Thank you Rex. Just trying to help the kid out....... he does have a passion for the Sox, regardless of how misguided it is at times.

Why try to talk your way out of anything? Rather than spouting bulls*** out of your ass, why don't you form an opinion based on facts? You said that Rowand only had 23 AB's and that didn't mean s***, yet applauded Aaron Miles results in only 12 at bats. A little fact and consistency might earn you a little respect roman. Until then, no one takes anything you say seriously and is laughed off.

For the record, a big fat 8 before today.........

Roman, Rowand was recalled from Charlotte on June 10. Since his promotion he has hit: .381 with 6 doubles, 6 home runs, and 22 rbi. Once again, your facts are off.

How am I underestimating him?? The guy had only two good years before this year. Fortunately for him, they were good enough to move him into the upper tier of the pay scale. His other six plus year were mediocre, at best.

He might.......... but history certainly doesn't back up your theory. The guy is an average player who plays hard. Lots of those kind of players much cheaper.

So you would pay big bucks to a guy who hits .257-14-58?? LOL LOL

2004 SOX
Guillen is the Marlins 3B coach, not bench coach. A technicality yes, but there is a difference.

Everett is gone........... bank on it. The Sox are not going to pay him $7 mil or more. Once he becomes a free agent, his price will come down. I don't see the Sox offering arbitration, but I still don't think the Sox can sign him for less than 20% than what he made this year until after a certain deadline. I may have some things mixed up here, but the bottom line is I don't see him signing for less than $5 million, which is where I believe his true value is. Keep in mind this is a guy that before this year, had only two non-mediocre seasons. The likelihood of him having a season making him a $5 mil or higher player is not great in my opinion.

White Sox 2004 lineup?
This will probably be considered an anti-Miles post, but it is not. It is intended to make Sox fans think a bit differently.... Imagine the Sox winning the World Series, beating the Atlanta Braves (for example. Do you realistically see Aaron Miles as the starting 2Bman? The reason KW went out and got Everett and Alomar is because he felt those guys could help you win the World Series. Unfortunately, the Twins had something to say about that. My point is think bigger than making the playoffs. What kind of team will it take to win the World Series. Generally WS winners are strong up the middle and that is the Sox biggest question mark. The Sox are committed to Olivo for the future and he is good enough defensively. Rowand plays his ass off and could be a spark plug for a winning club. Valentin? Miles? Harris? The bottom line is one, perhaps two of these guys could fit into a WS team with the right players around them. But if you can realistically envision Miguel Olivo, Aaron Miles/Willie Harris, Jose Valentin and Aaron Rowand manning the middle of the diamond on a World Series Champion, I want some of what you are smoking..... I am not saying you need a team full of all-stars, but you have to have role players in the right mix, not filling the middle of the field.

White Sox 2004 lineup?
Jason, you think the Sox will pay $7.3 mil or more??? Can't see it happening here.

White Sox 2004 lineup?
Funny, the Yankees have done quite well without a 40+ HR guy. I do believe they even won a couple of WS without anyone that hit even 30. Keep spoutin' BS, doubleM, do what you are good at.
-
White Sox 2004 lineup?
Color me a fool then. DoubleM, how can you say that Aaron Miles couldn't be a starter if you have barely seen him play? How many actual at bats have you seen of Aaron's? How many innings defensively? I am not stating the case that he can and will be a starter, just that you profess to know everything without any firsthand knowledge. I'll take the label of fool, if it comes from someone that acts as if they know everything, when indeed it is quite the opposite.

Everett, Alomar deals
What are you smokin?? LOL

I want to know why this team........
Bobby Valentine has made this point several times this year and I think it is valid and applies here, regardless of what you think of the source. Basically, when teams play to win, they fail. They press. They try to do too much and end up doing less. They forget about doing the little things, thinking that they have to do something to win the game. On the surface, you would want your players playing to win, however a slight mental adjustment makes a difference. He said that successful teams go out, play like they know how, do all of the little things and have fun and then winning takes care of itself. If you think about it, it does make sense. If the talent is there and you take care of the small things, you don't press, thinking you have to hit a 3-run HR right now. I think the Sox were guilty of that very thing. Everybody wanted to do it themselves and make the big hit and they pressed. The more you press, the worse it gets. I think the Sox were able to just go out and have fun and play most of the time in the second half. Unfortunately, at certain times, they got away from that.

Sox
Doesn't MLB put a moratorium on trades, announcements, etc. during the playoffs?? Or is that just during the World Series??

Everett, Alomar deals
Welcome back Jim. Where ya been?

Everett, Alomar deals
The good thing about the Everett deal is that we didn't lose Pacheco. Texas was stupid for not taking him. He would have been in the Big Leagues with them this year. I think both Alomar and Everett had a positive impact, so I don't think you can look back. In the back of my mind, I still think we could have gotten the same results with just Alomar and not Everett, but obviously that is arguable and there is no way to prove it. I wouldn't count out the possibility of offering them arbitration. I think it would be risky, however, but anything could happen.
