  1. Anything else you want Michelle? LOL Kid Gleason, sorry to burst your bubble, but Frank is too busy in the strip clubs to surf on here.
  2. He makes up s*** that's not there to try prove his point. Watch what he is saying when his describing what happened on a play and half the time he is exaggerating so he sounds like he knows what he is talking about..... I'm over that.
  3. Obviously none of us were there so no one knows for sure exactly what was said. But if JM knew the guy a bit and they were just talking in the yard casually, I could see him being honest about what went on. That said (and I expect Ncorgbl to argue with me and call this guy a dumb asshole soon) I have heard many things about Frank over the years from many different types of sources, including several that were part of the locker room and what was just posted basically jives with everything I have heard. I said long ago that FT is selfish and not a "team guy", yet everyone wants to argue with me. It looked like he had made some strides this year (at least what the public eye could see), but perhaps that is not the case. I have said it before and will say it again, I truly believe the Sox will be a better team the day Frank leaves, regardless of his production.
  4. Thanks man, kinds words are always appreciated....
  5. I understand your concerns, but many of those could be rectified very easily in the offseason. I guess my thought is there is a difference in being concerned, yet hopeful, than being pessimistic. I just think pessimism to the point of sounding as if you are already writing the season off is going a bit too far at this point. I see more hope than that, despite very valid concerns. Lots of time for these things to play out.

Out of curiosity, why is Gaston unacceptable?? For the record, I really have not developed an opinion of him either way. Just interested in all thoughts....
  7. Just ask him, he'll tell you so......
  8. That one earned my vote for Classiest Post of the Year!
  9. Two things....... 1. Don't forget that all 40 players on the roster make up the ML payroll, not just the 25 on the Sox roster. The other 15 aren't much in terms of numbers, but they still need to be figured in. 2. I don't understand the pessimism. I know the Sox season in some ways was very disappointing, but I also thought it was very encouraging in others. Every year some tweaking is going to be necessary, but the tone here seems to think a fire sale is coming in the next month or two. I believe the free agent market will allow the Sox to find players that will fit (both on the field and in the books) and there may be a trade or two that may help. There also is the possibility of making moves during the season like this year that could help give the club a push. I think patience is in order here because the Sox could be very solid next year, especially with the improvement of some of the young guys. I wouldn't get too caught up in payroll numbers at this point.
  10. Because his answers are longer than yours. Readers either get confused reading it or are just too weary from reading the whole post so they just agree with it.

    That'll never happen....
  12. If the Sox pay Carl Everett more than Carlos Lee, they are dumber than I ever could have imagined....
  13. With all due respect, life in a locker room is no where near what it is like in the real world. Having played and been around baseball for a long time, I assure you that last night was a good laugh and was no big deal at all.
  14. I was really surprised he ran him out there for the 8th innning. He was right at 100 pitches (give or take a couple) after 7 which works for me. I questioned right away the decision to bring him out in the 8th. I don't think the idea of using him in Game 4 was or should be a factor. He'll go again in Game 6 and it is very unlikely they would bring him back, even if for a short stint in Game 4.
  15. I think you are way off base on this. Those guys know Ozzie before and I'm sure Pavano did not take that as an attempt by Guillen to belittle him. Ozzie's always been a cut up and tried to keep people laughing. It was Tejera, not Pavano and it all looked like it was good-natured fun. Guys make fun of each other daily, that's the way things are in a clubhouse. In my mind, when you are losing 12-2, if a team can stay loose, that is a good sign. I wouldn't think twice about it, nor do I believe Tejera will, with the exception of other possible jokes thrown his way inside the clubhouse. It was one pitch that slipped. No big deal.
  16. Is JT Snow not considered one of the best defensive 1B in baseball??
  17. Ozzie's offense definitely got him into the Hall of Fame... If he was a .220 hitter, one he wouldn't have lasted as a starter for so long and two, no matter how good a guy is defensively, he is not a hall of Famer if he hits .220. Nitpick all you want, but Ozzie was one of the best players during his era, hardly overrated.
  18. I guess I am going to have to defend my comment because some of you aren't smart enough to grasp conceptual thinking.... Saying that Ozzie Smith was once a "younger version of Rey Ordonez" is completely accurate if you can understand the meaning behind it. Obviously putting it in quotes wasn't enough to make you understand the idea, so I will type slower this time while explaining...... For those of you who understood the first time, I apologize for wasting your time reading this. Rey Ordonez is a light hitting, great defensive SS. The term used to be "good glove, no hit" to describe that type of player. Ozzie Smith was once that same kind of player, until he learned to hit and became a solid big league hitter while earning gold glove after gold glove... The comparison is the same.. "a younger Rey Ordonez" = a young Ozzie Smith. And for those of you that need a history lesson, Ozzie Smith made himself into a more than respectable hitter. He averaged .279 over the last 10 years, including 25 doubles. (I excluded his last two years because he was not a full time player and his total AB's in those two years barely equaled 1/2 of one full season) For the time he played, Ozzie was a very respectable hitter and hardly can be considered overrated. He was a key player on three Cardinals WS teams. Overrated players do not make the Hall of Fame near unanimously.
  19. Jason, I am not a network TV guy so I don't claim to know what is best for them, nor do I know enough to agree/disagree with what they are doing tonight, but here is how it going to work.... The games will not be split tonight with one on Fox and one on FX. Rather, the decision as to which game is broadcast on Fox will be based on regionalization. By doing this, they are trying to ensure the greatest possible audience for the Fox broadcast, even though it will not be the same game in all areas. For instance, in Chicago and Miami (and their corresponding markets) the Cubs-Marlins game will be on Fox, while the Yankees-Red Sox will be on Fx. In the Northeast (and again, whatever other areas they determine this would be the primary game) they will show the Red Sox-Yankees game on Fox and the Cubs-Marlins on Fx. This way, everyone (or most everyone) will have the opportunity to see either game, but they will show the primary game on Fox based on geographical area. Think of it like how ABC does the 2:30 college football game each week. They regionalize 4 different games to maiximize viewership. However, in this instance, what Fox is doing can be likened to ABC putting the other 3 football games on different, less watched stations so everyone can have an opportunity to watch any of the games, but the overall numbers should be higher because of the regionalization on the major network. This is how it was all explained to me, anyway.....

Yas, but didn't you hear the tone of their voices?? LOL I hate to say this, but some of you guys have way too much time on your hands if you are so worried about s*** like this? No wonder Sox fans have an inferiority complex.... they go looking for it! Relax, watch baseball and don't compare every word that is said to how it relates to the Sox. Try and enjoy playoff baseball, whether your team is in it or not. It's actually a lot of fun!
  21. I don't know Itzuris that well and am not making a prediction whatsoever with this comment, but at one time, Ozzie Smith was a "younger version of Rey Ordonez".
  22. Is Pierre a free agent? He hasn't been around that long, has he?
  23. That's why I'm going. Playoff baseball. I don't care who it is. I'm obviously not rooting for the Cubs. But my ticket was free so I'm taking advantage. Sounds like a fun night. I watched half a game from a rooftop a few years ago before I went inside the stadium and had a blast. I went to Game 5 in Atlanta the other night and the atmosphere was awesome. Exactly what baseball should be all about. Have a great time.
  24. Jesus I'm 15, give me a break. Gotta teach you right from the beginning. LOL
  25. The strange thing is I have had dealings with Tim Hudson and he is one of the last guy's I would see being out carousing and getting into a bar fight. Never can tell though, I guess..... In response to your post, Killa, do you really think these guys turn into saints just because the playoffs have started? I don't know Tim Hudson's lifestyle and who knows, he could have been drinking water, but if you think these guys change just because a game means something you are very naive. Athletes feel like they are bullet proof, especially once they get a bunch of money in their hands. They get used to playing and living a lifestyle and if that means they go out and drink a lot, that is what they are used to. They aren't going to stop. If there is a day game following a night game, perhaps, but to think these guys all of a sudden are angels just doesn't fly.
