  1. QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 10:33 AM) I like Billy Packer and Tim McCarver. Not my favorites, but I think they do a good job of explaining things that are obvious to most. I think Packer meant "f**" as wuss, and I really don't care. Overly pc people bother me. I'm tired of people overreacting to harmless stuff like this. I didn't realize that the board automatically edits offensive words. I typed "f**," and magically the word "f**" appeared. Soxtalk is f**ging out on me. How does this get it's own thread and the Nappy headed Ho's comment doesn't? I think that was wayyyy more out of line.
  2. QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 10:08 AM) They wouldn't in mine. Because if you are hitting .182 you aren't scoring any runs and the only reason you are getting RBIs is because you are having an incredible amount of opportunities. or you are getting your hits at the right time. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 10:09 AM) The point is, that would never happen. Im debating as if it would. If someone averages 8 RBI's a week, he has a spot in my lineup anytime. In the end runs win the game, not average. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 10:09 AM) RBI's are like W-L for pitchers. They may not be 100% irrelevant, but they are very dependent on circumstances not under that player's control. Therefore, they should be taken with a few big grains of salt. If you want to take that angle. Then I will take the angle batting avg. can be raised depending on who bats behind you, determining what pitches you see ( circumstances not under that player's control).
  3. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 09:53 AM) No s***, now she's going to take Jose's money and leave him? Welcome to the US, Mr. Contreras. Maybe Castro was on to something leading a communist nation? At least you don't have to deal with greedy b****es
  4. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 01:06 AM) so you're taking Raul Ibanez over Jim Thome? are you talking about the course of a year or the course of the season? If anyone averaged 8 RBI's a week despite hitting .182 would have a spot in my lineup anyday.
  5. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 09:46 AM) You would think they could find a better way to serve them... She got what she wanted, to the US, husband with millions, now she's leaving him. That b****. I agree with the guy who said she should raft her ass back to Cuba.
  6. QUOTE(Felix @ Apr 9, 2007 -> 05:26 PM) A prime example of why RBIs are a bad way of evaluating a players performance on the year. You are way off. I'm sure every team would love 8 RBI's a week from a player despite hitting .182. Runs are the most important factor in the end. If you have someone driving them in, I'll take that over someone hitting .333 and never scoring or driving in runs.
  7. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 8, 2007 -> 08:42 PM) It is a slang term. The most common definition would probably be wimp. So 'f**' meaning wuss or wimp used as verb. "To show timidity or cowardice; chicken out." (from dictionary.com) You always f** out on me. You always 'wuss' out on me. You always 'wimp' out on me. You always 'chicken out' on me. Seems about right to me. even if he did mean it that way... ( who cares)
  8. For those of you who have not seen this Frank Thomas Commercial http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jMdelLmvUf0

  10. I can't see how no legal action would come out of this. That was just lame of him.
  11. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 02:06 PM) If you see the actual video clip there's way in hell he means that. If just makes no sense at all. It's incredibly obvious that he's using 'f**' to mean 'wuss'. Tired and exhaust make just no sense with the context of he conversation. With this country full of slang , generation gaps and accents, it is too hard to accuse him of any wrong doing.
  12. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 12:52 AM) Since when does 'f**' mean 'lazy'? The closest thing you can get to that is 'exhausted' and that makes NO sense in this context. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/f**ging 1. to tire or weary by labor; exhaust (often fol. by out): The long climb f**ged us out. I can see the term f**ging ( which means exhaustion) associated with Lazy. When I am exhausted I do not feel life doing anything else. I feel like doing nothing, I feel lazy. The words "lazy" and "tired" go hand in hand with each other. The phrase "lazy and tired" compiled 30,800 search results on google. The phrase "tired and lazy" compiled 47,200 search results on google.
  13. I never cared for Billy Packer, Never will. Do I believe him? Yes.
  14. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 5, 2007 -> 04:32 AM) Turned out that this report was false. His agent had that story cleaned up fast

  16. QUOTE(knightni @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 06:18 PM) I don't think KW needs Ozzie's approval or permission to fire him. Kw probably has no say if Ozzie gets fired or not. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 05:54 PM) Probably the same delusional half that think they'd make way better major league managers than him... you are damn right about that one sleepy. I will never forget the Bevington and Manual days. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 08:11 PM) BTW....a little early for Ozzie to be starting this crap right now. This is going to be a long season. all the crap he has said the last 2 years has led to 189 wins and a world series title. keep the crap coming Ozzie!
  17. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 03:39 PM) Titanic grossed $1.8 billion worldwide. That doesn't make it a good movie. You're entitled to your opinion. The people who helped the film gross 1.8 mil would beg to differ. ( btw, I'm not saying I liked Titanic) QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 03:52 PM) http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=htt...ficial%26sa%3DN Here's something that seems to thoroughly debunk the cruise missile theory, a central point in "loose change" Not sure where your getting at with the photo QUOTE(mr_genius @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 04:18 PM) hmmmm, who to believe on engineering issues... Popular Mechanics or Charlie Sheen Of course you realize popular mechanics are just authors of a book. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 04:45 PM) This thing just basically tears Loose Change a few new assholes. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3...ew+loose+change I watched 5 minutes, I liked this better than Popular Mechanics. I will give it a look later tonight. Good find. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 04:29 PM) Have you seen a movie called Loose Change. See I told Gas cant burn steel. Now give me a jelly donut and lets talk to that nice man from Iran that the US has demonized. Good to see no one is resorting to a junior high debate.
  18. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 03:07 PM) I've watched maybe 30 or 45 minutes total of the movie. That was enough. Almost every single one of their basic premises were wrong -- usually because they just don't know what they're talking about because they appear to lack even a basic understanding of engineering, physics, and material science. I've seen enough enormous glaring errors in what I've watched to discredit anything else they might claim. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=78...;q=loose+change 5,256,507 views 29218 ratings 4.5/5 star rating. Doesn't sound like a film with enormous glaring errors to the majority.
  19. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 02:53 PM) They said that they went and spoke with experts who told them that calls can be made but that they are frequently dropped, but that this matches phone records and people's accounts of what happens. The LC guys then tried saying that airlines installing cell phone equipment proves that they couldn't make calls and then quickly moved on to something else. My favorite part was how PM kept bringing up how "real journalists" go and talk to relevant experts and kept asking them if they ever did. Of course, their answer was always "no" or "they wouldn't return our calls." We have a lot of eye witnesses that report seeing a plane strike the building and NO eyewitnesses report seeing a cruise missile. There's some quotes about people saying that it "sounded like a cruise missile," but that's just ridiculous. An overwhelming majority of people have never heard a cruise missile or a 747 at 500 MPH only a few feet off of the ground. For comparison, most people can't correctly identify a gunshot from a similar noise, so why should we trust their acoustic identification of a cruise missile vs. a 747? The flick is 151 mins long. They have plenty of relevent experts. Of course at least a 1/3 of the population would not even realize that because of their refusal to even watch it. I am not suggesting to side with anyone. Don't take the word of Loose Change. I do suggest watching it, research the claims ( google, Library ect) . Debunk the myths yourself if you can. It's not so hard to research. Of course, the alternative is to live in ignorance and continue to take other peoples word on a very important gruesome event during our lifetime. In the event of another attack, be prepared to give up another freedom in the name of security.
  20. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 02:47 PM) I love this arguement. We are talking about THE most classified and secret building on the entire planet. This is the central intelligence agency of the entire world's HQ. The littlest secret being exposed here could literally get people killed. Of course they aren't allowing footage to be broadcast all over the world, they aren't stupid. not even limited footage of the plane while airborne? Something in the 45 tapes should have something that is not so secretive, right?
  21. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 28, 2007 -> 12:57 PM) There's no footage of this. There's no footage of that. There's no good images of this. Why can't we see the footage of this. I can understand if there really is no footage . But fact is, there was. 45 tapes of local businesses in the pentagon area were confiscated by the FBI. Why? Why release only one shot with a bad view and angle? They can release the tapes anytime and shut everyone up, thats includes scholars, Engineers, scientists and former millitary personal. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 02:38 PM) Check back to that page in a few weeks. Maddox runs "the best page in the universe" and usually just writes satirical articles or rants about things he finds stupid in society and popular culture. It wasn't meant to be serious, just to poke fun at them. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Best_Page_In_The_Universe I don't think those Loose Change guys held their ground at all. Especially the "research assistant" or whatever he was called -- all he did was say "you're lying" or scoff at anything they said. They exposed their single "expert" as irrelevant and exposed a lot of the 'science' they used as flawed and misunderstood by them. They didn't really have good answers to anything PM said or refuted and kept changing the subject. As an engineer, "Loose Change" had me laughing out loud at what they were claiming the first time I saw it. I highly disagree. Popular mechanics did not answer numerous questions. For one, they totally avoided the cell phone frequency level at cruising level. Why? Me thinks they came unprepared for the debate. They changed the subject many times during the debate.
  22. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 02:21 PM) Maddox has a good page up now mocking "Loose Change" http://maddox.xmission.com/ I wouldn't take that too seriously. That page is not using any intelligent evidence, rather just making it seem like a junior high debate. I'm sure there are better examples to debunk the myths. Popular mechanics seems to do the best job and I am still not 100% sold on Popular mechanics, the loose change guys really seem to hold their ground against them in the debate posted.
  23. Im guessing this is HOME OPENERS. IIRC, David Wells was the opening day starter in 2001.
