  1. Your avatar is kind of creepy
  2. Everyone passes in the AA portion besides baltimore and the draft is now over.
  3. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 11:24 AM) More room for Beckham, Valido and Danks Valido was taken
  4. That makes 3 players from Birmingham that have been taken so far.
  5. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 11:19 AM) thats the first time I've heard talent and Valido in a few years. I wasn't referring to valido specifically, i was just saying that other teams THINK we have talent. Baltimore wouldn't have taken him if they thought he sucked.
  6. QUOTE (bschmaranz @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 11:17 AM) Man, they really are tearing dudes from us I guess other teams think we got some talent in AA
  7. Major league portion over, going to start the minor league half in a few minutes.
  8. Tampa takes Derek Rodriguez from Charlotte
  9. D-Backs took skelton (sp?) from the tigers.
  10. first pick RHP Terrell Young wil be the first overall pick in Thursday's Rule 5 draft, going to the Nationals. It doesn't necessarily mean he'll stay there, as there are usually several players taken and traded minutes later. The draft starts at noon EST. Source: Hot Stove Blog
  11. I wouldn't mind to see Chris Mason get picked up by us. His AAA numbers blow, but he straight up dominated AA and is said to be best suited for the pen, which is something we could use. Who knows, maybe Coop could work some magic on him and turn him into a viable 4th/5th starter option
  12. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Dec 10, 2008 -> 02:40 PM) We all remember where we were on 6/7/05 when a terrorist regime of scouts and cross-checkers bombed the subways of Sox fans' hearts with the selection of Lance Broadway in the first round, 15th overall, of the 2005 MLB First-Year Player Draft. Let's all take a moment to click on this link and reflect upon all those great players that were needlessly passed over. We can never go back in time and change things for the better. What is done is done. But it is time, Kenny Williams, that you trade Lance Broadway for a bag of baseballs so we can all move on. I don't want to see him on the 40-man roster anymore because whenever I do I'm reminded of how we could have had Matt Garza, Ellsbury, Buccholz, Lowrie, Bowden, Volstad, Colby Rasmus, and on and on and on, because that's just the first round. Broadway was the most horrible draft pick I can remember, because at least McCulloch was taken near the very bottom after we'd won 99 games and the WS. Broadway was fifteenth!!!! That's f***ing sick. Please Kenny, get this guy out of here already. So im guessing that you don't like that Lance is still here.
  13. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Dec 10, 2008 -> 12:12 PM) I did not know the rule 5 draft existed prior to the amatuer draft system being set up in the 60s. some quick research reveals some other near HOF'ers: urban shocker red faber hal chase hack wilson willy taveras ? or is there another Willy T that i don't know about.
  14. Don't really know how close this is to actually happening, but figured i should mention it. Mark Teixeira-1B-Angels Dec. 9 - 2:46 am et A front-office official for a team on the outside looking in at the Mark Teixeira chase said he expects the first baseman to sign with Boston. "I think he’ll sign with the Red Sox," the official said. "They want him. They have a good relationship with (agent Scott) Boras, and in the end, they have the dollars to make it happen." While the Yankees, Orioles and Nationals all met with Teixeira in D.C. last week, his supposed strongest suitors -- the Red Sox and Angels -- have yet to sit down for a face-to-face. It's unclear whether any team has made an actual offer. Source: Yahoo! Sports
  15. Why not nickname him Double D since Dickbag and Dumbo seem to be the popular choices.
  16. Cubs apparently very close to getting Peavy per rotoworld: One source close to GM Jim Hendry characterized the Cubs as "very close" to completing a deal for Jake Peavy. Cubs and Orioles sources told the Chicago Sun-Times that those two teams have agreed to a swap of Garrett Olson and Felix Pie, contingent on a Peavy deal. Olson would then go to San Diego. The Sun-Times also believes the Phillies are in the deal, but isn't sure the pieces are finalized there. Dec. 9 - 2:28 am et Source: Chicago Sun-Times
  17. QUOTE (1399 @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 02:15 PM) Stand by your words all you want but the facts are that I have been a Sox fan for over 30 years and my house is decorated with Sox stuff all over the place. If you want to judge me based on I wouldnt miss Dye then that just shows how little you really know about people and fans in general. Ummmm, no. I am just like everyone else in that I have two favorite teams, the Sox and who ever the cubs play so nice try. As for trying to piss people off. Thats not it at all. I have opinions and are entitled to them just like everyone else. Just because my opinion on this matter is different from the rest doesnt make me a cub fan or less of a Sox fan. Been watching baseball my whole life so I understand it just fine. The bottom line is Dye as well as others hurt this team badly in 08 and changes need to be made so that we dont have to suffer through another miserable season of an inconsistent offense. The Sox production 4-7 was beyond bad in 08 and if guys cannot produce then we need to get rid of them and find players that can hit better then what we have. I saw the 4-7 hitters leave way too many guys on base last year and like most Sox fans Im sick of it. I do agree that first and foremost Paulie should be the one to go first but what team wants a guy that cannot hit for average, drive runners in or hit the long ball with any consistency all the while making 12M per year? No GM in their right mind would take that chance, not even that bafoon Hendry who is pretty dumb. You guys dont like my "trash" comment and thats fine but to call me a cubs fan or to say Im not really a Sox fan just shows the mentality of people here. Im here to talk Sox baseball and trust me, I have better things to do than go around randomly pissing people off. If I were I would be attacking people personally but Im not. Rememeber that you guys are the ones that are offended at what Ive said about Dye. It's not like I attacked you guys. For the record. Out of Thome, Paulie and Dye, Dye is the one I would want to keep most but since he actually has some trade value he is the most likely to be traded if any of the three were to go. Anyway, this is all a moot point now anyway since the deal looks like it never was a deal in the first place. You flat out said that he WON'T be missed. You were trying to speak for the majority while you are in the minority on this particular subject.
  18. QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 01:29 PM) Corey Patterson is basically a black Brian Anderson IMO. Corey is faster and can bunt better, but i do see how BA and him are comparable.
