Vasquez is the dark horse of the deal and may turn out to be the best arm.

1968 is by far the best jersey from what you showed us.

Visit the beautiful southside of Chicago

QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ Mar 9, 2007 -> 01:18 PM) "Will I get cell reception on the (big bad poor black) southside"? What's next, "will I get robbed"? Worst marketing campaign of all time. I agree , this campaign sucks the big one. People who are not familiar with the southside may not even sense the sarcasm and just see it as a dorky ad. They are capable of a much better marketing campaign. -

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Mar 2, 2007 -> 04:10 AM) Portis though is the actually only RB that was more than just a product than Denvers system, he is a top tier RB in the league just has had some injury problems slowing him down in Washington. I agree, Portis and don't forget T Davis ( if you want to go back that far) are legit Top Rbs that were great no matter what. I just can't say the same for Bell. I thought detroit would have learned after the Olandis Gary experiment they received from Denver. -
QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 2, 2007 -> 04:45 PM) Are you looking forward to the Buehrle bashfest as much as I am after he leaves. LOL! yes I am looking forward to it! It sure beats bashing them while they wear a white sox uniform ( which is where you come in)

Millen with another bonehead move. Does he not get it? Denver can make their water boy a 1,000 yard rusher. Just like the portis-baily deal, good job Denver. I can almost guarantee they will still be in the top half of rushing offenses in 2007. -
The sport where coaches make the biggest difference is?

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Mar 1, 2007 -> 05:40 PM) I also agree that it's football. The playcalling, the 4th downs, the 2 point conversions, etc. no, I have to disagree with you. I would say it is easily soccer. -

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Mar 1, 2007 -> 12:58 AM) yes, tricep not bicep. Hey, what's one cep more or less between friends? And this whole thread has gotten rather silly. To Rowand and everybody else on the opposite side of thinking here, I believe the original comment that set this all off was J4Life innocently saying "I hope he gets [#500] against us" Then all of the silly scenario playing came out, with Rowand saying "no you don't" and others saying 'well what if it resulted in a loss that cost us a playoff berth?'. . . yada yada. . . Focking-A. No, there isn't anybody on this site that cheers over a Sox loss, or puts a former player ahead of the current team. But get some perspective. It's going to touch a lot of us to see Frank get #500, and if it happened at the Cell where thousands of lifelong Sox fans who grew up watching the man play could feel they were a part of it, that seems kinda cool to me. But for the record, I promise I only want to see it happen if: A ) it doesn't cost us the game, or B ) it costs us the game but doesn't affect the standings and/or C ) it doesn't eliminate our playoff chances or D ) it doesn't occur in post-season competition or E ) it doesn't result in so much excessive cheering that it shakes the rivets out of the stadium and we all fall to our untimely deaths Given all of those conditions, yes, it would be cool to be there if it happened in Chicago. My Cousin talks about seeing Denny McLain pitch at Comiskey in April of 1968, beating us in the second game of a double-header in a year where the Sox didn't win their first game until almost the end of that month. He doesn't dwell on the fact that the Sox lost the game (and they did that 95 times that year). Instead he talks about being there to see a pitcher who grew up on the South Side and went to Mt. Carmel win one game during his historic 31-win season. That's a pretty cool memory to have. If I was lucky enough to see Frank hit #500 at the Cell – even with a (*gasp*) Sox loss (so long as it didn't knock us out of playoff contention or somehow otherwise instantaneously cause us to lose every game for the rest of eternity) then, yeah, I think in 20 years I'd remember being at the game where Frank Thomas cemented his spot as a first-ballot HOFer a bit more than the fact that we dropped a game to the Blue Jays that day. well said. I agree 100%

QUOTE(fathom @ Feb 28, 2007 -> 02:01 PM) I agree with you 100 percent. This is close to being as bad as people that say "oh well, I'm not mad that he hit a walkoff homer, at least (insert player's name) is on my fantasy team". I hated Timo Perez, but I still rooted for him because he was on the White Sox. On the other hand, I would never root for a player against the White Sox. yup, fantasy team player compared to greatest player in white sox history. Good comparison.

QUOTE(shoota @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 11:51 PM) Yeah you have, in the '01 season. Many of Thomas's teammates wanted a veteran to speak out against Thomas, and David Wells obliged. Link?

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Feb 26, 2007 -> 07:14 AM) I want Frank for it to be against us too, even if its a game deciding run.... its just 1 game and Frank can have 1 game to hit the milestone in my opinion. I'd have to agree.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 16, 2007 -> 11:13 AM) Translation: I need some money. I doubt it. He's willing to sign a 10 day contract, that type of money is equal to what he can make on the side just for being who he is.

Miss baseball in the offseason? - Think you're better than KW?

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Feb 9, 2007 -> 12:09 PM) I don't see a reason to break it up either. The insane draft classes are going to help level the playing field, etc. etc. We've gotten to a point where most of the league is fictional players, yet we are all referring to them as if they do in fact exist. Harvey Alden, Alvin Brinson, Richard Kane, and David Candelas are DPBL household names. heh. as silly as it sounds. I would not be against getting a pedro lopez jersey because of DPBL lol -

as much effort as we put into this league (especially knightni) We should go as long as we can. Personally I would like to see: Pedro Lopez go for 3,000 Hits and Ricky hendersons Record of SB's William Bodie go for 300 wins Carlos De La Cruz and Francisco Rodriguez go for 500 Saves Albert Pujols go for 500 Hr's and 3,000 hits Melchor Abad go for 3,000 hits Can Corn go for 300 wins. and... who knows what candelas can do. I just am not in favor of breaking this up. The core that started this is still here and worked hard at their teams. Plus, Tru needs to win his first ring. The man puts up the sickest teams and falls short in the playoffs (happened to me too for about 10 years) .
