  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 4, 2009 -> 03:53 PM) The Sox have a DH. Frank has nowhere to play. If by bring him back you mean not to play but to retire as a White Sox, I fail to see what that accomplishes. I'm sure when the time is right, Frank will be offered some sort of role with the White Sox. Maybe he can be an "ambassador" like Fisk. Even Fisk didn't know what that meant. DO I NEED TO EDIT MY POST? I never said ANYTHING about him DHing. I was thinking more along the lines of a 1 day contract.
  2. QUOTE (T R U @ Apr 4, 2009 -> 12:50 AM) lolz I remember how everyone was talkin s*** about Orlando at the beginning of the year. He rangercal, can you still name 16 teams that are better than Orlando? If you dig through the thread (and I think Dbaho would have my back on this one) I admitted I was wrong and Orlando was the real deal. That was probably back in December I admitted I was wrong.
  3. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Apr 3, 2009 -> 11:59 PM) Tony Romo is not a franchise QB. Sorry. Cutler isn't there yet, but he's well on his way. Yes he is.
  4. QUOTE (qwerty @ Apr 3, 2009 -> 11:59 PM) Respect is a two way street... i feel the repect is lost... on both ends. Frank likely feels they did him wrong, and i am almost 100% positive the organization feels the same way, if not more so. Just not very realistic in my eyes. Yet the fans get stuck in the middle of this divorce. I say both sides need to suck it up and do it for the fans.
  5. LOL I guess so. Cliff Notes: Bring Back Frank Not for any Role on the team, only to close out his career Do it because he's the greatest player in sox history and it's the classy thing to do Got that Balta and Qwerty?
  6. Is steve the only one who read the post?
  7. He says he's not ready to call it a career. If nobody calls, I hope we do before the season is over. I'm not talking about filling a role, I'm talking about closing his career with us. He has the greatest numbers in franchise history. He is the greatest White Sox player of all time. If our organization has any class, they will do the right thing. Here is the latest story I found on him http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...sp&c_id=mlb Edit: As stated above , not filling a role. Sign him to a 1 day contract and let him retire with us.
  8. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 3, 2009 -> 06:15 PM) Wow, I love Jay. In the last few months, the city of Chicago loses one Jay (Marrioti) and brings in another. Life is good.
  9. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Apr 3, 2009 -> 05:59 PM) FWIW, I don't believe the Bears will sign anyone who's an improvement this year. It's draft or bust for this team. I also think people are expecting too much of Earl Bennett because of Cutler. 90% of fans did not expect the bears to bring in Cutler, so I'll take your beliefs with a grain of salt. What's expecting too much of Bennet? Slating him as a #3 or #2 tops?
  10. QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 3, 2009 -> 05:49 PM) If you ask me there aren't many QBs in the league I'd build my team around moving forward before Jay Cutler. and to me thats worth the extra picks we gave up. The only QBs I could think of are Manning and Brady if they were each a few years younger. Cutlers ceiling is in the same neighborhood or better than any other QB in the league.
  11. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Apr 3, 2009 -> 05:47 PM) Yesterday morning Arkush said on the Hampton and Holmes show that the Bears were not a factor. He also chuckled at the thought of Orton starting in Denver. But his spirals will travel much further distances with the elevation factor in Denver.
  12. Let's hope Percy Harvin's drug charges have him slip to the 2nd round. Won't happen, but I can dream.
  13. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 3, 2009 -> 05:38 PM) I think the best part of his game (aside from the cannon arm) is what your sig so beautifully shows off. His mobility will make our O-Line look phenomenal, as well as open up room down the field. Forte is going to be a freak without 8 men in the box. Likewise, I think Cutler will have more open looks. I can't imagine the Bears picking up Cutler and Pace in the same day and not rectifying the wide receiver corps. If they really want to piss off the rest of the league, they should go get Boldin. Cutler/Forte/Olsen - Boldin/Bennet/Hester That is too Pretty. The bears will address WR , don't worry about that. No way bennet or hester will be a #1. I still anticipate Cutler going deep to Hester, just not Hester as a #1.
  14. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 3, 2009 -> 05:36 PM) Funny thing is.. there are alot of rumors that Washington (and another mystery team) offered more than the Bears. Bottom line.. (from what I heard from multiple outlets) Denver preferred Orton over Campbell.
  15. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 3, 2009 -> 05:29 PM) I also have a best buddy that is a Broncos fan and all he was telling me was how Cutler was the 2nd coming of the Messiah (his nickname for Elway). We watch all the games together at the bar so I've seen probably 25 of Cutlers games and all I can say is just how thrilled I am and how pissed he is. Clearly that isn't any way of saying who won the deal because I'm no NFL expert nor is he, but I will tell you that the Bears have a guy that they've never ever had in the history of there organization at the QB position. Next up the Bears will have to give him a big f***ing contract, in the neighborhood of 100M so hopefully the McCaskeys are ready to shell out. It probably won't happen now, but it might happen during the season. The question is how everything regarding the uncapped year next year will effect things. I watched quite a bit of Bronco games this year. Partially because Cutler saved my ass in fantasy when Brady went down week 1. I could not help but think of Favre or Elway when he threw 30 yard laser beams that whistled down the field, despite staring down his receiver and the defense knowing exactly where he was going.
  16. QUOTE (T R U @ Apr 3, 2009 -> 05:28 PM) That doesn't mean the 3rd they traded is worthless. It means that they still have plenty of draft picks left, on top of a 25 year old, cannon-armed QB.
  17. QUOTE (T R U @ Apr 3, 2009 -> 05:27 PM) Clady was a Pro Bowl/2nd team ALL PRO lineman as a rookie. That was not thanks to Jay Cutlers mobility Steve. Maybe not 100% , but I would make an argument that it helped Clady's cause and Clady helped Cutler's cause at the same time. That's all steve was saying, it goes both ways.
  18. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 3, 2009 -> 05:25 PM) I've watched enough Broncos and Bears games to tell you there is no comparing the two QB's. This is 100% true
  19. QUOTE (T R U @ Apr 3, 2009 -> 05:24 PM) They exchanged a 1st and 3rd this year for Cutler, and a 1st next season. While I somewhat can understand what you are trying to say about the draft here, you seem to be acting like losing two first round picks is no big deal. Bears had an extra 3rd round pick to begin with.
  20. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Apr 3, 2009 -> 05:17 PM) Explain to me how then? 1.) Off-season is not over. The #1 Wr may not be on the roster right now. 2.) Jay Cutler will not be behind Orton's old line. The line looks to be significantly upgraded. 3.) Take your pick: Kyle Orton plus Running backs by Committee or Jay Cutler and Matt Forte. Denver's RB's will have to deal with extra men in the box, while Forte will spread the Field for Cutler and Cutler for Forte. 4.) Greg Olson 5.) I expect with coaching changes, the defense in Chicago will improve. Cutler has never had a defense behind him. Denver will be improved on D, but they have a longer way to go than the Bears do.
  21. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 3, 2009 -> 05:16 PM) I suggest ignoring anyone who says that the Bears got fleeced and they easily lost this trade. We won't know the answer to that for 5 years, as 3 of the four pieces the Broncos acquired have no name yet. If in 5 years they've used their own pick plus ours to get Mark Sanchez and he somehow becomes a God, it still won't be fair to compare. The Bears left themselves a first rounder short this year. They still have picks in the rest of the rounds, including two in the 5th. In the scheme of NFL value for the Draft, the Bears have exchanged their first rounder for Jay Cutler, and have a comparable draft the rest of the way to anyone else. It's flawless. I'm Sold
  22. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Apr 3, 2009 -> 05:14 PM) Orton put up a 79.6 QB rating last season with a worse O-Line and worst WR's to throw to. Is it crazy to expect he'll improve that number, and Cutler's will go down slightly? yes
  23. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 3, 2009 -> 05:13 PM) On a sidenote, if the Bulls lose Ben Gordon, I want them to sign Iverson to a contract and let him be a huge player off the bench. I don't know if AI would agree to that, but I'd be okay with it if he was. I really want Ben Gordon back and if the Bulls can find a way to bring him back while still being able to make a max offer at one of the big crop of Bosh/Amare/Wade/LBJ, than do it. How about a 1 year deal. 1) AI gets to improve his stock for one last multi-year deal 2) It does not hurt the 2010 sweepstakes for the Bulls
  24. I'd root for Crede the Cub before Crede the Twin. There is no way I can root for him to succeed now. Maybe late in the game with the Twins down 9-0 I'll root for him. That is the extent of it though.
