QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 2, 2007 -> 07:23 PM) More like a five cent question. What would suggests to you or anyone else that Erstad is capable of contributing to any major leauge ballclub when he's incapable of remaining on the field? Enough of Erstad. Enough of Podsednik. I don't want either on this ballclub next season in any capacity. Dukes for BA straight up during the winter meetings. Swap both unwanted OFers. I actually wouln't mind this at all, except for the fact that dukes is around the mike tyson crazy level in my book. -
QUOTE(bulokis @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 11:20 PM) there's a snippet on the tribune article saying Honel informed the sox he is retiring, so its true. Look at what that good use of a first round pick got us.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 05:07 PM) Welcome to your 2008 Chicago White Sox - you know, the ones who sucked in 2007 also. fixed

QUOTE(SoxFan77 @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 03:34 PM) If weeks you meant Steps.. then I agree with you. I know, three weeks is pushing it a lot, but i wanted to give the master grinder at least a little longer than his prior return of a half inning.

QUOTE(BearSox @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 03:15 PM) I fully expect to see Erstad activated today. I subscribe to those white sox text messages and it sent me one that said that grindERSTAD got activated today. What does everyone think the timetable for his return to the DL is? I'll give him 3 weeks.

The entire MLB. -
QUOTE(TheOcho @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 03:02 PM) And there goes the Sox's best looking guy. There is always Garland to take over that role.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 06:21 PM) Why on Earth does he get a nickname? He's not good enough to have earned a bad nickname yet. I was to lazy to type out his entire name.

Gustavo Molina-C-Orioles Jul. 30 - 5:16 pm et Orioles claimed catcher Gustavo Molina off waivers from the White Sox. Molina, 25, opened the year as Toby Hall's replacement in Chicago and went 1-for-18 while backing up A.J. Pierzynski. He was hitting .209/.265/.281 in 139 at-bats for Triple-A Charlotte. He's a quality defender, but he'd make Orioles fans yearn for Paul Bako if he took over as the team's No. 2 catcher next year. He'll be assigned to Triple-A Norfolk.

QUOTE(AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 02:06 PM) Jermaine Dye-OF-White Sox Jul. 30 - 2:35 pm et The Boston Globe's Gordon Edes says the Red Sox will not part with either Manny Delcarmen or Justin Masterson along with Wily Mo Pena for Jermaine Dye. Then they're probably not going to get a deal done. Edes says the Red Sox won't give up the young pitcher for a rent-a-player, but it's not just Dye -- it's also the draft picks he'd bring. Masterson was a second-round pick in 2006. The Red Sox would get at least one pick better than that next year if they brought in Dye now and then let him go as a free agent. A little late, go back a page.

I didn't see this anywhere, but if it was posted, my bad. per rotoworld: Jermaine Dye-OF-White Sox Jul. 30 - 2:35 pm et The Boston Globe's Gordon Edes says the Red Sox will not part with either Manny Delcarmen or Justin Masterson along with Wily Mo Pena for Jermaine Dye. QUOTE(Sonik22 @ Jul 28, 2007 -> 11:44 PM) I like watching Owens a lot more than Erstad. I second that.

QUOTE(earthshiner @ Jul 29, 2007 -> 03:26 PM) I'd only keep him around for '08 as a backup OF/1B. No way he'd be an everyday starter. That's what he was susposed to do this year, but look how that worked out for us.

QUOTE(OilCan @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 08:31 PM) Sorry guys, day late on this.......... Of course since my absence, Nevin has signed with the Pale Hose. Article in the St. Petersburg Times: dtd 7/26/07: There's rarely a day off from the diamond By JOEY KNIGHT Published July 26, 2007 ADVERTISEMENT Sports News Video TAMPA - The Bristol Va. White Sox have spent three weeks preparing Nevin Griffith for his first professional pitching appearance, but needed far less time to thrust him into full-fledged adulthood. "They gave me four days to find my own place to live," said Griffith, the former Middleton right-hander taken by the Sox with the 89th overall pick in last month's Major League Baseball first-year player draft. "I got a one-bedroom apartment. I could have a roommate but I was like, 'Nah, I'll just live by myself.' " Since signing with the Sox on July 3 and reporting to Bristol - the club's rookie-league affiliate - two days later, Griffith has been conditioning his body and acclimating his mind toward the daily toil of pro baseball. Though he says he is not slated for his first game appearance until this weekend, Griffith arrives at DeVault Memorial Stadium - Bristol's home field - daily at around 11:15 a.m. for a full day of baseball. He throws around 45 pitches every other day in bullpen sessions, but lifts weights and shags batting-practice balls daily and is in the dugout every night. Bristol has played eight games in the past seven days and doesn't have a regularly-scheduled day off until Aug. 2. "We play for two weeks straight and then we have two days off," said Griffith, who lives about 10 blocks from the ballpark. "It's hard. Playing every day is something that's totally new." Any spark he can inject into the Sox's staff will be welcome at this point. Bristol (10-23) ranks eighth in the nine-team Appalachian League with a 5.70 team ERA. "I'm doing good," Griffith said. "I haven't pitched yet because they want to take it slow with me; after the draft I took some time off before I signed. ...Everything's going pretty good." Joey Knight can be reached at (813) 226-3350 or [email protected]. Well this is good to know, i thought that he gotten/been hurt somehow.

QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Jul 23, 2007 -> 04:11 PM) Cuz Im a diehard and they arent as bad as the Blackhawks and I watch them too Well thats for sure, though the hawks are looking a little less sucky this year and actually have me interested because they are going to play toews sp? and kane. But besides the blackhawks, the reason i still watch the sox is because i have to stick with my team, no matter how bad they are to watch. I know they suck, i can admit it and am fine with it because i accept the fact that we most likely will not win 75+ games this year. They are still my team and i am a diehard and i gotta stick with them, no matter what.

I saw him down in ST this year, and this kid is basically a twig. From what i remember about him, he seemed to have a decent arm from the outfield but i think he still needs to grow into his body a little bit.

QUOTE(southsida86 @ Jul 19, 2007 -> 06:49 PM) Why hasn't Griffith pitched in the minors yet? It's been 2 weeks since he signed. That's what i have been trying to figure out. I was wondering if anyone else knew why.
