  1. John Maine, rhp - Orioles #8 Prospect Age: 21. B-T: R-R. Ht.: 6-4. Wt.: 190. Drafted: UNC Charlotte, 2002 (6th round). Signed by: Mark Tramuta. Background: Maine was Conference USA’s 2001 pitcher of the year, but he had a disappointing junior season and fell to the sixth round, a round that has been good to the Orioles. In addition to Maine, the organization found Bedard and Eli Whiteside as sixth-rounders in the last four years. Strengths: The Orioles have brought in an intriguing group of college arms in the last few years, and Maine has the best raw stuff of the group. His fastball sits at 92-93 mph and can go higher, and he throws it with great sink. He also has a hard slider that’s a great pitch when it’s on. Weaknesses: Maine has a big, loose frame, and he runs into problems when his mechanics get out of whack. His long arm action in college worried scouts and gave him command problems, but the Orioles say they haven’t seen that from him as a pro. He needs to work on a changeup. The Future: A strong competitor with the stuff to back it up, Maine will open the season in high Class A. He could move through the organization quickly if he continues to dominate.

  5. Sox shortstop Jose Valentin hates the Cubs. He hated them when he was a Milwaukee Brewer and he hates them even more now. It's Valentin who usually yells into the TV during a Cubs came, wishing the worst for the team up North. It was Valentin who mocked Sosa's home run chest tap-and-kiss routine after hitting a homer at Wrigley Field in 2001. Valentin's spite for the Cubs runs so deep that he even feels beating them this weekend could be the spark that turns the Sox's season of underachievement around. "Hopefully, it will," Valentin said. "I think we've been playing better the last month, even though our record might not show it. This might be the series that we're waiting for and we can pick it up from there. We know that they're playing good, but they haven't played us yet." How funny would it be if Jose were traded to those very Cubs? I hate to say it, but that whole article just makes the Sox seem jealous. Doesn't shed good light on them at all, in my opinion.
  6. Well said Steff.
  7. Everytime somebody in the media says anything negative about the Sox (which "they are out of it" would qualify), 75% of this board goes nuts and calls it media bias. Now you WANT the media to say the Sox are out of it???
  8. I don't think so at all. Jose provides the Cubs insurance in case they can't get Lowell and depth if they do.
  9. SoxRule, some just don't get it. Sounded like to me that Paulie made the right comments too. If he was wrong on when he last laid down a bunt, so what. Sue him for forgetting something in 1999. Hell, I can't remember last week, let alone 4 years ago.

That's called being comfortable with your sexuality, i am indeed curious... I am very comfortable with mine..........i dont like cock. Bmr, for once, we agree.......
  22. After seeing the full video from the brawl, that was utterly ridiculous. That ball was nowhere near thrown at Wilson intenionally. If he didn't square to bunt, that ball is not close to "up and in". I know there were earlier instances in the game, but that wasn't questionable at all, in my opinion.
  23. How in the hell did you get that out of anything I posted? Because I am stupid then? How dare you! Whatever

He was taking a throw from the catcher on a stolen base..... Tried to catch and make the tag and just flat out pulled the glove away too quickly and the ball nailed him squarely in the face.
