I'm all for Rocky having success. I think the change of scenery is just what he needed.
  5. I think they should nail any dumbass that gets into a fight with a minimum of a 15-20 game suspension. If you can determine an instigator, hit him harder. Make an examople of a few of these idiots and it will stop this crap. This is baseball, not hockey!
  6. Michelle, did you notice the big game your boy Hankins had?
  7. Good thing I love on top of a hill. ;-)
  8. They tried to play small ball today, but couldn't get bunts down. They have Harris steal 2nd only to leave him stranded. You're right, they seem to find new ways to lose, while hanging on to the old ones as well.

What is horrible about the site? What are your specific gripes?
  10. Kannapolis lost game 2 6-2 also.
  11. Back-to-back doubleheaders is almost a quadrupleheader.... Birmingham has had 26" of rain since the beginning of May. That is nuts!
  12. Kanny, Winston and Bristol should all be fine to play tonight.
  13. Sure when you are losing and things aren't going smoothly like you thought they would (and Buehrle was as close to automatic as the Sox had coming in), then your mind plays all kinds of games with you. It is natural. Buehrle has pitched differently because of it. Guys play defense more passively (afraid to make a mistake) than aggressively. It can certainly have a snowball effect. Good teams find their way out of these situations, but there is no magic formula. Sometimes things turn themselves around and no one can really pinpoint how, why or when it happened. That's why baseball players tend to be the most superstitious of all athlete's because you can't always explain logically what goes on in a sport where you play 162 games.
  14. An ark? Why would we need that? We only had 18" of rain in May (3rd wettest month EVER in Birmingham) and have only added another 8" in the first 19 days of June, with more coming tonight. Paddleboats maybe, but we are still a couple of days from needing an ark. ;-)

I agree with Yas, I think the game would be better and more enjoyable if we didn't know what everyone made.
  17. He certainly showed the tools and potential while in the Minors. He just seems like a guy who never really got the chance to play full-time. Or at least not long enough to let him work through some struggles. I have never heard about attitude or clubhouse problems someone else alluded to, so I can't comment on that.
  18. Kannapolis and Bristol also rained out. Great Falls loses 16-7. No box yet.

  20. Good article....... I had heard Phillips was going to Winston.
  21. roman, just for clarification.... He was at a banquet put on for/by the St. Louis Baseball Writers, not the Cardinals. He was honored at the banquet as were several Cardinal players. His comments about playing in St. Louis were of-the-cuff remarks to people in St. Louis attending the banquet. They were not part of any press conference, they were not said directly to Cardinal management, etc. The first time I believe they were said in response to someone asking Tony LaRussa if he would like to have Mark pitch for him and LaRussa replied that he would (wouldn't you if you were a major league manager?). Mark simply replied that it would be great to play in St. Louis for the Cardinals in front of the home folks. I am paraphrasing here, but that was the gist of the comments. The 2nd year he basically responded to the same question from someone about playing for the hometown team. I wouldn't read that much into them, but I do agree that Mark could have been a little smarter by not making a similar comment (albeit harmless in his mind) for the 2nd year in a row.
  22. He is reporting to Great Falls (Advanced Rookie) on Friday.
  23. Mark Wohlers? Rick Ankiel? John Rocker? All pitchers yes, but I believe their descent was as fast as is possible.

Why don't they sell Jimenez to Korea? Ummmm ...... because they can't?
  25. I really haven't followed Encarnacion much since he has moved around a lot. But I really, really liked him when he came through the Southern League. Couldn't understand why Detroit gave up on him so quickly.
