FWIW (since QB ratings seem to be pretty important Here are the qb ratings for Jay Cutler and some big name QB's of the last 25 years for their 1st 5 years in the NFL, where they played the majority of the season. I didn't include the rookie years for Brady or Cutler because the only played a handful of games. Peyton Manning 71.2 90.7 94.7 84.1 88.8 Tom Brady 86.5 85.7 85.9 92.6 92.3 Brett Favre 85.3 72.2 90.7 99.5 95.8 Dan Marino 96.0 108.9 84.1 92.5 89.2 John Elway 55.9 (11 games) 76.8 70.2 79.2 83.4 Jay Cutler 88.1 86.0 ? ? ?

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Apr 3, 2009 -> 03:59 PM) I'm not sure how that is relevent. I don't believe there is always a winner and a loser in a trade. I guess I don't look at a trade as a competition, but as a mutual agreement. If I had to pick, I guess I'd say the Sox because they won the World Series, but if there was a winner of that trade, it certainly was not determined the day after the trade went down. If I understand it correctly, both sides won the trade and there was no loser. On paper, Milwaukee won. Without that trade however, who knows if the Sox would bring home a title? It was a perfect fit for both teams.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 3, 2009 -> 03:55 PM) Who won the Scott Podsednik and Luiz Vizcaino for Carlos Lee trade? Bingo

I'm going to refrain from further commenting because this could get into a political debate fast. but... JA, DO IT!

QUOTE (chunk23 @ Apr 3, 2009 -> 03:35 PM) Plaxico was just released. Comes with a lot of baggage, but would you see him as a fit here? It's no question the Bears need to add a top WR. DO it JA!

QUOTE (T R U @ Apr 3, 2009 -> 03:22 PM) Sorry, Broncos won that deal. And I know you got your Bears glasses on right now, but take em off and maybe you'll see Griese and Plummer both had some very good seasons with the Broncos. The Bears mortgaged their future for a guy who is 17-20 as a starter and has never had a winning season. If you guys wanna keep ignoring what I have been saying about this I can easily turn this into a why this was a terrible deal for the Bears and how they are now f***ed. The Bears have had s***ty results in the 1st round draft for about 20 years now. Yet, I like the position the franchise is in. I don't think 2 1st round draft picks that we would have blown anyway are going to make our break us. Read Daa84's posts the last few pages to see what value we really gave up.

Steve, don't let everyone s*** on your optimism. Pace will be good for us. I've seen plenty of players get banged up in their thirties and go on hiatus for a couple years, only to close out their career on a good note. Pace has a lot of pride, believe that. Pace is going to be the most accomplished player to put on the blue and orange since Walter Payton.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 3, 2009 -> 03:09 PM) Well, Urlacher was interviewed on ESPN Radio today and was nothing but giddy about the acquisition. He went as far as to break his media silence just to talk about how happy he is to have Cutler in town, and that he doesn't blame him for wanting out, because he was treated poorly. sucks for the espn spin department

QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 3, 2009 -> 02:44 PM) Let's see what he can do with actual receivers. minus a good runningback

I am a Kyle Orton fan. I wish him nothing but the best.

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Apr 3, 2009 -> 02:04 PM) Anyone hear Urlacher's thoughts on the trade. WSCR was talking about him pretty negativley as if he is now bitter that he may not be the face of the organization the guy has turned into quite the jerk....but I never heard what he said. Anthony Adams by the way is very entertaining. They probably only heard chopped up versions of his quote . His quote was not negative at all.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 3, 2009 -> 12:49 PM) When are you in town next? We need to share a beer over this acquisition. Middle May and then again end of June. I will give you details when I get them. I don't know about a beer, beers sound better.

QUOTE (DanksFan @ Apr 2, 2009 -> 11:40 PM) Anyone looking for a thrill or excitement from the person throwing out the first pitch in the home opener is looking for that stuff in the wrong place... minutes later the real thrill and excitement begins when the season starts! So yes, your perspective is classless, snubbing Pierce for receiving the honor. He is a really great guy (how can you use this against him?) and in my opinion deserves to throw it for his contributions to the White Sox family. I'm sorry everyones lover Barack Obama isn't there, but in reality he wouldn't have made opening day any better, because nothing beats opening day, no matter who throws the first damned pitch. get over it. I love pierce, but find him boring. You're classless for attacking me, for having an opinion.

QUOTE (T R U @ Apr 2, 2009 -> 10:45 PM) Yeah you're right they don't, and like I said the Bears needed this.. but Denver could easily draft Mark Sanchez this year or wait till next year and if they do suck this year could get a Colt McCoy or Sam Bradford anyways. Either way, Denver isn't in a bad position at all. Denver has to trade him because they pissed him off and he clearly wasn't going to cooperate with them, its not like they just decided hey lets trade Jay Cutler without anything behind it, I still see what you are saying though. I don't think it was more that he wanted a QB to fit what hes doing aside from he just wanted his guy, that didn't happen and that's why Cutler was traded. I would hardly say Denver is in a bad position here regardless of how this season goes for them. If they want a QB, they can get one and have set themselves up pretty good for the future. And once again, not a bad deal for the Bears at all I just feel Denver wins it easily. Its a win win, with one of the wins being just a little more than the other. I get your points and agree 100% The bears have had bad luck with 1st round draft picks during the Jerry Angelo era 2002 Marc Columbo 29th 2003 Michael Haynes 14th 2003 Rex Grossman 22nd 2004 Tommie Harris 14th 2005 Cedric Benson 4th 2006 No Pick 2007 Greg Olson 31st 2008 Chris Williams 14th Out of 8 years worth of 1st round draft picks I can not think of 2 players from that list I would not trade with Orton and a 3rd for Cutler. At one time, I would have been hesitant with a Harris/Olson Combo. Looking at our 1st round draft history, we would have screwed up this year's pick too. At the same time, Denver may draft 2 pro bowl players that we may not have drafted. That's why I view this as a win-win. It is easy to assume the Bears would have screwed up the picks anyway. Some may call it a poor attitude to have, I see it as going with the Odds.

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Apr 2, 2009 -> 09:36 PM) Schlereth said the Bears lost both OT's so that won't make Cutler happy. Ummm...what? When is NBC and Rotoworld going to start a sports network to compete with ESPN? I like analysts who do their homework.

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Apr 2, 2009 -> 08:42 PM) Does a first pitch really excite anybody? It seems like the only thing more meaningless is politicians with shovels at a ground breaking ceremony. You have a point.
