  1. QUOTE (The Bones @ Jun 18, 2008 -> 12:57 AM) If someone can answer this question I will concede the point. What professional golfer acts out more than Tiger? Be it positive with the multiple fist pumps and spiking of hats onto the ground or negative with the banging of clubs and swearing at himself? He is the Carlos Zambrano/Joba Chamberlain of golf. No other professional golfer even comes near to acting the way he does. What professional golfer has the camera on him as much as Tiger? Which one is in the hunt in the final round more than Tiger? Which golfer has basically carried the sport for the last several years more than Tiger? Golf needed him and his emotion as a shot in the arm. Golf's popularity with younger generations and minorities skyrocketed because of him. Stoic, boring old men were killing the sport.
  2. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 11:36 PM) You could always try Canada or Mexico if you don't like the taxes here. Choose between higher taxes or s***ty living conditions. Or you could hang out in Europe where gas is $5-$6 a gallon? Just a thought Or another city really.
  3. I'd like some first hand knowledge of this Morel kid if anyone goes to see him play.
  4. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 18, 2008 -> 05:04 PM) Under. Way under. I'm still confused. I think it should be Dye, Crede, Thome, Q from 3-6, but whatever I guess. i think Crede should be before Dye even. He gets on base more and is better with RISP.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 18, 2008 -> 11:47 AM) Quentin-untouchable Danks-untouchable Floyd-untouchable Alexei-untouchable Poreda-not tradable yet ( i think) Swisher-very slim chance he's traded Broadway-not worth much Richar-low value Anderson-low value Potential throw-ins like Cook.-basically zero value we dont have much to offer. Basically is you want Roberts, you lead with Swish, since we can replace him with Alexei in CF and Roberts moves to 2B. Alexei would im sure be of interest to them as a replacement, but I dont see us dishing him.
  6. I dont really want to see anymore posts suggesting trading Floyd or Danks. Those guys are about as untouchable as it gets at this point.
  7. Wise and BA in the OF covered a ton of ground last night.
  8. QUOTE (The Bones @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 07:40 PM) And yes I have played golf many times before and it can be without a doubt one of the most frustrating experiences for anyone but I manage to restrain myself from acting like an child w/o cameras in my face and millions of people watching me so I would think he could be able to as well. Also, playing with the types of people who act like Tiger is even worse than having to watch it. It's hard to focus when the other guy is banging clubs around and cussing at himself. You've never sworn at yourself or dropped a club on a bad hit? Really though? And im sure that takes his opponents focus away and not the thousands of people on the course and the millions on tv watching your every move....
  9. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 09:00 PM) I prefer people not embellishing s*** because they can and it's a better story. He was over the top. By showing emotion? Come on. He was disappointed in his play at times, big deal. Golf is a better sport when we can see their frustration.
  10. Swish is coming back around, and our offense is a little different look. If Wise can slap the ball around a bit, he could be useful down in the 9 slot.
  11. QUOTE (Cali @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 07:03 PM) Theres no one I want less at the plate with the bags juiced than Thome....never thought id have to say that... I remember a couple of season ago when I knew if there was a RHP on the mound if I saw a fastball it would be hit hard somewhere. Now, not so much, im just hoping for a walk.
  12. Thome is basically just a guy that may be a body on base 35 percent of the time. His bat has been pretty awful. Javy better get us back in the dugout quickly here.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 06:52 PM) His arm looks tired. He's getting no snap on his curve, and he's totally dragging his arm on his change-up. He is throwing from that stupid ass sidearm slot. Its why his fastball lost its late movement and his breaking pitches suck. His body flies way open.
  14. So let me get this straight. Javy shows in the first inning that the Pirates cant hit his fastball and has a fast inning. Then he comes out and throws nothing but breaking s*** in the 2nd inning? He is a mental f***ing midget.
  15. What is with that Gay glove dance Dempster does from the windup, its girls-softball like. And since when does he throw 95?
  16. With the beating the cubs have put on the Pirates this year, I expect us to do the same.
  17. Buckeyes have about 17 commits for next years class, and are expecting Carlos Hyde to make it 18 this week.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 04:44 PM) Danny went 2/4 with 2 doubles and 4 walks today between the 2 games. Hitting .281 over his last 9 games, with at least 1 hit in all but 1 of them. Thats great news for our 2B of the future. I think there is a good shot that OC walks, we get a pick and you see Danny and Alexei in the MI. Nice range and good hitting and speed with a touch of power.
  19. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 05:43 PM) So according to Jesse Rogers KW said today that the recall of DeWayne Wise instead of Jerry Owens was Buddy Bell's call. KW went to Bell and Buddy told him Wise can do more for the team right now than Jerry Owens. Wow, ok. I trust Buddy's judgement on this, and its nice to see his involvement. I wonder if Cook's name came up in the conversation at all.
  20. QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 04:32 PM) Hopefully Sox start a streak and go in hot against the Cubs. Still wish Carlos would drop lower in the order and move up JD. That's just me, though. Why? JD doesnt get on base nearly enough to move up.
  21. im changing my avatar in hopes it snaps us out of it.
  22. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 04:03 PM) Man its unreal that BA isn't in there.... And that JD is still in an RBI spot and joe Crede isnt. Crede: .281 .356 .525 JD .286 .336 .486 Crede RISP: .346 .410 .635 Dye RISP: .288 .318 .407 WTF
  23. QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 10:48 AM) I don't get this comment? Tiger isn't throwing his club after a bad shot and blaming the grass or anything...he's doing it cause he IS blaming himself? Many times he even says..."Dammit Tiger!" He isn't inhuman and it's because of his ultra comeptitive nature that he is as good as he is. Golfers are really responsible for their own compensation as well, which makes it a great situation, but also a ton of pressure. Think how f***ed up Paul Konerko would be if his pay depended on how well he performed every day.
  24. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 16, 2008 -> 07:53 PM) I could have done without Tiger acting up after each bad shot. Like he didn't know the cameras would be on him after them, too. I mean give him credit, but I can do without the ridiculous antics. Antics? So you prefer statues walking down the fairway? Golfers including Tiger are the calmest athletes in sports, they react about .00000001 percent as crazy as baseball, football, bball, hockey, and soccer players.
  25. QUOTE (scenario @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 02:26 PM) Just wanted to point out that in Charlotte's double-header this afternoon... David Cook went 4-4 in the first game with a triple. And he hit a double in his first at-bat of the 2nd game. So... in the 25 at-bats he's had since being promoted to Charlotte, he has 12 hits. I hope he keeps raking. I would like to see him get a chance at the majors if he has a hot bat. Im sure Dye would have to get hurt though.
