Becektt mini-interview
Garland is nowhere near the talent Josh Beckett is and never has been. The expectations for Josh Beckett have been extremely high from Day 1. Garland needs to break out and show success at a young age, but he will never be near the talent level of Beckett.

Has anyone else heard this?
Let's all repeat after me......... Carl Everett is so far gone from the Sox, he is probably in Australia right now. Carl will not be back, nor should he be at the money he makes or is likely to make.

Garland to get a Contract
I don't know the exact numbers, but FWIW, players have lost something like 9 out of the last 10 cases that have gone to arbitration. Very few go that route anymore. Most get a contract done, even if it is a one year deal.

JOHN RAUCH
You sure Rex, for some reason I thought he pitched in both. Probably confusing him with Sanders who I know pitched in Winter ball and dominated there. Majewski, Sanders and Hummel all did well in winterball. Who was the other Sox rep last year? Stewart pitched very well in the AFL. Not sure who the 5th was off the top of my head. Actually, I do. It was Joe Valentine. He hadn't been traded yet, had he?

JOHN RAUCH
I don't remember the splits either, but you are correct in that his numbers were good after that. I do know in his first 4 appearances, he got shelled three times, giving up a total of 12 earned runs, I believe. It was really ugly. On a side note, he did not pitch in the Arizona Fall League, but he did pitch in Winter Ball. He was both the rookie of the year and the pitcher of the year in, I believe, the Dominican Winter League.

100 Greatest World Series
Some thoughts on WS that I can remember.... Hope at least one person finds them interesting... 1975 - one of the best ever... awesome series from game 1 1976 - easy Cincy win over the Yanks... the Big Red Machine was unstoppable 1977 - Cincy broke up the Big Red Machine by trading Tony Perez (why I can't remember)... Series was boring except for Reggie... Hit 3 HR's in one game, all on the first pitch of the at bat, I believe. He also homered in the last AB in the gambe before as well. One of the best individual performances... 1978 - boring Yanks beat dodgers again.... 1979 - fun series with Pirates and their "We are Family" them beating the Orioles 1980 - Phillies beat Royals - all i can remember is Pete Rose playing and Tug McGraw thumping his glove on his thigh.... 1981 - Dodgers - Yanks again..... don't remember much except Dodgers win this time 1982 - Awesome series with Cards and Brew Crew.... wrong team won though 1983 - Orioles-Phillies - don't recall a lot and I wasn't even drinking yet 1984 - Padres-Tigers - Tigers started the season 35-5 and played about .500 ball the rest of the season, but were good enough to get in done in the WS... 1985 - Royals beat Cards highlighted by Cards fans whining about Don Denkinger's call at 1B in game 6... Cards lost Game 7, 11-0 1986 - One of the best... something about series the Red Sox are in..... 1987 - Twins rise up to beat Cards.... home team won every game in this one 1988- Kirk Gibson's HR in game one was one of the best single baseball moments I have ever seen.... If you ever get a chance to watch the whole sequence/inning, do it... unbelievable.... Hershiser finishes off the A's and the Dodgers pull off a Major upset 1989 - Earthquake series... A's sweep series but takes 2 weeks to play the 4 games... 1990 - Reds sweep heavily favored A's... 1991 - Braves-Twins..... another great series.... nailbiters and drama throughout.. both teams went worst to first, I believe 1992 - Blue Jays upset Braves... I think this is the year Molitor was on fire... 1993 - Mitch Williams- Joe Carter... great moment, pretty good series 1994 - :fyou 1995 - Braves-Indians.... Bravos lone WS win 1996 - beginning of Yanks dynasty... no repeat for Atl. 1997 - Marlins-Indians... might be the series I watched the least of.... 1998 - Yanks beat Padres... boring 1999 - Braves swept by Yanks..... I had tickets to Game 6 in Atlanta :fyou 2000 - Yanks-Mets... I watched, but other than Clemens/Piazza it was boring 2001 - Yanks-D'backs.... awesome series.... one of the 5 best on this list for sure 2002 - good series, but a yawner when you look back....

100 Greatest World Series
The 75 series was awesome... Yas, that series is the first real remembrances I have of baseball now. I watched it before, and collected baseball cards that whole season (wish I still had those now), but I can't really remember any detail of anything else before that, except listening to the 1974 AS Game on radio while the family was on vacation (@ Beech Bend State Park for you the Kentucky guy).

Article on Guillen....
If Ozzie hit a grounder in the infield, he would jog to first base. Hawk even criticized him for it once. You remember one game, Ozzie played over 1000 for the Sox. He hustled when he was on base, but might have been on base more had he hustled all the time. He has no patience, hence his walk total. I don't think that is a good trait for a manager to have, although JM had too much patience. Ozzie even popped off about the fans saying the team didn't need them. Shall we assume that Ozzie isn't your favorite candidate for the job?

Someone is a little testy tonight. I thought you were better then that Rex, but I guess not. You knew what I meant, but you still have to be a smartass about it, thats not cool. Geez dude just calm down he was only joking around!!!! Rex is one of the best posters on this site!!! TOTALLY COMIN TO YOUR RESCUE REX!!!!!!! Its ok to get off your knees every now and then for a breath chisoxrd5. Please not another person that can't think for themselves and automaticly sucks up to Rex. He was being a smartass for no reason. Yes I was being a smartass. Sometimes I do that. Especially when what I am saying is true. Don't take things so personal, I was just playin around. (which the big smiley face should have tipped you off to) Life can't be serious all the time, can it?
-
Kris Honel
Technically, they don't have to show you s***. They have to prove themselves to KW, the manager and Coop.

No one knows (publicly anyway) about Josh's condition and how he is responding. It is still up in the air whether he will ever be able to pitch again, unfortunately. Let's hope he recovers and pitches at whatever level. We can worry about him pitching well after he gets re-established as being able to go every 5th day again.

Kris Honel
My guess is a #3, give or take two.
