I missed something, what is the deal with Berroa's contract?
-
Wake up to what? The fact that he can hit minor league pitching to the tune of a .287 average this year? This year which is what, 40-50 games old? Kelly Dransfeldt is hitting over .300, should the Sox clear room for him now too? Borchard plays in a bandbox, with a Walk/K ratio of .3 over the past two seasons. I think he's a bust, you think he's good, fine whatever. But, I don't recall you possessing any clairvoyant abilities, so you can lay off the "pointless thread" and "wake up" remarks.

You may be ready to anoint Uribe the savior based on 44 games, but I am not so inclined. Even if he is for real, there is also no overwhelming evidence that Willie Harris is anything but Julio Ramirez part deux. I would gladly build some depth in the infield, if for no other reason than to trade them for more pressing needs down the road. I'd guarantee that Berroa alone has more trade value than Rauch and Borchard combined. Wake Up? Please. I missed the memo where it stated you have all the f***ing answers, kid.

Happyy B-Dayy, Jimm !!!

His own meaning a .240 hitter with 300 K's a season?
-
Well, no one's saying other trades couldn't be made as well......

Hmmmm, well I know Randa is being shopped, and I am not a Crede fan. How about Randa + a mid-level prospect for Crede. Any objections there? Borchard? I would hardly call a .275 average a "rebound" especially in that park. As for Rauch, he's only throwing 5 innings per start, and at least 3 pitchers have passed him on the "next in line" list. Randa's defense is only slightly worse than Crede's, but his offense is much better. I dont have much faith that Crede ever becomes more than a below-average hitter.

Crede, Valentin, Borchard, Rauch for Randa and Angel Berroa ?????

Hmmm, then there goes my theory as to the identity of the topless yodeller on the roof of the IHOP on Roosevelt and Mannheim

Word. This is just a case of some stupid kids doing stupid things. Not that any of what happened was right by any means, but there have been guys that have used drugs/alcohol to "loosen" girls up since the beginning of time. There have always been girls willing to be as promiscuous as necessary to be considered cool. Teens have always experimented with sex. Pornography is not destroying the youth of america. This has nothing to f***ing do with god or any lack of god.

Someone sent me an email this morning saying that the band Phish is officially breaking up for good. I hate Phish.
-
Word. At risk of sounding like a jerk, I think it's pretty socially irresponsible to have 15 kids, regardless of your ability to pay for them. If every couple had 15 kids, we'd be looking at a Logan's Run situation.

Yah, Bush is all about the Shock and, in this case Awe tactics. Sending a mission to Mars? OOOOOOOHHHH, flashy. Spending the money on alternative fuels and reduce the country's dependency on oil? Never, too practical, and it'll piss off all his buddies.

Cmon now, people have to realize that the chance of the Sox re-signing Ordonez after this year are pretty slim, especially given our outfield prospects in the minors. Turning him into Clement and Patterson sounds like it accomplishes two things 1) Keeping the Sox competitive now, and 2) Allowing the Sox to be competitive for years to come. It also give the Sox more flexibility in upcoming seasons, as far as using prospects in deals etc. It doesn't do much for the Cub after this season, but who cares about them?
-
I hate to say it, but I like the idea, mostly. Corey Patterson's attitude scares me. But, if he doesn pan out, it's a great move for the Sox. A rotation of Buehrle, Clement, Loaiza, Honey Weisse, and Garland for the next 3-4 years sounds fine to me.

My only problem with this line of thought(not to pick on you Jason) is that it completely tosses aside any need for responsible consumerism. Everyone knows that gas-burning vehicles damage the ozone layer, contribute to pollution problems, global warming, etc. Do people think these problems will simply go away? Isn't the purpose of any generation to try and make things better for following generations? I think it's sad that the only reason the SUV boom has subsided(albeit probably only temporarily) is due to the fact that most people arent willing to pay high gas prices to operate these things. I wonder how many SUV owners are the same people protesting the Bush plan to start oil drilling in the Alaska wilderness. I guess my point is, why create more of a mess when it's completely unnecessary? Just because you have the right to?

I, like many other posters, have chosen to ignore the blowhard and his silly polls.

Oh wait here it is!!!! I figured it out. I am half Polish, have mercy on me.

Right, but once you hit the "reply" button, the quote option disappears
-
See, this doesn't work. I highlighted(and copied) the text I pressed "reply" I pasted the text I erased the superfluous copy And here's where it doesn't work. I have no 'quote' button to press here. I get either 'Add Reply' or "Preview Post"

15 out of the Sox's 25 wins have been decided by 3 runs or less.

I still dont know how to use the "multi-quote" feature. Funny, but Bob Gibson and Sandy Koufax could throw a mean breaking ball.....How come there was no rotator cuff/labrum tear 10 starts into their (and many, many other pitchers') careers? **I dunno, maybe because they weren't throwing cutters/splitters in addition to the curves and sliders? Maybe they developed their whole arm as young 'uns which gave their joints the stability to withstand the strain of all those pitches? A combination of both? Penis Beauty Creme? If that were true, then Boston would have asked him way back when they had an awful bullpen. When was the last time he threw 170 pitches a game? **Baseball is a specialist's game now. Boston management would have been reamed daily if they used Wakefield every game. Especially when that would keep millions of dollars worth of other pitchers sitting around collecting dust. And he is a knuckleballer - give me one fastball-change-up pitcher who can throw 140-150 pitches a game on consistent basis like the old timers could on a 2-3 day rest. **Randy Johnson would be my best guess, although probably not at 41 years old. 3-4 years ago he may have been able to pull it off. Are there really any other starters out there that rely on fastballs and changeups almost exclusively?
-
The Sox currently rank 3rd in the AL in runs scored, behind Anaheim and Texas. The Sox currently rank 3rd in the AL in runs allowed, behind Boston and Oakland.
-
It's a myth that sliders and splitters put significantly more stress on the arm than a fastball and a change-up when the mechanics are right. **I disagree wholeheartedly. The stress on your elbow from a curve, slider cutter, et al, is definitely higher than from a fastball or changeup. Secondly, even if it were true, then how come you don't see knuckleballers or good ol' fastball-curve pitchers throw 300 innings a season? **I think some could, they just aren't asked to. Tim Wakefield could throw 300 innings easily.
