  1. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 02:00 PM) I misspoke earlier. Brian is hitting only .346 this month. he's coming around. That's all that matters.
  2. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 01:58 PM) Lots of (dissapointed) Sox fans in New York. giving up? I'm surprised. Oh yeah. You were part of the choke avi crew last year.
  3. Mike Mussina: I fear we have awoken a sleeping Giant.
  4. QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 01:50 PM) Two college girls just roller bladed buy in hot pants and tube tops. I feel a tad better. don't forget to wash your hands.
  5. 84 users still in this thread. At least I'm not alone. I won't give up. Of course there are a few bad apples who I think almost love losing games like this, so they can have a reason to b**** for the next couple hours.
  6. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 01:29 PM) So Ozzie can go to the bullpen in the 5th after it's already 4-0? no, so the pressure gets off of the rotation a bit. after a couple months of a deeper pen, the overall pitching of the Sox would be a lot more dangerous.
  7. QUOTE(SadChiSoxFanOptimist @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 01:27 PM) I'm with you...he's slow and hittable. Getting consistently RIPPED. Pitching like a Pony Leaguer. Think the Cards still want him? After his 3-10 start in 2003 I was a little worried. He came back to go 14-14 after that, I will never give up on MB.
  8. QUOTE(atrain081 @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 01:26 PM) it just looks like our starters are tired out there. i wouldn't mind trying a six man rotation for a little bit and see if that doesn't help any A deeper pen would be a better option
  9. This game is still far from over boys. Our team has played with pride all year. I'm not about to give up now.
  10. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 01:19 PM) When does 2 runs = 5 or 7? it's at 4 right now
  11. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 01:17 PM) Smallball being executed by the Yanks. Ozzie will overmanage now, and try to bunt to match torre. you cried all year in 2005. I think we did all right that year.
  12. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 02:28 AM) Alomar now...Stewart in September (get his feet wet, plus a 3rd catcher gives Ozz some flexibility) and than turn things over to Stewart next year with Alomar hopefully retiring with a Sox world series ring I would be all for that. whatever gets widge OUT.
  13. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 02:22 AM) Don't let that avg fool you, although Stewart has made a ton of strides as of late at the minor league level, but he's still not what you'd consider an offensive catcher nor do I think he'd hit more than .250 at the major league level (especially not right away) but he's made strides, works hard, and would be our best catcher defensively (in terms of blocking the plate and throwing runners out; AJ would be the best at working with the pitchers). I know. I was just kidding. The man is 40. I think he will have to start duct taping his knee joints together soon. But would not mind him. He can call a good game.
  14. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 02:17 AM) Chris Stewart is a decent option, but he is unfamiliar with our starters so it would be odd to call him up. Plus you don't exactly expect a rookie to come up and call a tremendous game, although is very good defensively and I think he'll be our new backup catcher at the end of the season. Also, Sandy Alomar may be waived by the Dodgers in the coming days. Thats another option and I always felt he called a decent game, but he's not much of a hitter anymore and can't throw out a runner to save his life. he is hitting .339
  15. 7-13 when widger starts 50-19 when aj starts
  16. QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jul 14, 2006 -> 12:10 AM) great read. I wish the Chicago media was as good as the Times. I wish the chicago media could be as classy. Great read.
  17. I would be all for bringing Hunter in. We can't afford anderson batting close to .150 in the postseason. Can you imagine bases Juiced with anderson coming up? We would all not want to watch. Hunter is not a downgrade on D and a HUGE upgrade on Offense. I would trust him more in clutch situations. There may be a period where our offense goes cold in September/October ( like 2000, 2003) and we have to rely on players like anderson. I would rather rely on Hunter. If this is the difference between winning it all or falling short. I am all for making the move. and the money part. Who cares? Is it our money? I would not be surprised to see ownership pay an extra 10 million to have a better shot at a dynasty. It would be a business move. That's what the Whte Sox chairmen and board of directors do first, business.
  18. I would rather not trade with the # 1 contender in the national league. Imagine if we gave Houston Contreras last year? Not saying he was rumored to go there. But, their were rumors he was out the door. That's why I dont pay much attention to trade winds like I did last year.
  19. QUOTE(MSHAWKS @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 09:54 PM) With all due respect, why do you assume Anderson has a higher ceiling than Rowand. Because Hawk tells us he does? Because Kenny Williams tells us he does? Because he had a decent year in the minors in 2005? Road sides from here to Cooperstown are strewn with the corpses of failed young players that baseball GM's have assured would be impact players. What makes you think Anderson won't join them? I'm willing to concede that the real Brian Anderson might not be a .192 hitter. But I'm also willing to concede that he may be. I agree! Rowands defense may be overrated. But it is not as overrated as Andersons ceiling among soxtalk regulars.
