  2. we made the suntimes http://www.suntimes.com/sports/quickhits/2...-1hit30.article FLORIDA OR BUS: Definitely a long road to the Super Bowl The drive to get to the Super Bowl has paid off for the Bears. For others, it has yet to get in gear. Chicagoan AJ Barthold is behind something called the ''Super Bowl Shuttle.'' It's a bus trip for Bears fans (departing from Chicago) and Colts fans (departing from Indianapolis). An Internet site, sellchamp.com, has the particulars on the $150 bus ride that does not include lodging or tickets to Super Bowl XLI in Miami. The plan is for the 55 fans on each bus to stay at a campground. ''My cousin, John Skupien, and I made a pact at Thanksgiving when he was home for break from the University of Indianapolis that if the Bears made it to the Super Bowl, we were going to Miami no matter what,'' Barthold told Quick Hits on Monday. ''We didn't know how we would get down there, but we knew if the Bears made it, we would have to go. After they won the NFC title game, I came up with the idea to look for a ride share to Miami for us. Then, I just got the idea that a lot of other people must be going through the same thing and need a ride down as well, so I started looking into renting out a bus and filling it with Bears fans. The idea took off from there.'' Barthold, 25, also plans to film a documentary about the journey. ''Our main goal is to capture the passion and the moment as well as the uniqueness of strangers coming together on a bus trip to Miami to be at the Super Bowl to help represent our favorite team,'' he said. ''I am a diehard White Sox fan and John is a diehard Cubs fan, but we can always unite and agree to cheer for the Bears.'' and the south town http://www.dailysouthtown.com/news/234976,301NWS4.article Get on the Super Bowl bus January 30, 2007 A pair of Chicago cousins are organizing a bus trip they're calling a Bears fan's dream -- that is for Bears fans without Super Bowl tickets. Cousins A.J. Barthold and John Skupien are chartering buses to take fans to Miami, where they will camp out in a campground in the city. For $150, a Bears fan will secure a spot on the charter bus leaving near O'Hare International Airport on Friday evening and arriving in Miami the next day. The bus is equipped with televisions and bathrooms and revelers can BYOB onboard. On Super Bowl Sunday, the Bears faithful will raid local sports bars and other hot spots. The camp site will cost $10-a-night, while tents will cost an additional $20-a-day for the three-day trip. "It's not like camping out in Chicago or the Midwest," Barthold said. "Why not when your going to be in the same city as the Bears? We have to come in full force and support Chicago." The men hope that Chicago area fans show as much interest as Indianapolis Colts fans, who packed a bus after news of the trip made the local papers there. Anyone interested in attending can get information on the Web site www.sellchamp.com or by calling (773) 501-5021. William Lee We also made the Daily herald and I am about to get a call from the LOOP for an interview.
  3. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jan 28, 2007 -> 04:52 PM) That's a bad ass idea you've got there. Congrats! and best wishes! Thanks! It's been a fun project so far, my love for the Bears,White Sox and Bulls meets no boundaries. LOL! Btw, We just added camping to our idea. The overwhelming response of potential riders wanting to go , but no place to stay, has been resolved.

  9. I will have to agree with Pedro Lopez. Interesting notes: Called up 3 days after his 21st Bday for the 2005 White Sox. ( has a World Series Ring)
  10. happy bday 3e8 and ChWRoCk2
  11. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 14, 2006 -> 05:13 PM) wow, the yankees would be getting hosed on that deal. Their top pitching spec, one of the best players in baseball, and a serviceable OF for a pretty good starter, a good defensive 3B with back problems and a nothing prospect. everyone from dpbl knows that hughes will have a 25-4 record come 2014. I think it's a good deal for the sox.
  12. QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Dec 13, 2006 -> 06:09 PM) Ironic since Young is white. he probably got confused with Vince Young when he used to play for Texas.
  13. QUOTE(StatManDu @ Dec 13, 2006 -> 12:24 PM) If the Sox get rid of Garland, they will be separating themselves from a player who accomplished one of the obscure rarities in club history. Garland is one of just six players in White Sox history whose only hit of the season was a home run. http://journals.aol.com/dmarran359/Soxalmanac/ Here's a breakdown: ONLY HIT OF THE SEASON A HOMER Player Date Foe (Pitcher) Men on Jon Garland* June 18, 2006 At Cincinnati (Yan) 2-run Notes— Second at bat and fourth plate appearance of the game and season… Came with two outs and Rob Mackowiak on base. … Gave the Sox a 6-0 lead in an 8-1 win. … Finished the season with five at bats … Third career hit and first career extra-base hit. … First homer by a Sox pitcher since Steve Kealey on Sept. 6, 1971. … First homer by a Sox pitcher in a road game since Gary Peters on Aug. 2 1969 at Detroit. … First home run by a Sox pitcher in a National League park since Juan Pizarro at Dodger Stadium (vs. Angels) on May 8, 1964. … First Sox pitcher to homer in his own victory since Danny Murphy homered and got the win in relief in the second game of a doubleheader against the Minnesota Twins at Comiskey Park on June 28, 1970. …First Sox starting pitcher to homer in his own victory since Peters on Aug. 2, 1969 at Detroit.f Nelson Santovenia July 11, 1992 At Boston (Dopson) 2-run Notes—First at bat with the White Sox. … Joey Cora was on first with a single. … Sox lost the game 11-2. … Last of his 21 career homers and the second-to-last hit of the veteran catcher’s career. Keep them coming.
  14. QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 12, 2006 -> 02:32 PM) I'll put it bluntly. It's the mark of the beast. I will never voluntarily allow that to happen to me. I'll die first. Period. I'm right with you
  15. WOW! That much for a pitcher in the NL with a 4.58 era?!!?!?! Not only that, he is 35! He can break down before the deal is even over. At least with Meche, you don't know if he hit his ceiling yet. Awful deal. Stand pat with FA's Kenny!
  16. QUOTE(T R U @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 03:19 PM) I would be all over this move, Bonds is the greatest player to ever play the game and to have him break the HR record as a White Sock would be awesome.. I am really hoping we sign him I second that.

  18. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Nov 17, 2006 -> 10:45 AM) Levine is always wrong, move on. Yeah, Bruuuuuuce has let me down many times. I can't really recall him being right too often. He seems to have a 10% accuracy ratio going on.
  19. QUOTE(whitesox1976 @ Nov 18, 2006 -> 08:09 PM) I thought Frank Thomas was going to end his carrier in Oakland. Anyhow I wish the big hurt the best except when he plays the Sox. Why would he want to end his carrier? I heard he has verizon, from what I hear they have an outstanding network.
  20. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 18, 2006 -> 10:53 PM) Well you have to remember that KW has actually traded away a lot of our prospects for the likes of Jim Thome and Javier Vazquez. But I think KW has found out the value of good young pitching, because of the price you have to pay in Free Agency to actually get quality starting pitching there. Hence why he is interested in trading for Danks, Masset and possibly Hurley, because they're young, cheap and under our control for 6 seasons. We don't want to be a team that basically goes all out for a World Series, and then drops back down the division because we don't have enough young players being worked into the mix, especially if you have the likes of Dye, Garcia, Iguchi and Buehrle leaving in the next off-season. I am very excited with KW's new way of thinking. It would be nice to secure our rotation for years with the right deal. Or,we could pull a baltimore and trade garland for an aging vet.
  21. I don't want to see cora go.
  22. Bumped for MVP candidate Frank Thomas
  23. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Sep 19, 2006 -> 01:19 PM) There IS NO 9-11 CONSPIRACY!!!! THE GOVERNMENT DIDN'T DYNAMITE THE TWIN TOWERS THE PENTAGON WAS HIT BY A PLANE NOT A MISSILE THE AIR FORCE DID NOT TAKE DOWN FLIGHT 93 That is all. Why is it so hard for some people to accept these facts? Do you know for sure? Nobody on this board really knows. We only know what we are told.
