  1. I think you're all missing the point. Mags isn't resigning with us after the year, not necessarily by his choice, but JR isn't committing anything resembling $14 million a year for him. Nomar wouldn't be resigned either, so you have to look at the potential deal from these angles: 1) We also get Williamson, who will be signed for a few years 2) We're getting Perez, Mota, Miller et al..all guys that we can sign and keep for 2-3 seasons. There's no point in arguing Nomar vs. Maggs--they're both one season and out, so who cares who's better?
  2. So, assuming the Nomar deal doesn't go through, you have an unhappy Nomar in Boston, an unhappy Manny in Boston, and an unhappy Maggs in Chicago. What if the Red Sox sent Nomar and Manny to the Dodgers, the Dodgers send Mota, Perez, Miller and Izturis to the White Sox, and the White Sox send Maggs and Jose to the Red Sox? Thoughts? Good idea? Dumb idea? Too much to handle for L.A.?
  3. With his spelling skills? Are you crazy? "Hey, thanks for the jerseys, but who are Kardur, Micnare and Drivurr?"
  4. He hasn't adjusted in 3 years, why would you think he would adjust now? We wouldn't pay him enough to keep him beyond 2004 anyways, so it doesn't even matter if he COULD adjust--it wouldn't happen in his first season anyways.
  5. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/arti...catcher_blanco/ A sad, sad day for Sox fans.
  6. Try Ebay. I bet they'll have them.
  7. Yes, I see the light now. No Nomar. I was wavering, up until I read this post.
  8. No, all Sox PLAYERS must now be of Latin descent. It is the will of JR--"I would trade all six NBA titles for one all-Latin White Sox team." It's tricky, but KW is methodically putting the pieces in place. Don't ask about the recent Mark Buehrle extension--I cannot always decipher the moves of "El Gran Purifier Blanco."
  9. Not so fast, what about all the fried penis-eating cannibals over there? I'd be more afraid of them than terrorists. Keep your eyes peeled, and if someone over there asks to have you over for dinner, make sure you know EXACTLY what they're referring to.
  10. That's the best news I've heard all day. Kind of an odd subject for a troll though.
  11. I dunno, sometimes I think decent pitching that gets hot at the right time wins. But I am in total agreement that this really would be a stupid move by KW. You can't argue that Jose has his moments when he is effective, even stellar at times, whereas I can't see anything Jarvis does well other than keep the trainer's table warm.
  12. Wow, i didn't think he had been around that along. He is god-awful, what do they see in this guy? But again, he is not hispanic, so this is probably strictly speculation.
  13. The logic, I assume, would be that if this is correct, we'd be keeping Nomar, and unloading Jose's contract on someone else in exchange for pitching. The Sox almost picked up Jarvis last season, so they must like him for some reason or another. I don't like it because it means we're keeping Nomar. Jarvis isn't of Latin descent, however, so I don't expect this to happen.
  14. 9/10 15/15 Son of two teachers. Finally did me some good.

    Mouse problem

Just put one in the garage wall outlet, that will help at least. Maybe scare them away altogether.
  16. I believe Jason Dallaero(sp) would currently fall under that category

    Mouse problem

Steffikins, If you have a 2-car garage, then I'd put 2 of them in(fortunately, they sell them in 2-unit packs). Place them as far apart as you can. Is the garage attached to the house? How are the cats getting into the garage? The ultrasonic things create some type of noise field that is very uncomfortable to mice, and just makes them want to not be near it. Kind of like what happens to humans every time a Good Charlotte song plays on the radio. They won't hurt the cats.

    Mouse problem

Living in a 105 year old frame house gives me more than my fair share of mouse issues. I bought those ultrasonic plug-in things from Home Depot, and they work most of the time. However, don't believe the box in regards to how many units you need per square footage. If it says one plug-in covers 500 square feet, you really need two of them. They also don't work 100% of the time, and I'm not sure why. I'll go weeks without seeing any mouse "evidence" and then suddenly we'll have a new friend leaving his calling card. We've also put glue traps and snap traps on shelves in the pantry, where the dog can't reach them. They're not gone completely--the only way to do that is to find where they're coming in, and patch the holes--but the problem has been reduced significantly.
  19. OK, I'll admit to being ignorant here. Huff is probably the most underrated hitter in the AL at least, if not all of baseball. His contract is pretty cheap, and I believe he's locked up for 3 more years. Why in the world would Tampa even THINK of trading him? Is he hurt? Arbitration-eligible every year? Asking out of Tampa? What'd I miss?
  20. We aren't giving as much credence to 1997-2000 because downward trends that continue as a player gets older should not be taken lightly, especially when hopes for reversals of said trends are explained away with reasoning like "maybe his eye will improve dramatically in his 8th season" or "his wrist injury from 3 years ago has finally healed." Without anything else to go on, I'm not putting my eggs in Mr. Hamm's basket. I like your latter suggestion much better.
  21. Over the last 3 seasons, those numbers are much more disparate. I posted them somewhere's, don't recall where though...
  22. and Leon's getting Laaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrger.
  23. C.mon Steff, get with the program. If we get Garciaparra for Ordonez, then obviously we HAVE to pick up Juan Gone. Otherwise, the KW dream of an All-Latino team cannot be fulfilled. If Konerko goes to L.A. for Perez or Mota, etc., look for the Sox to sign Palmeiro.
  24. I like Silvy, but I think DeFalco's useless. Their show is always better during NFL season, but they'll suck again in 3-4 weeks. Just MHO.
  25. Please, those guys have BY FAR the best local sports radio show in Chicago. They blow every show on the Score away, it's like comparing MLB with AAA.
