14. I got no problem with jokes just as long as I don't fall for them or I am the one playing them. ;-) Anyone remember the "Sox Leaving Their Bats in Birmingham?" LOL
  15. So the Yankees are going to get Castillo, Sheffield, Vladimir and Colon? Not gonna happen.
  16. Think a little here........... How many trades do you recall happening and being announced in the middle of the baseball playoffs?? None...... the business of baseball for the teams not involved in the public will commence again after the WS.
  17. Beckett was very good last night, but does anyone doubt he would look 12 if he shaved? LOL
  18. He would be the Sox SS today without a doubt....... IF you could DH for the SS instead of the pitcher! lol I don't want to get into a debate over blown draft picks because I don't have the time nor the desire to research 29 other teams..... But ALL teams have high draft picks that don't pan out. Many more picks don't pan than do. And looking at your list..... Liefer and Johnson made the bigs, Dellaero was too damned stubborn to change, can't blame the Sox because Stumm got hurt twice, Purvis has had two surgeies now (although I am not convinced he would have made it anyway, but you never know), Borchard still has a chance as well as Allen. Sometimes you have to take a chance on guys that are risks but could have a high ceiling.
  19. He is going to play Winter Ball. He will play for Wally Backman in Puerto Rico.
  20. But why would they non-tender him. You know teams would trade for him or some of the other pitching in a heartbeat. Depth is a good thing, you don't just give it up.
  21. I think there is NO WAY IN HELL AJ Burnett is a non-tender. He is arguably the Marlins best pitcher (although Mr. Beckett is challenging that today).
  22. Magglio Ordonez will start the 2004 season with the Chicago White Sox. Fiction: Maggs will be traded UNLESS the FT does not come back and/or the Sox can move Konerko. They need to move salary and Maggs may be the best option. Bartolo Colon will be a member of the Yankees in 2004. Fiction: Not sure if he will be with the Sox, but I am guessing he won't end up with the Yankees. Jeremy Reed will make the White Sox out of spring training next season. Fiction: This could happen if he tears it up in ST and the Sox move Maggs, but they will not keep him on the roster to be a 4th OF. He starts or goes to AAA. Ozzie Guillen will be the next manager of the Chicago White Sox. Fiction: I'm probably wrong on this one, but playing a hunch. Jerry Manuel will be employed (in some capacity) by a major league ballclub next season. Fact: IF he wants to be. Joe Borchard should no longer be considered a prospect. Fiction: Joe B is still a prospect, just no longer a top prospect. Robbie Alomar will be a member of the 2004 White Sox. Fiction: Flipped a coin. The White Sox will be the 2004 AL Central Champions. Fact: I see some new life in this team, along with some new faces.
  23. Rex Hudler replied to WHarris1's topic in Pale Hose Talk
:begood rex... I thought I was nice. LOL I could have said "Hey, read all the f***ing posts first, you idiot", but I didn't because I have done the same. Granted I called myself an idiot immediately after doing so, but that's just me.
  24. CW, I think you are right. 2004 would be a highly disappointing season with two left fielders, especially once teams figured out they could just hit it to right field and practially run all day.
  25. Are you saying they were high? No, that's only the A's. Atleast they weren't gettinh haircuts like their fellow New York team. Somebody help me out here, but haven't the BoSox been doing that? Isn't it some kind of luck thing or superstition with them? I meant during the game, ie Ray Sanchez. The BoSox have alot of guys with shaved heads now. They also got that 'Cowboy Up" slogan or whatever it is. I thought I head something about them getting their haircut during the game. I may be off because I caught the tail end of it, but that is the way it sounded. am I nuts?
