  1. QUOTE(JFields27 @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 02:39 PM) Is this Soxtalk or Indianstalk? im getting confused with how negative everyone is already getting, sheesh. how about OCab and Thome get on(cuz hes not going to see a single fastball in his at bat) and then Konerko cranks it I think we deserve the right to be negative after that piss-poor 2nd inning.
  2. QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 02:34 PM) I do. And this still seems worse to me. If I recall, Jose started last season, no? You would be correct.
  3. QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 02:31 PM) Our ace getting pounded and taken out in the second inning to start the freaking season. This is worse than any recent memory I have of this team. Then you forgot about opening day last year rather quickly .
  4. This is looking like it's going to be a long, long season if today is an indicator of how we'll play.
  5. QUOTE(rangercal @ Mar 29, 2008 -> 12:57 AM) Best Trades Ryan Meax for the Game winning home run of game 3 of the 2005 World Series.. I Mean... Geoff Blum. Thornton for Borchard Billy Koch for Wilson Valdez Kenny Lofton for Felix Diaz and Ryan Meax(see first trade listed) Fordyce and a couple prospects to the orioles for Harold Baines and Charles Johnson. was the billy koch trade good because we got rid of him? cause valdez is a AAAA player at his VERY BEST.
  6. QUOTE(JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 22, 2008 -> 02:21 PM) Jew-Power!! I think Poreda sounds great and all, but I didn't like reading that he says he wants to throw 70-90% Fastballs, and his secondary pitches are "good enough". I don't think he will be able to survive on 70-90% fastballs in the majors. Big league players can smash fastballs, he needs at least 1 more great pitch before I can see him doing anything in the majors. Bartolo Colon only used his fastball back in his hay-day, and i think that he was pretty successful.
  7. I'm in. I believe i was in league 5 last season (the roto league). Not to be pushy, but i would prefer to be in a H2H this year if its possible. Thanks Zoom
  8. QUOTE(shipps @ Jan 23, 2008 -> 05:30 PM) Why is Juan Uribe killing chickens? I thought that was KW.
  9. I like that logo a lot. It's different.
  10. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jan 3, 2008 -> 04:48 PM) Yeah it does, but the minor league system doesn't win championships. It might be sexy to have a deep farm system, but very few teams have won with that alone. You can either use the farm system to groom players, or you can use them as trading assets. Obviously KW went the latter route. Also, the Sox now have veterans to flip at the trading deadline if things don't work out. I know it doesn't win championships, but it would be nice for once to have a good legit prospect who doesn't get traded AND pans out, which i believe in my own opinion that DLS or Gio could have done. Sweeny too, just not as much confidence.
  11. Our terrible minor league system just got a hell of a lot worse today thanks to this.
  12. QUOTE(JohnCangelosi @ Jan 1, 2008 -> 03:17 PM) <!--quoteo(post=1554308:date=Jan 1, 2008 -> 02:41 PM:name=TheBigHurt)-->QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Jan 1, 2008 -> 02:41 PM) <!--quotec-->I need to see a video of Konerko's slam from the WS. That gives me chills every time. Of course winning the WS was the best moment of the season, but for me Konerko's slam was the most exciting moment in my life as a Sox fan. Just hit the link on my signature!!!! I remember that like it was yesterday. Being there in a cold and rainy october night and at that moment the stadium was full of energy. What a great year.
  13. QUOTE(greg775 @ Dec 27, 2007 -> 10:24 PM) Am I wrong in thinking we should have signed Miguel and dumped our current backup catcher? I like Olivo. Can't hit RHP i believe, but i wouldn't have minded if we signed him. Yeah he can't hit RHP, i was right. TEAM G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI TB BB SO SB CS OBP SLG AVG vs Left-handed Pitcher Florida Marlins 49 95 7 28 8 1 2 13 44 7 23 2 0 .343 .463 .295 vs Right-handed Pitcher Florida Marlins 114 357 36 79 12 3 14 47 139 7 100 1 2 .240 .389 .221
  14. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Dec 23, 2007 -> 02:50 PM) This is the same KW who put the pieces together to win the world series in 05, which included getting rid of Clee/Maggz. Than the following off-season was able to add a guy like Thome and Vazquez which should have made us better and many thought he was one of the better GM's in the league at the time. Now.... because players didnt perform its the GM's fault? I stand by KW till the end, I think he is still better than a lot of other guys out there. A blind squirrell finds a nut every once and a while, so i wouldn't totally base 05 on kW's brains. I would say that lady luck had something to do with it too.
  15. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 19, 2007 -> 10:33 AM) Let's hope not. That would be just about stupid. I don't think it will happen. I don't think Ozzie was too happy with Juanny the Tazmanian Devil by the end of last year. Ozzie kept finding ways to put in GrindERSTAD last year, so don't underestimate his ability to play crap players on a daily basis.
  16. QUOTE(gosox41 @ Dec 17, 2007 -> 10:38 PM) I remember hearing Hahn in an interview a few years ago when Honel was healthy, probably in 2003. He said he was a younger Mark Prior. He was right. Both guys are constantly hurt. Bob Prior actually made to to the majors, and had some success. While Honel never made it past AA. Other than that, including the injuries, they are similar.
  17. What do we have to lose by signing Prior? I would be all for the move if it was a 1 year deal, maybe with an option for another year.
  18. Akinori Otsuka-R-Rangers Dec. 13 - 12:29 am et Rangers non-tendered RHP Akinori Otsuka and outfielder Nick Gorneault. The Rangers are setting Otsuka free even though the reports back from his rehabilitation have been positive. With the way the relief market has blown up, it would have been worth the risk to pay Otsuka $4 million, especially since they still would have had him under control for 2009. This makes C.J. Wilson the current favorite to close for the Rangers, though the team figures to consider Octavio Dotel and maybe a couple of other options. Related: Nick Gorneault, C.J. Wilson I heard last year that we were interested in aquiring him, so do any of you think that there is a chance we go after him for some additional pen help?
  19. Paul Lo Duca signed with the Nats today.
