  1. For next season it doesnt seem like this team is going anywhere fast besides the toilet, so i say give Oney a shot!
  2. It baisically looks like our league went to sh**. There are now only 4 teams.
  3. QUOTE(BearSox @ Sep 2, 2007 -> 07:16 PM) will Fields see any playing time in September now since the great lord Scott Podsednik is back? No, because they need to keep the hot hitting Andy Gonzalez in and GrindErstad also has to play everyday too.
  4. QUOTE(bmags @ Sep 2, 2007 -> 03:40 PM) a -5% chance of winning...hizzah. wow. Didn't see this coming. If I was cleveland I'd be embarassed. Hey, don't be dissin' my prediction, at the time it was a good number with the kind of baseball (if thats what you wanna call it) has been putting out their on the field everyday. But maybe i should have done more of that earlier in the season so we might have been able to win a couple of games.
  5. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Sep 2, 2007 -> 11:30 AM) Look at this lineup: Owens CF Podsednik LF Thome DH Konerko 1B Erstad RF Pierzynski C Gonzalez 3B Richar 2B Uribe SS This is just hilarious; and to be honest, I couldn't be happier. With Contreras pitching the probability of winning this game has to be at -5% for the White Sox. There i fixed it for you. Let's just get this miserable season over with.
  6. As of now we have a grand total of 5 people in the league, with the draft set for tomorrow at 8 45.......i think we need more/new people and definantly a different draft date and time.
  7. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 1, 2007 -> 11:09 PM) This year has left me with so much more time than I had back in 05. I went out and bought a new tent today! Really, you bought a new tent. Is this teams suckiness that bad to make you go campout away from all civilization and technology, so you don't have to hear/see/read/know/expect how bad our team got beat that day.
  8. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Aug 31, 2007 -> 04:33 PM) Part of it does seem like a "make good" because of the Garcia deal. Willie Harris...Richar...we've seen this before w/ Durham and Iguchi, and Ray was a better player (but even more expensive, albeit not as old as Tad). If we kept those two guys and we 10 games under .500, how would we be in any better shape? They'd still be gone in the offseason...our team would still be aging and getting WORSE from a fielding perspective...and Rob M. would still be a 4th/5th outfielder type. Nothing more, nothing less. We saw what happened in 2006 when he was an everyday player. As much as we might like Ozuna, Rob M. or Ross Gload, they are utility players for a reason...although 99% of Sox fans would take Pablo back at this point over Andy Gonzalez! So are you saying that you are in that 99%, or the other 1%? Because I personally would rather have Pablo than Andy because at least Pablo showed that he could hit ML pitching once. And on a side note, who did the O's even get for Trachsel?
  9. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Aug 31, 2007 -> 01:32 PM) let's get a win..................please? I am curious as to why you want to have them get a win. I mean, sure, its nice to win every now and then, but if we are going to suck THIS bad, we might as well just lose every game and try to lock up that spot for the #1 overall draft pick. We would at least be beating some team in something out of that.
  10. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 31, 2007 -> 02:05 AM) Therefore, based upon your limited research, our best bet of obtaining a player capable of providing 3000 ABs is to have the first overall selection. Only one way to do that.... From the looks of our play as of late, i think we should have that #1 pick almost locked in if tampa just wins about 5-9 more games.
  11. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 31, 2007 -> 01:52 PM) Pedro Alvarez. That would be nice, though i wouldn't mind Harold Martinez either.
  12. Did we lose yet? I was flippin through channels and saw we were losing like a half hour ago. I figured we would have sucked enough to be done already.
  13. QUOTE(29andPoplar @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 04:05 PM) Great, glad you feel better. Go out and buy his jersey and maybe check Ebay for his baseball cards and send him a self addressed envelope for his autograph then light some candles and light the fireplace and have a glass of wine, maybe you'll feel all warm and fuzzy inside. A little harsh there, don't ya think?
  14. I really don't even care anymore.....Can't Wait Till '08! thats my new motto for the rest of the year.
  15. I never liked the WSOP, but that's pretty cool.
  16. QUOTE(shoota @ Aug 17, 2007 -> 02:01 AM) As I posted before, this is why we need to bring back home economics to schools. Without it, our youth will blur the gender lines and this is the result. Soon girls will not be pressured to stay thin like their favorite movie stars and then guys won't want to bone them. No procreation leads to extinction, so for the benefit of the human race, bring back home economics. I'm guessing that you are pretty familiar with the term chivalry......But anyways, did anyone click on the picture of her. I did on accident and i was like DAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMNNNNN big ol' girl.
  17. This poor guy seemed like he had a lot of inner demons that he was dealing with. RIP.
  18. QUOTE(BearSox @ Aug 22, 2007 -> 01:28 AM) he'll probably be used as Wood's backup at 3B and as a backup 1B. Plus, he provides good pop from the leftside of the plate from off the bench. I'd gladly take him on our BENCH. But ya see, that's the problem. A lot of players that would be good on our bench if we had them probably wouldn't see too much time there because of Oz and KW, and they would end up spending a lot more time on the DL than they would on the active roster.
  19. I'm in. And BTW, i really dont care when the draft is and don't mind the date and time that it is now.
  20. Kyle got called up to Birmingham. stats so far W L ERA G GS CG SHO SV IP H R ER HR BB SO GO/AO AVG 1 0 4.91 2 2 0 0 0 11.0 12 8 6 1 4 4 1.64 .279
  21. i am in again, though i dont remember what league i was in.
  22. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 10, 2007 -> 11:56 PM) I was perusing through the Cubs farm system and Donald Veal is a guy I would love. I don't know if the Cubs have soured on him enough (he's got a bad era, but very good periphs) and the Sox really loved this guy (drafted him before, but he opted to go to college...tremendously talented lefty). Problem is its Pods we are giving up. However, I still say Pods is a great fit for the Cubs and its not like Veal is a top 5 or 10 prospect (at least not right now....he has the ability to do so though). I'd clearly take a Ronny Cedeno or Murton (neither will get through waivers...remember they have to clear all the NL teams first and there is no way there isn't a team in the NL to go after one of those guys). Or do you take a chance on a guy like Ryan Harvey (been horrid in the minors, but was talented enough to be the 6th overall draft pick 3 or 4 years ago...unfortunately he pretty much missed his first two seasons so he still hasn't gotten past A ball. I believe/thought/heard that Veal is one of the Cubs top pitching prospects, but i am not 100% sure on it. I think that that is a pretty steep price for 1/2 of Glass Brothers Inc. But i wouldn't have a problem with that trade at all.
  23. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 6, 2007 -> 01:28 PM) Possibly. They could also be quite mediocre, in theory. Try to show a little bit of optimism ya Debbie Downer.
  24. QUOTE(BigEdWalsh @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 02:14 AM) It's not like it was a bad pick. Honel's problem was injuries. He was once very highly regarded. Kinda sad, considering his potential and his relatively young age. I was going for a stab at Duane Schaffer.
  25. QUOTE(ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 08:33 AM) Ya because he was horrible before his injuries and our scouts should have known he'd get injured. Its one thing to blame scouts for bad picks that flame out, but not for players who show actual promis but get taken down by unforseen injuries (i.e Rauch, Honel, Wing, Stumm). Blaming scouts for Honel being a "bad first round pick" is just dumb Considering i was 11 when the sox drafted him and i had no idea who he was, how good he was/once was until i came onto this board 2 years ago, WHEN he was having his injury problems. All i was trying to say was that this was another wasted 1st round pick. Regardless if he was good or it was a very solid pick at the time, now its a wasted 1st round pick, which was all i was trying to point out. Every pick that you mentioned up there was by DS, so i was pointing out that he was picked by him too, and all of the picks you mentioned havent done anything for us ever (besides Rauch because he got us jurassic for the second time) are all wasted picks because they never ever helped out the major league club, which is an effect from bad scouting (DS) and unlucky injuries.
