  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 1, 2009 -> 11:53 AM) Outside of the 1st round, what series can you name that have been better? The Reggie Miller vs. NY series is the only one that comes to my mind as challenging it in the last 15 years. It's not so much that the games were better, it's because more chips were at stake in later rounds. If you are looking at best series without looking at the rounds, then this series is the best, imo.
  2. Best playoff series of all time? Ranks up there. But not #1 because it is the first round. Best first round series of all time? This just leapfrogged Sea-Den and GSW-Dal in my book. So I would say yes.
  3. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ May 1, 2009 -> 12:44 AM) BG is gonna bend you all over in Game 7. Book it.
  4. To the couple people who compare John Salmons and Larry Hughes... Stop it. To anyone who STILL has any unwarrented hate for Joakim Noah..... Stop it. btw.. if at all possible, I would LOVE to see pax attempt to unload Deng before any attempt to unload kirk. Kirk is definitely a difference maker when the going get's tough.
  5. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Apr 30, 2009 -> 11:11 PM) i dont know why, but the emoticon in the middle made me laugh I swear that wasn't intentional. I got a chuckle after I posted it. lol

  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 30, 2009 -> 03:25 PM) Putting two rumors together, it sounds like Pods is called up, and Owens is hitting the door.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 30, 2009 -> 03:31 PM) The problem is...I understand Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, or Rajon Rondo putting up solid #'s there, I don't expect Glenn Davis to be non-trivially ahead of all of them. Which means that something really ought to change with what we're doing to him. If we're putting Noah or Tyrus on him and they're not effective then that's a use for Miller. If we're putting Miller on him and that's not effective then use the other guys and have one hang back as a shotblocker. At least try something. I would love everything to be perfect, but if less focus on Davis means more focus on Pierce and Allen, then I am all for it.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 30, 2009 -> 03:24 PM) So who is Noah guarding that should be scoring more on them than say Ray Allen or Paul Pierce? Glenn "Crybaby" Davis or Kendrick Perkins? It may be a good analysis on Noah, but then it ignores defensive schemes such as Zone defense, so I can't be too worried about Noah if he has assignments on top of the key.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 30, 2009 -> 03:21 PM) Glenn Davis has the best +/- for the Celtics over the first 4 games. That's all you need to know.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 30, 2009 -> 02:56 PM) Even so, it starts to separate out some of the player performances on defense. Statistically there is very little defensive difference is Rose and Gordon, which is surprising, at least to me. Salmons and Noah have been awful. That would be dependent on who you are guarding. The person guarding Kobe or Lebron would be awful too, that has little reflection of their Dfense.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 30, 2009 -> 02:50 PM) The sad thing is that Brad Miller is the only player in the rotation that has a positive +/- for this series. http://www.nba.com/statistics/plusminus/pl...&team=Bulls That stat is VERY misleading , considering 1 game was a complete blowout and the rest were nail biters.
  13. tell them to use their blackberries as modems.
  14. It's not even May yet. They could have waited a day.
  15. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 30, 2009 -> 11:00 AM) He suspected someone was signalling the Texas hitters generally. So either A-Rod played for the Sox and we didn't know it, or people on the Sox were selling out Buehrle to multiple Texas hitters. Not likely, and not what MB was talking about. I see what you're saying. What I am saying is where there is smoke there is fire.
  16. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 30, 2009 -> 10:39 AM) Only if Buehrle was playing on the same team as A-Rod. Buehrle said he suspected something was up, and it looks like he may be right.
  17. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 29, 2009 -> 02:16 PM) Yet you liked that final play call. I did. Drose and/or Miller are less likely to turn it over when they are OPEN. Nice try.
  18. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Apr 29, 2009 -> 02:11 PM) As Balta said, I don't have a problem with Gordon getting the call on the last shot as much as Gordon GETTING AN ISO on the last shot on a night where he shot 6-21. If he's not pulling great contested shots out of his ass at a high rate like he has for good chunks of this series, it's not a particularly good call. Pretty much everyone was bad late in the game, that's why they blew an 11-point lead. That's not the issue, the issue is what call gets you the best chance at converting. At least run Gordon off some screens before getting him the shot or get it to him on a drive and kick, that'll get him a much better look. I apologize. Just sorting through the Blind Gordon Hate and realize you are one of the few to back up your posts with facts.
  19. Looks like Dwight may get suspended for that shot. I personally think he should get 2 games. How many games would someone like Aaron Gray get?
  20. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 29, 2009 -> 01:58 PM) I'm not thrashing Gordon, he rose up while injured and might have shot 6/21, but was still the only reason we made it to OT. Phil Jackson would never, I repeat NEVER have called a last shot for Bill Wennington. He called one for Kerr... a shooter, because he knew everyone would condense upon M-Jeff. (this is the smart thing to do) Gordon should have had that last shot... we had 3 seconds. If not him, figure out a play where Rose is headed to the basket, or better yet, DESIGN a play where Gordon immediately gets the ball. The defense will collapse on him, and you can find Kirk open beyond the stripe for the win. Anything was better than Brad Miller getting the final shot. Now, this brings up something else. VDN continued to call man-to-man and let Paul Pierce hit the exact same shot 4 f***ing times. They should have double-teamed Pierce and made Tony Allen or someone else beat them with an outside shot. No. They persistently allowed Pierce to get the one shot we all knew he could hit at will. 55
  21. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Apr 29, 2009 -> 01:50 PM) Gordon wasn't exactly having a great night either, he was 6-21 from the floor for christ's sake. Granted he was getting a bunch of free throws, but an isolation play for Gordon probably wasn't going to end well with the night he was having. He's had a great series, but if he's not hot a Rose drive is their best option because the odds are far higher that Rose will find the big man cutting to the basket or hit Gordon/Salmons for an open jumper. With Gordon on an isolation the odds are extremely high that he's going to throw up a contested jumper, which can work but is far from ideal if he's having an off night. As for Rose, he's turning it over at a much higher rate than we're used to and his D has been quite bad, but he's also averaging 18-6-7 on the series and shooting 49% from the floor (yes, I realize his great game 1 inflates that, but his game 3 performance hurts just as much). That's pretty damn good for a rookie PG, and if he ever learns to draw fouls/get calls he's going to be essentially unstoppable. When Gordon wasn't shooting, Drose or Brad Miller was turning it over. I'll take BGs poor shooting on top of getting to the line game any day. When it was crunch time he went to the line for 3 and had that off the backboard shot. Bottom line, we lose by 10+ without him out there yesterday. The only regret I had for yesterday was Kirk should have received a lot more PT, in favor of ROSE.
  22. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 29, 2009 -> 01:46 PM) The problem goes back to one I've been harping on all season. VDN is a rookie head coach and never had coaching experience. He sucks at drawing up last plays, and it bites us in the ass all the time. Calling a play for Brad Miller... get outta here. Sure, it worked... it got him open, but it's still Brad f***ing Miller. Give me a break Steve, I guess if Phil Jackson did it with Bill Wennington, it's ok. All this BG and VDN thrashing is getting old fast.
