Well if FSU is allowed to punish itself, IU will as well. But you all know somewhere deep inside the inner circles, IU was worried about hiring Sampson. -
QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Feb 14, 2008 -> 01:34 PM) Here is my situation: Been working for the same company for 10 years. Plenty of vacation time. Not the greatest insurance and other benefits, but not a bad place to work. My wife is pregnant and I have the flexibility to leave to go with her to the doctor whenever I need to. I was just offered a job with a much bigger corporation. The pay is essentially the same. Health insurance, tuition reimbursement and other benefits are much, much better. Being new, I wouldn't have the flexibility or vacation time to take off when I might need to. Basically, I want the new job, but would like a bit more money. What is the best way to negotiate this without seeming too pushy or arrogant? Honestly, tell them how much you want the position, think you can make a difference, but feel like the pay isnt what you were envisioning.

Seriously, what are you accomplishing in your pathetic life by taking innocent people with you. If you feel you arent worth a damn, take your own life and get it over with, do not involve people that actually want to make a difference in this world.

QUOTE(thedoctor @ Feb 14, 2008 -> 09:04 AM) given that he's a big name and grew up as an indiana fan i do think his name will come up and maybe iu makes a call. that said, i don't think there's a snowballs chance he goes. I believe he grew up as an OSU fan, as I believe he was originally from Columbus, IL, but I could be wrong. But you are right, now way in hell, IU had some glory days awhile ago, but OSU has been top tier since he started there and he has brought in top tier talent, and they have the largest budget in the country. I still dont think IU is that desirable of a position anymore. I certainly dont think they are a top 5 coaching slot. Couple that with the sanctions that may come down and its going to be hard to find an established coach to take that position. Its going to have to be a no-name or something with alot to prove. -

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 13, 2008 -> 10:40 PM) That is what I heard last night, but not from a source I trust enough to have said it. We'll see, but there is a lot of smoke on that story. IU fans: If he's fired, what names will come up besides the obvious like Matta and Sean Miller? Matta? -

woot, good game in evanston tonight. 12 dollar tickets cant be beat. Koufos with a double double. -
How about you all speculate on Sox players taking illegal drugs in your heads instead of on this board?

Basically Roger is a liar. McNamee implicated 3 people in using, 2 have confirmed he was telling the truth, the 3rd (Clemens) not only is calling him a liar, but also Pettite and Pettite's wife a liar as well. Hes scrambling to try and convince people of his lies.
-
Roger is caught up in trying to stay consistent with his initial denial and is lying more and more to support it. He actually acts a lot like a child caught in a lie that tries to spin everything to support the already obvious lie. Mcnamee says it best; he implicated 3 people, 2 have come forward and confirmed he was truthful, the other is denying everything even to the point of calling his best friend and his best friends wife liars. Come on roger, its one thing to lie on 60 minutes, nows the time to tell the truth.

QUOTE(3E8 @ Feb 12, 2008 -> 10:49 PM) Maybe people don't know the distinction. Brands like Lucky are to upscale designer jeans as Olive Garden is to fine Italian dining. Dont hate on the salad and breadsticks. I agree, but I like Lucky's and they do have more expensive lines, but sevens, R and R, PD and C etc are the ones that stick out as top shelf.

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Feb 12, 2008 -> 11:41 PM) I was actually quite impressed with Koufos on Sunday. He'll do that, and then make you wonder what he was thinking the next game. Bar none, he needs at least one more season in college, for his own benefit, and of course the benefit of OSU having him next to Mullens. Anyone going to Evanston tonight? Tickets are going off at 12 bucks a piece. -

QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Feb 12, 2008 -> 08:36 PM) Better where? Who will be the better pro, probably Gordon, although if Hummel got thicker could he project to a poor mans Nowitzki. As for college if Purdue wins the Big 10 this year and Gordon bolts, it will be hard to go against Hummel who could play another 3 years. I dont know projecting players are gut feelings, there is just no way you can say stats or anything else will determine who will be a great pro and who will bust out. Some times I look at Gordon and see a player that could be the next great thing, other times he just has this way about him that makes me doubt him. And thats why I premised this all on, if Hummel continues to play this way. He has been on fire, and more importantly he has played the best in Purdue's most important games. Interesting thoughts actually, I cant see Nowitzki because he has 4 inches on Hummel, and a wingspan difference as well, but I can see your point as far as his value projecting forward, I like him as a player. But Gordon's play is just at a higher level right now with the highest ceiling. I cant see him not winning that award and projects much higher as a pro as well. -

QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Feb 12, 2008 -> 08:16 PM) Rock, I think its to early to say "he wont win it". The last 2 games, Hummel has been the difference. At one point he was unstoppable at Wisconsin and he carried his team. Gordon has looked rattled as of late, tenative and in fact could start to wear down because he has played so many minutes. If Gordon slumps, IU loses to Purdue, maybe slips to Wisconsin or another team, all of a sudden Humml has a shot. He has a shot anyway based purely on his stats. But hes still also behind Koufos in that arena as well. But Gordon still is the better player, it would take a ridiculous run for Hummel to beat out Gordon. Is there anyone in the world that possibly thinks Hummel is a better player than Gordon? I dont think any sane basketball fan would ever say that. Looking at the games that you are speaking of as well, shooting 70 percent from the field and 60 percent from behind the arc isnt something that is really easily repeatable. Quick edit: Dont think im trying to push Koufos as a freshman of the year candidate, I actually think hes actually extremely weak as a ballplayer right now. -

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Feb 12, 2008 -> 08:12 PM) Hell the idiot from Maryland in the studio tonight handed Gordon the Big Ten POY award. Does this guy even watch games? Gordon doesn't even get the best player on his team award. Not trying to take away from Gordon, he has had an excellent freshman year, but DJ White has been the best player on IU and in the Big Ten this year. I agree with that as well. Gordon is the best frosh IMO, but White is a beast. He actually has that "Barkley-esque" power and energy down low at times. -

QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Feb 12, 2008 -> 08:06 PM) Hummel may not have the stats, but he has the big time wins... If Purdue wins out (which is not out of the realm of possibilities) Hummel has to be a consideration. Im sure he will since stats-wise he's number 3 for freshman, but he wont win it, and shouldnt. -

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Feb 12, 2008 -> 08:03 PM) I don't think Lavin was exaggerating too much -- that's one of the better college basketball games I've watched all year. Great atmosphere, two quality coaches (and, of course, very good teams) going at it. I agree it was a great game to watch and I LOVED the game from tip to whistle, but everything that happened was the best ever. Its not all that uncommon of a game in the Big Ten, highly ranked team upset away from home in front of a loud crowd. I think their ignorance of the Big Ten was 99 percent of what was annoying to me. -

QUOTE(The Critic @ Feb 12, 2008 -> 08:00 PM) Oh yeah, definitely. He wasn't going to be as good as he had been all year. I'm just surprised to see him peppered for three in the first period. The Wings usually only give up 3 shots per period (exaggerating, of course, but you get my point) - he must've been absolutely horrible tonight. My favorite characteristic about Osgood is his absolute lack of the ability to stop extremely long distance shots. He has to be the all time leader giving up 3-line bouncing goals. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Feb 12, 2008 -> 07:56 PM) I'm not so sure Hummel hasn't been the best overall frosh during Big 10 play this year. Ha! How so? He averages 11 and 6. Thats not even as good as Koufos who isnt even close to the competition at 14 and 7 and 2 blks. Gordon is averaging 21 points, its not even close. -

QUOTE(The Critic @ Feb 12, 2008 -> 07:53 PM) My Wings are suffering. Losers of 3 straight and Osgood yanked after giving up 3 in the first period in Nashville. I know the vast majority of you are very happy about this, but I've always been a fan of the Wings (second only to the Hawks), so it's no fun to watch them in a slump like this. I appreciate the Wings, but you had to see Osgood slumps coming. -

seriously, ExaggerationSPN. So far, Hummel is the best freshman in the big ten, Izzo is a legendary coach based on how great he b****es to the refs, this is the best game that has been on TV all season. -
QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 12, 2008 -> 10:15 AM) Not sure if you venture out that way, but Lucky just opened a store at the Prime Outlets in Aurora. I haven't been there yet, but Jim's daughter did and bought a few pairs from $44 to $80. I have, that mall is pretty awesome. Frankly anything under 100 bucks is a win these days.
